I just got a new mac and want to copy my silhouette library from my PC. I'm running the latest software on both machines.
Windows 7 - Mac Yosemite Silhouette Studio 3
I've tried searching for this answer and am not find any instructions on moving libraries to a different platform.
Has anyone done this successfully? Is so will you help me?
I've put the com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio file into the Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/ folder and that didn't work.
Thanks.
Laurie

I use a Mac, but never had to transfer it from another computer. Good luck.

I am PC - but the new V3 has an Export function. I would guess it would work going from PC to Mac - it's worth a try!
On your old computer in Studio click on File, Library, Export Library. Export it to your USB device. Plug that into your new Mac. Open Studio and Click File, Library, Import Library. You will then be asked to enter your log in name and password for Silhouette. It then transfers your library. It keeps all your folders just as you had them in on the old computer.
I hope that works for you! The only people I know that have major issues with Studio are running Macs. Hopefully you dont.

I tried to export my PC file and then import that file into my MAC and got an error. I sent a email to Silhouette asking for help.
I've moved my library many times from different PC's with no issues. I was hoping it would be something simple to get my library re-built on the MAC.
Setting up my software on the MAC has been a bit of an adventure. I'm trying to resolve this and my Quicken files.......

I was able to transfer my library from the PC to the MAC.
I'm going to add the fix in the event someone finds this post and is having the same issue.
On the MAC
I moved the com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio copied from my PC to my MAC at Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/.
When Silhouette starts it shows no files.
FIX: Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio I renamed this file to com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8 (the file from installing Silhouette on the MAC did not have the '.8' on the end and neither did my PC file)
When I restarted the Silhouette software it said that it needed administrator permission to create a file. It created com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio (with no 8)
So now my folder has both files in it. My files all show up in the software and my organization is all intact.
I'm not certain where new downloads will go. I'm going to download some this weekend to test that.

I just did a reinstall from Silhouette directly. Glad you figured it out!

I just did a reinstall from Silhouette directly. Glad you figured it out! I wanted to preserve the tagging/organizing I had done so I was really glad it worked.
