It's time to start packing up my scrap room for our move. Won't close on our house until the end of February or early March but tomorrow will be my last day off work for a good three weeks so tomorrow is packing day. I don't want to do it! I love to pop in there for even a quick thirty minutes or so but I know it's not going to happen so I need to get in gear and get it done tomorrow. I keep telling myself how much I will love my new space but I am bummed that it will be months before I can unpack and enjoy it. I'm just over here having a pity party and knew you girls would understand.

Oh that stinks! Would it be possible to pack up the majority of it but still leave out some of your supplies that you know you would use so you can still do something when you have a minuet or two? Maybe just enough that would fit in one box that you could throw the reminding stuff in at the last minuet?

Ah, that sucks! I'm one of those people most motivated when I can't do something, so that would be torture. I'd be coming up with creative ideas left right and center. Hope your move goes smoothly

When I had to pack it all up prior to our move 4 years ago, I packed a crop bag with trimmer, scissors, adhesives, and other essentials, along with several project kits that I put together, so I had something to work on even when everything was packed. Then everything else got boxed up. I was so glad that I had that crop bag, because nothing went quite as expected, and my craft supplies were the last things to be unpacked.
That crop bag of projects saved my sanity.
I hope that all goes well for your move!

Exciting times ahead! Are you a card maker at all? I would consider making up a kit to make multiples of a specific card, probably a generic birthday card or thinking of you card, so if the creativity genie visited me I’d have some thing to play with.
Good luck with the packing and moving.

You could pull it out at the dining room table if the urge to create strikes you.

I like the way you ladies think! I just might try to throw some things together to make cards. Why didn't I think of that???

I’m in the same boat. I packed my room up at beginning of Dec. I did pack a few items in a tote so I can do some things, but gosh I feel the pain of not having all my stuff in an organized way. I as well miss those quick passes thru my room to play with new items or organize. I’m hoping to have it all back to normal in our new house by June.

We closed at the end of December and are moving in another week or two, I hope (waiting on electrician). I've packed some of my scrap space but I'm leaving some of it out for now - in part because we're moving locally and soem of it can easily move intact and in part because I'm making a few layouts and cards here and there. I do need to get my address change cards made soon. Our move has been delayed due to scheduling issues with the plumber and electrician - we were originally hoping to be in by now.
Plus LAST time we moved, 12 years ago, I packed up my scrap stuff shortly after our offer was accepted and a closing scheduled...and it took SIX months to actually close. I regretted packing it so soon

I had to pack in Nov for a Dec move and I feel your pain and it was only 6 weeks or so without my supplies. I kept a tiny amount of supplies out but wasn't able to do much. I did make sure to take a bunch of notes since I was also planning to do December Daily. And that never happened. I think that was the worst part. I still haven't started. I actually packed up all my DD supplies today. I'm just not in the mood for Christmas and they were taking all my desk space. I'm hoping to join the Christmas in July and get inspired. The good thing, is I took pictures and the notes so I can go back to it when I'm ready. And I'm loving my new space. I'd recommend writing on the boxes what you put in them. That helped a ton as I was unpacking. Good luck!

Our last move was prolonged (since we sold then built our house ourselves) so I packed a small quantity of stuff so I could do a little crafting for the year we lived in a rental house. I didn't touch a bit of it as it was such a busy and exhausting time. So, if you know you'll have some time and space to fit in a little crafting (especially if it's therapeutic) then definitely do it, or just take the break and pack it all and you will look so forward to it all again when you move in!

Maybe just enough that would fit in one box that you could throw the reminding stuff in at the last minuet? We’ve moved 16 times. I always pack a Rubbermaid tote with some basic supplies. My studio is the last room to get unpacked and sometimes I just need a quick card or crafted item. And sometimes I just need to make something for my sanity. It’s good to have all of the basics in one place. Put all of your liquids in one plastic bin. You don’t want it getting crushed and leaking all over your boxes! Also put rubber bands around your ink pads. They easily fall off and dry out. Don’t store the ink pads or markers anywhere that will get hot or they can dry out that way.

I moved in October, and lots of my stuff is still in boxes. It’s all labeled and catalogued, so when I need something I can find it. For the most part I use a couple of totes that didn’t go to storage — tools, a few paper kits, die cutter and most used dies, etc. It’s made me realize how much I have that will probably never get used and needs to be purged.
Good luck with the move!

I’m so sorry! Did this last year and then everything ended up in storage for an extra 5 months because of the virus. Absolutely pack yourself a bag of whatever it is you love most to do! Think of every part that goes into making so you don’t forget glue, reverse tweezers...whatever. I also threw in a notebook for ideas because when something isn’t there you suddenly think - ohhhhh I could make X! It will help you get going when you start up again. The bag was also in the car when we moved so I had something while we waited for the movers. Those mental breaks when I could craft were hugely important.
Best advice came from a friend - if it can stain or spill put it in a plastic bag & pad the box well. Didn’t have any casualties-even the box of inks arrived intact.
Good luck with the move & enjoy your new room!

So many people seem to have had delayed moves or delayed unpacking. Like so many folks here are saying, but also I'm thinking of Shimelle. She's been living in her new place about a year, maybe more like 18 months, and she's only just getting to unpack most of her scrap stuff now! She hasn't been able to get to a hole punch in all that time, or certain other tools and supplies.
It's probably a lot more work but packing stuff so that your most used & loved supplies can be unpacked first and then the occasionally-used and then rarely-used might be a good idea if there's any risk of that.

I'm packing too... I didn't even think about keeping some supplies out. I am just getting new carpet but everything has to be packed up pretty much.. But I am the type of scrapper that needs everything out in front of me.. so I am not to worried about it. I just hope to get the carpet in the near future.... no delays.

Part of my craft room is in storage. I have moved in with my fiance. Initially we were going to move everything here but we just don't have the space in his apartment. We have been working on my small house to get it ready to sell. Hoping we can get it on the market soon and that it sells quickly. Once it sells we will begin the house hunt. We both now work from home and I think I want a separate space for the "office" and craft room. When we start packing up the apartment I plan to keep a few essentials so that I can at least make some cards if I want to get crafty.

I would get those 14 x 14 x 14 boxes and put some bubble wrap in the spaces. Paper is expensive and a little cushion would help preserve it.
