Our county just posted a vaccine notification form and along with basic information, it asks 3 questions including
Do you believe you are at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 due to an underlying health condition?
I consider myself a healthy person over 50 and assumed I'd receive the vaccine in whatever timeline was given. But I do have something that my dh thinks I should respond yes. I have 1 copy of the Factor V Leiden gene. This gene increases my chances of getting a blood clot (however, far less than a person with 2 genes). This has not ever been an issue in my medical history, but has been recent discussion with my OB as she is trying to determine if I should take some hormonal meds. Otherwise, I've never needed to discuss this with a doctor.
I'm not trying to cut the line at all, but googling Factor V and Covid was not very reassuring. Just want to be honest with my response.

You answer yes. If asked what it is tell them. Make them decide if you get "cuts".

I would probably say “yes” and list what it is. Let the decision-makers decide. If you say “no” and then get COVID and have the clotting issues - which are documented- it could be fatal.

Ok! I guess I feel guilty because I am healthy, but with FVL, it's not a problem until it's an emergency.
I can only answer yes or no, but if they require proof, I can bring documentation.

I have Factor V Lieden (2 genes) and my hematologist approved me to get the vaccine early. Im 41. I think even having just one gene for it would also make you qualify as it its putting you at a great than normal risk.

Exactly, but with Covid causing many to have blood clots (really bad ones) then you have a greater risk of getting one. FWIW, my hematologist advised me to tell whatever Dr treating me if I get Covid about Factor V immediately so they can take extra preventative steps even before I even think I have clots (so maybe file that advice away if case you need it).

I find myself being sort of militant about who I think should get the vaccine early and you should.
(that being said if they are going to just throw away extra vaccine they should grab the nearest person on the street and let them take it.)

My SO has Factor V Leiden too. He has 2 genes. He will get it as soon as it is available here, which will be pretty soon because they have already worked through our LCF & first responders. I think we're up to essential workers & teachers now.
Anyway, I would do as others have said and say "yes" but let them make the final decision.
