Where are they? No one has them. Have you used those funky ones from Amazon with the color coded rubber coverings?

I don't have any inside info on why they're not available, but I have the funky one aka Graphtec blades and holder. I bought it last year. It took a little getting used to but I really love it now! It's so much more affordable. It might not be something I would recommend for an absolute newbie to a Cameo because there's no depth markings on it, but I've been using my Cameo for long enough that I'm pretty comfortable without it. (I did recently find this blog post that talks about how to make your own markings for the blade but I haven't tried it yet.) I do have the original Cameo so I'm not sure on if any adapters need to be used for the Cameo 3. This is the set I purchased and it's great. I recently bought just an additional blade holder (so I could have a 45 and 60 degree blade ready to go at all times) and the diameter was slightly too big so it did not really fit in my Cameo. I'm not sure if you'd have the same issue with the Cameo 3 or if it was just a dud but thought I'd warn you about that.

Keep checking Amazon. I guess they are going in and out of stock. I was able to order late Sunday night from Amazon, and they will be here the first week of Feb.

I’ve been somewhat out of the loop due to DH’s health issues for the past 6 months and his recent major surgery.
Are the blades not available anywhere, at all? Not at Amazon? Not in craft stores? Not at Silhouette, either?
I use the Autoblade most of the time in my Cameo 3. I sometimes use the ratchet blades that could be used in Cameo machines 1 through 3, and I have a deep cut blade. Are none of these available anymore?
I vaguely recall that Silhouette ran sales around Black Friday and Christmas, so I’m hoping that it’s just a temporary lack of availability. I can’t imagine that Silhouette would shoot themselves in the foot by discontinuing blades for older machines. That would be a supremely stupid move.

absolute newbie to a Cameo I am not a newbie, but scared to try them! I love the fact that they are cheaper, and reviews say they cut great. I just need to bite the bullet and do it.

According to the creator of the Silhouette School website/Facebook group, the autoblade shortages are due to manufacturing issues related to the pandemic, and they are not discontinuing them. Hopefully they will be back in stock soon. I have an extra one that I picked up a few months ago, so I'm ok for now. I have a ratchet blade too, but prefer the autoblade.

Those are much less expensive ( and much less wasteful only disposing if the actual blade )

I know what you mean, I had to work up the courage to get them! For the first time, I found a YouTube video that shows how to install/switch the blade in the holder. The hardest part (for me) was being able to identify the degree of the blades and use it for the correct application. I use mostly 60 degree since I cut thicker cardstock, but some 45 degree for thinner cardstock. I don't cut vinyl that often but I believe that's what the 30 degree is usually used for. Here's a helpful resource I found for the blades.

I delayed using the CB09 blades. I even went so far as to give away the 2 sets I bought. But I ordered another set when I couldn't find the silhouette ones. I'll never go back!!

Yesterday I pulled up this thread and was going to ask you how they worked, but I was like, nah, life is crazy right now, she probably hasn't had a chance to use them. I'm so glad you love them!

I'm so glad you love them! Thanks for the push to do it! One question, though. Do you change the settings on the blade when switching from paper to vinyl?

I'm so glad you love them! Thanks for the push to do it! One question, though. Do you change the settings on the blade when switching from paper to vinyl? I haven't cut vinyl yet (I rarely do, except for special projects), but from what I understand, the 30 degree blade should be used for regular vinyl (i.e., not foil or specialty) since it's so thin. Otherwise, the 45 degree will work. As far as how much of the blade to expose, this is a tip that I found helpful from the Sign Warehouse FAQs I linked earlier in the thread: Whether you’re buying and installing a replacement vinyl plotter blade or installing the OEM blade in a brand new cutter, the first thing you have to know is how much of the blade should be exposed. If you have enough blade sticking out to clearly see and feel the tip, it’s probably too far out. Most new vinyl cutter owners improperly install the blade with too much of it protruding from the holder. Set it so that you can barely see the tip. Then take the blade holder and manually drag it across a sheet of vinyl making a box pattern or square. You should be able to weed that easily, but you shouldn’t see deep scoring of the release liner. If you flip the vinyl over, you should not be able to feel the cut line in the back of the liner. If you can cut vinyl manually without carving up the liner, you’ve gotten it right (Fig1). Now install the blade holder in the tool carriage, adjust the cutter’s force setting, and perform a test cut. Tweak the cutting force until you get the same result. The only time you need more blade tip exposed is when you’re cutting very thick material like heat transfer flock or sandblast stencil film. Otherwise, use the ‘less is more’ rule.Does that help? If not, let me know and I'll figure out a better way to describe it!

I love my Cameo 3 and this blade makes sense. Now...hopefully I can figure it out when I get it lol. 😂

I ordered the suggested blades, I tried it ( only once so far ) but it was easy to assemble, fit fine, and cut well. Which is a feat as even brand new silhouette blades don’t always cut cardstock well. I cut two script words and one cut perfectly and the other had only one little area that didn’t quite cut thru. I can put the blade out a bit more next time. Or I could switch to the 60 deg blade as I used the middle one yesterday
I guess my next cut will be on a thicker cardstock, that will be the real test as I can not cut anything out if thick cardstock now not even with a new blade.
Thank you thank you fir the suggestion!!! Definitely better blade.
I even think it could be sharpened if I’m careful but they are cheap enough that I’d have to be desperate and in a time crunch to do that. But since it comes all the way out I think you could if you had to

Count me in the enabled bunch! I've intended to buy a set for so long, but somehow, just didn't hit the button. Till today. Thanks for giving me the nudge. I'll be following this thread in the next couple of days, keeping everything crossed that everything works first time, but hoping for answers if not

I got enabled a few months ago and am SO GLAD I did.
I cut foam now for my stamps.
I cut cardstock so much easier.
I find this blade system to be much better than the Cameo blades.

It might not be something I would recommend for an absolute newbie to a Cameo because there's no depth markings on it, but I've been using my Cameo for long enough that I'm pretty comfortable without it. (I did recently find this blog post that talks about how to make your own markings for the blade but I haven't tried it yet.) This will be the tricky part! I have read the blog post (thanks!) and will have to try to mark my blade holder for depths. I did see a few different printable depth strips on Pinterest and elsewhere for your blade holder. I wish there was more out there info wise as far as the various scrapbook paper types, blade degree selection and depth settings. My order arrives today so I’ll be experimenting over the next few days. I am really looking forward to clean intricate cuts.

(My Amazon parcel just arrived) I have a cake topper to make for our son's wedding in May. I had the brilliant idea of making some clay figures from sugarpaste to begin with, but then saw the error of my ways and decided on something simpler. Maybe I'll do their initials or something - I've yet to decide. Whatever it is, if it needs cutting out I need a new blade (or 30....) so what better time to give these a try?

OK, progress of sorts to report and some advice from those who have been there, done that would be hugely appreciated! I thought I'd start with a 45° blade and followed the advice on the various YT videos to fit it in the holder. No probs with the spring, but the wider diameter end wouldn't sit nicely in the metal holder as shown in the videos and wobbled about all over, until I corralled it with the black plastic screw top, persuading the cutting tip to go through the central hole as I did. Did I blunt the end whilst trying to get it through that hole, I wonder? No matter how I tried, I couldn't get a clean cut from that tip...even when it was showing far more than the old Silhouette blade I'd just removed at an estimated Silhouette setting of 9 or 10. The metal holder fits nicely into the holder (I have the beige/black and turquoise edition - I think, the original Silhouette Cameo) and I didn't have to squeeze it in as many of the videos show. I've now managed a successful cut using a 60° blade, but again, at a higher notional setting than I'd have expected and with 2 passes. I'm cutting ordinary patterned cardstock...nothing special...and before I began with the new blades, I did a quick troublefree test with my old blade set to 4. I'm wondering if that blade should be held firm in the metal holder before I screw on the black top (as shown at 2.25 in this video)? Maybe that's what's making a difference? What do you think? UPDATE Edited to add that reading a couple of reviews on Amazon suggested the spring isn't necessary any more. I took the spring out and tried it again - BINGO! Perfect Cut!
