Posted in general also.
It was announced in the TH Addicts group yesterday that Sizzix is retiring the Vagabond 2. People are being advised to buy it now, as when it is gone, it is gone. There will be a TH version of a fold-away hand crank machine released in April, and a TH version of the Sizzix Switch+ released in August. They apparently will not have the same "aesthetic" as the Vagabond. I am guessing that refers to the vintage look of it.
I have the original, never had problems that some people had with it. I did purchase the 2 yesterday. (I only break my Sizzix boycott for TH items.) I do not like any of the other electric cutters and don't want to go back to a crank one. And the Switch+ looks to be more expensive than I would want to pay, and will not be out for a while. I do not want my machine to quit and then nothing suitable be available to replace it. The Switch was shown at Creativation last year, not the TH version, but I have not heard anything else about it. I came across a suggested retail price of like $265 or something. Too much. Although it will take the thin and thick dies. But so will the much less expensive suitcase one that is on it's way, LOL.

I have the Vagabond 2 I don't use it now because I was gifted a Gemini and I like how it does a better job on intricate dies and its taking up less room on my desk. Now its next to me instead having a separate cutting station. It works better for me. I have about 10 bigz dies and I use my Vagabond to cut them out and I will hold on to it as a backup machine. I think I have all the cutting plates I need with it.

Cutting plates should not be a problem to get. They are the standard sizzix ones that fit the Big Shot also. They are not going anywhere, thankfully!
I have a lot of the Bigz dies, otherwise I would look into the Gemini! Only have space for one machine.
