I have to send mine back to Amazon. The blade holder hole for the nib of the blade is drilled too small. I was reading some comments on YT videos and saw that this has been an issue for others. Hubby tried as well but it just won’t fit.

I've now managed a successful cut using a 60° blade, but again, at a higher notional setting than I'd have expected and with 2 passes. I'm cutting ordinary patterned cardstock...nothing special...and before I began with the new blades, I did a quick troublefree test with my old blade set to 4. I'm wondering if that blade should be held firm in the metal holder before I screw on the black top (as shown at 2.25 in this video)? Maybe that's what's making a difference? What do you think? UPDATE Edited to add that reading a couple of reviews on Amazon suggested the spring isn't necessary any more. I took the spring out and tried it again - BINGO! Perfect Cut! I had one perfect cut with the blade and now it won’t cut through the paper. I have tried various blade depths manually, force settings, Silhouette and Nicapa mats, removed the spring, etc.... all with the same Bazzill smooth card stock that I use all of the time. I was really looking forward to doing a bunch of cut files today. Your advice would be greatly appreciated! I cannot seem to find the perfect setting.

Is it only cutting the paper partially or is it not cutting at all? I will say that I recently cut a bunch of Bazzill and even though I had heard this for years, was surprised by how poorly it cut. Bazzill is super fibrous apparently and it kept clogging up my blade. I kept unscrewing the top, taking out the blade, blowing off the blade and then blowing out the top of the blade holder. Is it possible there's fibers that are stopping the blade? And/or have you tried putting a new blade in the blade holder?

Is it possible there's fibers that are stopping the blade? And/or have you tried putting a new blade in the blade holder? I have tried everything. I did find a blog that had a link to the Paper Pulse Blog article from June 29, 2013: paperpulse.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-better-and-less-expensive-blade.html” I spoke to my friend Kim from Scraps of Faith. She told me she loved her blade holder and blades. She was beyond frustrated with the Silhouette Ratchet blades and said she is so happy with the CB09 and will never go back to the faulty and expensive ratchet blades. Kim told me she set it to double cut and no matter what the setting she was able to get great cuts. She also told me she never changed her settings. So, I set up a CB09 blade setting of Speed- 4, Thickness - 32, and Blade - 5 and Double Cut with only exposing a rather small amount of the blade. If you purchase these blades use some scrap paper to make some test cuts to get your blade just the way you want it. I used the above blade settings because I use fairly heavy card stock most of the time. I have cut all sorts of card stock weights with these settings. It's worked out wonderfully! I did change the blade depth and settings when I used the 60 degree blade to cut some light weight chipboard. I exposed more of the blade by turning the black knob at the top of the CB09 blade holder to a depth slightly deeper than the depth of the chipboard I slowed the speed down to 1, the blade depth to 10, and the thickness to 33 and of course, double cut. This chipboard was heavier than a cereal box weight. The results were impressive with a nice clean cut.” I used the same settings and it was perfect. I wanted to get away from double cutting especially for intricate cuts but......

tinksmommy I can sense your frustration and understand exactly how you felt - I was the same. How could everyone wax lyrical about these blades when for me, they were utterly useless. Maybe I'd got a faulty holder (I did notice my blades didn't sit upright in the base, before I screwed on the black top - maybe that was the fault). I slept on it, came back with renewed determination and a few pieces of waste card. Eventually, I got it working by leaving the spring out, but it took time and yes, I did the double cut too. I'm now reluctant to adjust anything, having hit the sweet spot for now. I guess I need to build my confidence with it, to feel confident that those blades *will* cut and to be patient in doing tests and making adjustments. Does tinksmommy and my experience tally with everyone else's or are we both missing something? Right now, I think those blades are like the little girl with the curl (when she was good, she was very very good but when she was bad she was horrid!)

At best I got 1 cut from them. If it made that cut fully. Bazzill just cuts poorly in the silhouette for me it is much more suited to work with dies. I have never with silhouette blades had a good cut on Bazzill. Haven’t tried with new blades.

I was going to try to cut stencils with the 60 blade today. I’ll see how that goes.
