You are welcomed to join this group and set your daily/weekly fitness goals with us. January is always a great time to reset your exercise routine or just get started. All levels are free to participate! I changed the name of this group from "Exercise With Me" to "Exercise With Us" because we are a group of peas trying to stay active. This is our thread to cheer and encourage each other. If you are NEW here:1. Jump in and and we look forward to meeting you and cheering for you. 2. Tell us your goal(s) for the week and pop in daily or at the end of the week and tell us how you did. If you missed a few weeks, feel free to jump back in. Let's have a great week, everyone!

My arm is feeling better so I am so excited to do some light yoga this week and walking.

It is going to be hard for me to meet my goals this week. It is predicted that we're going to have a pretty wet week--so I may not be doing much walking! I'll try to do some other things.

My goals this week are to be as active as I can be - weather is going to be a factor for me. I am back up north for 5 days, and of course a snowstorm is expected this evening.
I plan to do 2 or 3 YouTube weights workouts, 30 minutes each. I hope to go skiing one of the days I am here. I also want to get out the snowshoes while I am here. However, my time here is going to be kind of busy because I came home to spend some time with my mom, and my friends are also clamoring to see me as well.
My biggest goal for this week? Keep the eating in check. It would be too easy to splash out at every meal because we are not stocking the fridge for such a short trip.
For the judge-y Pea crew tracking Covid behavior - we have negative tests and flew private for this trip.

I forgot to post last week. But I did meet my usual goal last wee. I had a lazy weekend, so I really need to work on meeting my goal of 37,500 steps this week. Our prediction is for snow, not wet. It can actually be pretty and pleasant to walk in the snow, so I am hopeful.

I need some motivation, so I think I'm going to try to post goals/results with you guys here. Its cold/snowy where I am, so I dont always get to go (or just choose not to go) on my long walks (5-7 km). I haven't been to a gym since last spring...and I am getting more and more out of shape as each day passes. As a 50+ woman, I know it takes longer to shed fat and gain muscle as I age, so I can't put it off any longer. On Saturday night, our TV's shopping channel was advertising the Pilates Pro Chair, and all of the online reviews I looked at gave it great ratings. It was a good price, so I made the purchase. It likely wont get here for 2 more weeks. So in the mean time, I will strive to do 2 walks this week, and do Yoga 3 times with Adrienne.

Hi ladies! I'm going to try to check in with y'all as often as I can.
I'm not sure if anyone knows/remembers me but I've lost 100 lbs over the last 17 years and have kept it off. A few years ago, I was actually down 150lbs but I've slowly put 55 lbs back on. I'm still considered severely obese so ideally I'd like to lose another 100 lbs. But I'll settle for 50-60.
Since the beginning of the year, I've been trying to eat healthier and make better choices. I haven't been consistent though and am only down a couple of lbs total. So today I'm committing once again to do better.
My teenage girls have been harping at me too get walking again. I have arthritis and sometimes deal with hip pain. The first week in January I walked but then had some hip issues and took the next week off. Then used the excuse of having some suspicious spots removed at the dermatology office to not walk last week. So today, I went downstairs to my workout area and hit the treadmill for 30 mins. I walk slower than a turtle through a pool of peanut butter but I did it.
I've done so many types of weight loss programs over the years. Weight watchers, whole 30, tried keto, etc. I lost the most weight doing the Whole 30 but for me it wasn't sustainable, hence why I gained back 50+ lbs. So this time around, I'm trying to eat what I want(watching calories) and just keep portions small. I don't "fry" any foods but do sautee using EVOO.
Anyway, my goal for the next month is just to be consistent with walking and trying to keep my eating in check.

Since Jan 3, I have walked at least 10000 steps every day. While my goal is 15000 per day, I am pleased with the daily step count so far. I am also watching portions, cutting back on carbs and seeing results in both my glucose numbers and how my clothes are currently fitting. Love to walk!

I was only able to get in 1.5 miles today. It was COLD and WINDY here--and a bit of rain and we even saw some snow flakes for a while. No accumulation at all, but we loved it! The kids were disappointed we didn't get enough for a snowball fight! (and to tell the truth, I was a little disappointed too.) We're supposed to have more rain tomorrow with lots of wind, so I probably won't get too many miles in tomorrow either.

We are getting a decent amount of snow today. I did buy a spin bike and dumbbells for the winter and plan to walk on nice days. I'm 55 and while I've been doing well since Oct, I find that recovery is a bit slower. I did a 30 minute spin class last night followed by yoga and this morning I woke up with a tired body. No pain due to exercise but fatigued. This week so far: Sunday- Yoga with Adriene Day 23 Monday- 30 minute spin class + YWA Day 24 Tuesday- YWA Day 25 + ? maybe a recovery bike ride. Gently peddling through the countryside LOL. BTW ladies, the Peloton app is free for 60 days (offer ends Jan 31) and you don't need their bike. It can be used with any spin bike or no bike at all. That would take you until the end of March when the weather starts to get better and then you can cancel 😉 It includes cycling, yoga, strength training, stretching, running, walking etc. I'm probably going to do that in the next day or two. I play apps on my ipad and throw it electronically to the big screen tv in my basement.

I walked about 1.5 miles yesterday. Also did some stretches--that I am really feeling today, so it must have been good right?? Today I've been up and down a ladder about 140 times rearranging the top shelves in my closets. ugh!! NOT something I wanted to do, but I needed to find a spot for some blankets!

I had so many meetings Monday (plus got my period) so I slacked and didn't do a workout. BUT, I did do one Sunday, Tuesday and today, at least 45 min each day.
Tomorrow will be some more cardio (today was strength). I've discovered the HIIT cardio workouts in the Peloton app. They're kinda brutal, but super efficient, so I'm doing 20-30 minutes of those plus a 15-30 min cycle workout.
Burpees suck, though, so when they do burpees in the Peloton app, I just do jumping jacks. I am not doing burpees. PERIOD. 😂

Congratulations to those of you who made your goals. Like tentoes , kibblesandbits and sawwhet, we had bad weather - an ice storm Tuesday and very low temperature with windchill on Friday. I did not make my weekday goal, but we did make up for it with a long one yesterday. lindah , how are you getting all those steps? We can do it in the good weather but find it difficult these cold, short days. So happy you are seeing results. peajays let us know how you like your Pilates chair after it arrives and you use it a bit. brandy327 , I like your goals! Realistic, achievable, healthy. Best wishes. kellyr21 , thanks for keeping us all on track and encouraging us to be healthy! Congrats on the results you are seeing for yourself. I'll catch you all in February.

jjpeapea, I walk both on the treadmill and have a “path” inside my house that I walk for 10 minutes every hour that I have free. Am retired, so have plenty of free time. Also, when the weather is cooperative, I can walk outside on my driveway and down our road which leads to a cow pasture.

my week ended up not at all like I planned, other than I didn't eat my face off because we were traveling. Little wins.
Got lots of steps in, but no weights. Snowshoe trip one day, winter hike the next day, then a trail walk that same day with my best friend. So on Thursday I got in over 8 miles. I absolutely loved being able to be out in the snow. Would have loved to stay longer, but DH didn't bring enough medication with him to stay.

This last week of January, I also started intermittent fasting, eating only 12:30 p.m. up until about 6:30-7:00 p.m. and trying NOT to eat an entire large bag of chips in about two days.
I need to lose the COVID weight I gained from not regularly running. I was also disappointed yesterday when I saw myself in the mirror while out shopping and all of the definition in my upper thighs is just gone ~sigh~
Honestly, my doctor would prefer that I did not run due to lower back issues, so cycling is a good (but not great) alternative, I am at least doing something. I need to look into some leg/arm toning exercises/stretches, because I could certainly use both.
I will join in the February group to keep me in check.
