that became the must-have item de jour for a while, way back in the golden age of scrapbooking? I’m trying to reorganize my craft space (for the umpteenth) time and I’m just not finding a useful way of organizing it and wondering if there are photos/blog entries out there that could help. I searched Costco island used for scrapbooking but didn’t get any hits.

I remember that! I've been checking out IKEA islands. I like this work bench: link

Yes! Thanks lindas. Again, the magic of Pea sleuthing. You don't have this by any chance do you?

Yes! Thanks lindas . Again, the magic of Pea sleuthing. You don't have this by any chance do you? No, unfortunately not in my current craft room. I did have something similar though in my previous house. DH made me an island using kitchen cabinets as the base and then had a place that made laminated countertops make a top to fit. The Ikea kallax cubes would give you the same effect, you’d just need to have a top made.

I made my own out of Crop In Style cubes back in the day after seeing one someone had posted on 2Peas in the heyday of scrapbooking. You could do something similar with any kind of stacking cubes really. Mine is built with eight cubes on each side, four long and two high, with a countertop on top and a custom built base on the bottom that holds them all together. DH constructed the base frame out of 2x4s the same size as the footprint of the stacked cubes with a piece of plywood on top, and MDF trim nailed to the outside that is a bit taller to keep the bottom of the stacked cubes square.
ETA: Mine doesn’t have spots where you can sit like the one in the linked pic, but that could easily be achieved by using any small shelving units of the same size on either end with a countertop placed on top.
ETA2: One thing I discovered years later was that not all of the cubes that are currently available for scrapbook supplies will hold 12x12 materials especially if they are being housed in Iris or similar bins/totes. If you are looking for something that will hold storage like that be sure to bring one with you to make sure it will fit in a sample built cube or shelf in the store. When I moved in 2012 and wanted to find similar sized cubes or shelving to put in a closet in my new house, I couldn’t find ANYTHING commercially available that would hold those totes. I ended up having a custom shelf and closet guy come in and build a custom shelf for that closet to meet my specific dimensions.

Me! I have this! I don't have a blog post or take any pictures but I can help (maybe). I use it for storing my big Iris cases with all the seasonal/special project stuff/not routinely needed on the back shelves. I've rearranged the movable shelves around so it fits certain things...like one is shortened to hold only my trimmer and glass mat. The bottom holds a basket to be used for storing my 12x12 kits in their bags. What are you struggling with rearranging?

Do you have this and are looking for help with how to utilize it or are you considering purchasing it and wondering how others have utilized it? If you are considering a purchase I'd recommend something with both drawers (I prefer wide shallow drawers) and shelf/cube space. But a lot is going to depend on how you scrap (sit, stand, do you need access/storage for machines), what you need to store and what other storage you already have.

peano Have you searched on Pinterest? I just did now and there are literally dozens of things that pop up. Try searching with the terms “cube island scrapbooking craft storage” and you will get a lot of hits.

If you are looking to build, I highly recommend the Target Threshold cubes over the Kallax, they are really pretty and seem sturdier. My husband made a table top for mine and used an IKEA leg frame underneath it (we already had that so it was cheaper then making legs) and that way mine is height adjustable. The cubes won’t hold the bulky containers, but they hold 12x12 paper quite easily. I have most of my stuff in kits so that is what is in mine. They also hold finished albums and closed containers I got from the dollar tree this summer. Pinterest has a ton of ideas.

Not sure if you're looking for ideas on how to build a similar one or how to organize one? I think the Costco one was a less expensive knock off of a pottery barn one. Maybe try searching for pottery barn workstation?

I have one but mine is not very well organized. I use the shelves mostly for old photos I have in photo boxes. Right now I have my office set up on it since I’m WFH, so not using it for scrapping.

I have a similar set up, but with drawers. I used Jetmaxx cubes, which were the precursor to the cubes you can buy at Michael’s. The table is a standard 60” (5 feet) square bar-height table. I can either stand or sit to scrap and everything is hidden away in drawers. They fit 3 across. I do have a set of narrow plastic 12” drawers on the back side corner where I keep all of my paper scraps organized by color. I love this, as so often I just need a 4x4 scrap of paper. So 14 cubes and the drawers. It was easy to put together and I didn’t need DH to build anything. Attachments:

Uncertain whether you’re inquiring about purchasing the island or organizing it:
Purchase - Consider a DIY approach, & place an Ikea prefab tabletop, door without knob hole, or other flat material atop (2) 2x2 Ikea Kallax or similar cubby style bookcases.
Organization - Search “Pottery Barn Bedford Project Table” for storage ideas.

Yes! Thanks lindas . Again, the magic of Pea sleuthing. You don't have this by any chance do you? I have 2 sitting in my garage. I don't have a place for them currently. So they are stacked on top of each other in the garage.
