I'd like to try some watercolor backgrounds (or those little trees lol) and I got some watercolor paper, not super expensive, from M's. It's hard to tell online how thick, etc.. it is. I got it kind of a while ago and just tried it last night. It is super crappy, it warped badly (even after using the heat tool) and did not look cool or pretty at all. Grrr....What weight/type of watercolor paper is best for card fronts? I was nervous about making them too heavy. Thanks!

I've have lot of W/C papers and I keep going back to Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I buy it in 8.5 x 11, packs of 10. Alternatively they have a 4.25 x 5.5, packs of 20. It's a nice almost white, whereas other watercolor paper (Canson Coldpress and Arches) are a bit more off white. Give me a few minutes and I can post a photo.

Here is a photo of the brands I have. For comparison, the bottom piece is Neenah Solar White which is my "go to" for cardmaking. ETA: if you click on it, it should make it bigger. I added the Bristol because it's a great paper for techniques and will hold some water, but not as much as the other three. The TH, Canson and Arches all have a rough and smooth side. Attachments:

I don't do anything fancy with mine and I've heard that other watercolor might be "better" but I can get the TH easily and it works for my very basic needs.

I think I'll just include it with my (getting larger every day lol, this 50 page challenge might just get me in trouble as every time I finish a page I add something fun to my cart, lol ) scrapbook.com order-I am sure I'll like it!

I don't like the TH watercolor paper at all. I find it very difficult to get the paint to move on it. I use Canson and Strathmore, both 140 lb. and inexpensive. I buy it at Michael's when it's on sale, or with a coupon. I've also bought it online at Amazon.

I use mostly Canson 140lb cold press with the Art Impressions watercolor stamps. I tried the Artist Loft brand from Michaels and didn't care for it at all, it was thinner. I have some Tim Holtz and Stampin Up but haven't used either yet. I plan to try the Tim Holtz because it is more white than the Canson.

Ranger is now offering the Distress Watercolor Paper that is 8.5 x 11 in 200 sheets for 120.00 and free shipping. I bought the Distress White Heavy Stock during Black Friday and got an additional 15 percent off. I suspect that with President's day coming up they will have a sale and I'm buying that ream of Watercolor Paper! Woot, woot! 118 pound white and has a smooth side and a creased side!
