What do you do if you have a single page without a companion?
I usually plan my pages two at a time, unless I am doing a cover or a last page of an album, or a calendar page. But occassionally I will complete a page, thinking I will do something with the other half later. But those thoughts and plans don't always turn themselves into pages. And sometimes I forget that I already did that facing page, and create ANOTHER one before the pages get into my album.
I scrap by season, but not always chronologically. But my albums are organized in time order. What do I do with that lonely page?

I have moved away from double page layouts in the last few years, but used to exclusively do double page layouts. If there happened to be an empty spot, I would usually try to scrap something specifically on a single page to put there, otherwise I would in a piece of paper with a quote, or a real feature piece of paper that would fit the theme. I have also blown up a single picture to 12x12 put in that spot.

I will leave the spot empty and place the next two page layout on the next two pages. When, and if, I have time I might go back and create a layout that coordinates or at least doesn't clash with the one page layout.

This is why I prefer to plan out my pages ahead of time, so I can make sure my 2 pagers are together and to make sure my singles have a single mate for the opposite page.
Sometimes it means I have to shuffle the order of their appearances slightly, but as long as the events are in a roughly chronological order, I'm happy.
And if I'm absolutely stuck, I can just make up a filler page from a not so great photo I hadn't intended to use.

I usually start with selecting the best of a group of photos. If I can see that I don't really have enough for two pages I'll adjust the size of titles and embellishments. Sometimes I'll enlarge one photo to a 5x7 or 8x10 and put that on a page by itself.

I just leave it blank until I have another single page layout. It’s not necessarily created specifically for that spot though. It won’t be coordinated in any way

I often use a full sheet of one of those bold patterned papers that I don't know how to actually use in a layout. Or something that I love and just can't bear to cut.

I just stick another one page layout next to it. I don’t mind if they don’t match.

I stick a piece of coordinating cardstock or patterned paper into the sleeve. I just want a "finished" look. If I find/do another one-page layout that fits close to the chronological sequence the space is ready.

When you start an album you have a single page to start, so your first layout would be a 3 pager. In the middle of your album the same thing could happen.

I scrap one and two page layouts and I scrap mostly chronologically. When I have an empty page I fill it with the next chronological one page layout. It has never bothered me to have non-matching layouts next to each other.

I do single layouts and two page (or more) layouts. I've done up to 20 pages layouts for a single event (Halloween party) where I took over a hundred photo(take lots of photos was requested by the hostess and I was happy to oblige). There were so many great photos(of the decor, costumes, singing karaoke, various groups of people>> family- work friends- regular friend- neighbors-etc...), so I used the majority of them in my layouts.
If I have a single layout, then the opposite page is what I call a "filler page". I usually scrapbook in chronological order, but on occasion I go out of order(not more than a week or two) and use a filler page. Filler pages are.....cat layout, lunch out with friend, silly selfie with Niece, etc...where I have just enough photos for one layout. Those page layouts fill in gaps.

I voted other because I usually stick a random single page in. Usually one that isn’t chronological like a favourite somethings page or a now and then page or something. If I don’t have anything, I just leave it blank.

I have to say that as the shameful scrapper who didn’t put tons of layouts in albums, this was the biggest issue. I do both equally though I seem to be doing more one page. I have given up any idealistic dreams of having anything in perfect chronological order! If I can get it in the same year I’m ok with that. However going forward I have been much better about planning my albums. It’s definitely worth the effort (and a few post it notes) to plan it out.

I have several blank pages from albums many years ago and really have no photos to fill them in, but I can use these ideas.

On the exceptionally rare occasion that I have too few photos for a two page layout, I would do a single page layout with coordinating colors, so the pages don’t clash. They don’t have to match, but they do have to look good next to each other.

Most of my scrapping is travel albums and so mostly double pages because I take too many pictures. If I do have a single page, I just put another single page LO next to it from the same trip. While I do try to do most trips in roughly chrono order, it doesn't always work out that way - I will have food pages and beach pages etc, that are from the whole trip, not just one day.

I selected "Create a facing page especially for the spot." I would never leave a page blank. And if I couldn't find any photos to make another single page LO, I would do a LO about what TV shows I am currently watching, or something like that. So it still fits in chronologically, and you don't have to try and match colours to the photos - you can choose colours that co-ordinate with the first page.

I chose "Slip in a sheet of coordinating cardstock/paper," but I do other things too. Sometimes I just put a single-page layout in there, even though it might be slightly out of chronological order.

Uncertain whether I'm your target audience, since I scrap a mix of 1-2+ page layouts. If I have an uncoupled single page layout in a chronological album, I first determine whether another page (e.g. perhaps with additional photos, an expanded story, or an introduction to the next section of the album) should be added to it or the layouts before or after it. If not, my next step is reviewing photos taken between the dates of layouts before & after the single layout & the list of stories I want to include in the album. If there's an event that I had debated scrapping or a photo that could be used to support a story that I haven't yet scrapped, I may create a layout specifically for the vacancy. Otherwise, I fill the void with an already completed single layout either of an event from same time period (all layouts are dated, so the viewer knows when it occured) or a moment-type layout (e.g. traits, favorites, advice) that's undated & not related to a specific event. I ensure the layouts do NOT coordinate as a signal to the viewer they are individual layouts, not a two-page layout of the same event/topic. HTH.

I’m in the process of getting a backlog of layouts done so for now I’m just putting them into the appropriate binder—vacation, family, etc. Once they’re sorted I will fill any blank with a piece of cardstock. I do like the idea riversong1963 suggested regarding doing a one photo page layout. There always seem to be a few pictures I end up not scrapping.

I chose other because I scrap chronologically. But I also scrap lots of single pages. So if there is no single page I can find to go opposite, I might put memorabilia, or a pocket page with greeting cards or letters, or a certificate, anything that doesn't have to go any particular place but could fit there.
