What are some changes you have made to your crafting that have made a HUGE (to you) difference?
Here are some of mine:
~ I made a swatch book of all of my stamp colors - so helpful when I am using stamps with multiple colors on them!
~ At the end of each month I put a folder on my laptop main screen for inspiration for that month. I fill it with sketches, mood boards, challenges, card examples that I like so I have quick, go to inspiration.
~Re-doing my Raskog so it holds things that I love, but forget to use when they are behind drawers (ex: sequins, certain punches, tags, roller stamps...).
~Re-organizing my embellishments/stickers on my floor stand Clip It Up. It is great to be able to see everything at a glance.
~Sorting my MANY alphabet stickers into drawers by size instead of in a big basket I have to dig through.

*Storing my Doodlebug die cuts sorted into pocket pages. I can easily see how many I have left and how many cards I can make with what I have (each pocket basically represents a card. I have moved extra stamped sentiments and homemade die cuts into this binder too, which helps me grab a quick element to finish off a card.
*Storing that binder and all my paper vertically. So much easier to access!
*Removing one basket/shelf from my Raskog-style cart. Having 4 shelves seemed good until I realized it would be easier to page through my stamp basket if the space above them was open.

Having printed pictures on hand. This way, when I do get some time to craft, I can spend it crafting, not working on the horrible, painful process of photo management and printing.

Moving a storage unit and basic supplies into my main floor family room. I have a craft room in the basement but it’s cool down there and I have to turn the heat on to warm it up before I go down. When the pandemic hit I moved stuff to the comfy upstairs and can also hang out with DD at the same time.
Getting my mini photo printer for Christmas. I have 100s if not 1000s of pictures already printed but when I go to scrap I’m not inspired by them or they aren’t in the right size for the plan I have. I’ve only scrapped for 2 weekends since getting it but so far it has worked wonderfully to help me.

For me, the biggest change was probably the way I decided to organize my digital photo files. After I have all my photos for the year (or most of them anyway) I decide what stories are going into my album, how many pages I'll need for each story, in what order they'll go, which photos to use, and what sizes the photos will be. I like having it all laid out ahead of time.

I got an Epson Picture Mate. I love that thing. I hated uploading photos for printing. Now I print and scrap. Love it!

This is a great thread!
For me: * putting my travel photos into page protectors along with any memorabilia how I expect the album will be laid out. Sometimes I add an extra page protector or remove some photos, but having a general idea of where the photos will go helps immensely and lets me easily see where the gaps are.
* pulling out all the super specific embellishments and keeping them in a container on my desk. That way when I want a tree or a food item or a day of the week sticker, I don't have to remember where they might be stored in my stash, and because they're right in front of me I use them often. I did the same with all the birds/butterflies/animals, putting them all into a single container.
* moving my alphas into open topped containers so I can flip through them. I had them laying flat in drawers and it was just too difficult to get to some of them. It's also much more obvious to me how many I have, both in total, and in specific colours.
* creating a kit of embellishments. I periodically go through my colour containers and pull out things that inspire me, and keep them in an iris container on my desk. I then use this container for embellishing all my pages until I'm no longer inspired by the things in there. I still reach into the rest of my stash if I know I have the perfect thing or I can't find just what I want.

Printing photos at home has been the biggest game changer overall.
Breaking up my story kits got me to use up product and shop my stash more.
Creating a dedicated memorabilia album. I love the “stuff” but rarely ever remembered to find it when doing PL so this was an easy fix.
Recently joining the ScrapHappy community. Really enjoying the weekly events and it’s getting me in my scrap room creating and making dedicated time for my hobby. Hooray.
Keeping a 5 year journal has helped me remember more stories.

Watching this thread carefully. Still recovering from a basement flood over a year ago. I have the basement back in order, but all my scrap stuff is in boxes. I'm just waiting for slightly warmer weather to spend a day down there organizing.

I have a lot of embellishments. I kept a lot of them in my closet. Find I use them more if I can see them and don't have to go hunting for them.

Love this thread, so many great ideas! My biggest realization was that I scrap by color. (Thank you MercyTiara and and NicoleJones911) After I have used a collection, when I put leftover embellishments away in my stash, I do it by color. I use those little clear plastic 4x6 Iris photo cases to store by color. I also have a few cases for specific categories, like Dogs, Halloween, Christmas, etc. If I am doing a Halloween layout, I can just grab my Halloween, orange, and black cases. If I'm working with a collection that has a lot of pastels, I might grab my pink and blue cases. When my cases are getting full, I know it's time to purge some of the older things I haven't used.

Printing at home 100%! This past year I have to sent my photos of to be printed for financial reasons and it definitely stunted my scrapping.

I have a tall rolling cart with seven drawers. All my scraps, non-themed embellishments, washi, etc are sorted into drawers by color. Pink, red, yellow and orange, green, blue and purple, and black and white (the bottom drawers are larger). Brown lives somewhere else... I make a lot of monochromatic pages with scraps, so it's nice not to have to dig through all my stuff, plus I use up the little bits this way.

A few years ago I sorted major themes into iris cases and put anything related to that theme in one or two cases. This has made it easier to put away new product and pull product for layout.
More recently I sorted photos and their themes into 12x12 envelopes. So for example, I put all the Easter photos in an envelope with the Easter product that I pulled for those photos. In some cases I have everything that goes with that theme in the envelope instead of in a separate iris case, like the election. I have just a few pieces of paper and stickers plus the photos and a couple news articles for those layouts. Right now I have probably 40 envelopes ready to go to a crop. Now this is not like preplanned pages at all. I may or may not use what is in the envelope. It's stuff I might use.
Lastly, I have an 8.5x11 3 ring album that has page protectors with photos sorted by theme or layout. If I have photos of DGD playing on the computer at different times, all of them go together in an envelope but they might be separate in the sorting album.
Now I must say these are the efforts I have made and it is a mere dent in my huge stash of disorganization. But these efforts have helped me so far.

I moved my rollie cart upstairs with basic supplies and am now crafting at the dining room table and using my craftroom like a store lol. I run down quick to "shop"...brrr! MN winters!

Finally cleaned and reorganized my scrap room in 2020. I used to have things packed up in cases so I could take them to crops. Knowing I wasn't going to any crops anytime soon I sorted thru everything and stored my collection kits and papers by theme and then put all like embellishments, alphas, stamps, paints and other like items in drawers and boxes and labeled them. The more common embellishments are on my Clip it Up and my Alphas are in file box that stands up on the counter. Now when I need something its so much easier to find and I am enjoying scrapping at home. Its so awesome to know that everything has a specific place. I also bought two paper sorters for my cardstock so I have my paper sorted by color and have my cricut sitting on top of the sorter. Everything is so much easier to access now that I'm not constantly having to pull it out of my crop bags.

I did the same thing, I took everything out of my "ready for crops" containers and organized it. I buy what I love. I use what I love. If I don’t love it, I get rid of it. I document what I want. I need to get over the "I need to scrapbook this" and do "I WANT to scrapbook these things".

The biggest change for me is when I changed from paper to digital. Now all my supplies are in the one spot, on my MacBook, and cleaning up is so much easier! And I can scrapbook on the couch, in the car, at a beach house, watching my son's sporting matches..... And on a smaller level, I learnt how to do something new just the other day - change the folders in Finder on my MacBook to be a picture of what is in the folder instead of just a blue folder. You can also do it for the folders in Windows Explorer. How did I not know about this before? It has made it a lot easier to search for digital scrapbook kits, because I can look at all folders in Icon view and see what's in each one. One day when I have time I will do the same with all my folders that have photos in them.

I think the biggest change overall was creating a space just to play! I had been cramming ever more scrappy supplies into a room that was designed for office work. I had custom cabinets made and now have two counters so I can stand up and move around while I am crafting.
I can leave stuff out all over this room and it is nobody's business but mine. I can leave pages in progress and hastily-pulled-together page kits out where they catch my eye and get the wheels turning as soon as I walk in here.
I can sort all my papers by theme and season and when I have a set of photos I can pretty quickly match them up with scrappy supplies. My dies and embossing folders are within a step from my Vagabond. Foils and toner all by my Minc.
Lots of counter space means that I can keep my trimmer, Vagabond, Minc, Silhouette all out and ready for duty. Lots of open shelving, yet closed off areas as well. What looks like a mess to others means that I can SEE what I have available to use on any project. Christmas supplies--once I FINALLY finish with them--have their own deep corner. Tools live in a tray in a drawer; and the tray can be pulled out to take with me to crops.

I'm using my stuff. I'm not "saving it for just the right project." The project I'm working on now IS the "right project," because I'm actually making it. I'm also giving away things I don't use and tossing things that don't work. (I'm talking to you, clogged spray bottles and dried-out paint.) I'm not wasting my time trying to fix things and get every last drop out of them, especially if it means taking an hour to try to make them usable again. If I can pour it into another bottle or container, then fine. If it isn't an easy fix or adaptation, out it goes! Less stuff makes me use more of what I have and love, before it becomes unusable.
