And do you know your style? I love watching Nicole Bingaman on YouTube. I was watching this recent video where she talks about designs that she likes that come together quickly for her. I realized I don't really have a design style with go tos that come together in a way that makes fast layouts. I'm kind of all over the place and the slowest part for me is embellishing. I don't necessarily want all my layouts to be fast, but sometimes I do. What works for you for fast layouts and when do you choose to slow down? bingaling, tell us how you developed your style.

I love watching bingaling too. She has an awesome YouTube channel. I love the notebook edge die she uses! For me, I wouldn't call it a style really, but every time I have more than 3 photos, I have a tendency to rely on a grid placement. Not every time, but too often. Because it's easy. Is being lazy a stylistic choice?

Brain not working.

My personal style is simple, clean, & linear with extensive journaling. I have a "go-to" design for each of 1, 2, 3, 4, & multiple (on the second of a 2-pg layout) photo layouts, but strive not to overuse them to ensure variety in each album. IMHO "fast scrapping" is relative. I'm creatively-challenged, indecisive, precise (ie a t-ruler is my most-used tool!), & a slow scrapper, so "fast scrapping" for me is rarely achieved even when repeating the same designs with supplies previously selected & journaling already completed!

Ummm...I think my style could be “How many layers of patterned paper did you put on that layout?!” I also have a tendency to say something like, “It’s not a layout by Amy unless I’ve glued stuff down and then peeled it up again,” usually about repositioning the photo or realizing I have another layer I want to put in. My “go to” type of layout involves an L. Lay a long vertical patterned paper. Add a shorter horizontal piece to form an L. Picture goes on the corner. If I’m feeling crazy, I rotate the L so maybe it’s a long horizontal and short vertical. Wild and crazy I tell you! In this layout, I built the horizontal piece with photo layers and the embellishments on the right.

Is being lazy a stylistic choice? Is MESSY a style? That would be mine...
Just quickly looked at the flurry of pages I have put together this month. I tend to have different styles for how many photos I have.
For one photo on a page, I use lots of overlapping topsy turvy layers, some probably torn. The tilting and the tearing is a design choice, but it is also a time choice. When I do that I don't need to spend alot of time measuring and lining things up perfectly.
When I have more than a couple of photos, I tend to use a modified grid, often with different photo orientations, hardly ever with all pic's meeting at the same corner, but with all photos in one cluster. I sometimes overlap photos as well.
Other time saving tricks I use are to base my whole LO on one collection, and to scrap pages with the same theme one after another. I may use some elements not part of the base collection, but if everything on my desk is focused on birthdays or summer fun or harvest, then what I grab will probably tie in quickly with the colours and images on that collection.
Also, if I scrap every day or nearly every day, decisions come easily and pages almost make themselves! Starting up after a break each page is a much slower process.

My style would probably be called Repeat, Repeat, Repeat!
I am all about visual triangles. And repeated colors and elements.

I think my go to is a band design. Especially lately my pages tend to have a strip that spans the full 12" or pretty close to it, or has a series of elements that add up to a 12" strip. The width varies depending on whether I'm building a grid of photos (something else I'm doing a lot lately) or just anchoring a photo on it. I find it a really versatile starting point.

Oh, and my style is clean layered. I either do lots of layers of white on white under my photos which tend to be a little bit messy, or I do a mix of patterns but then keep the layering really neat and orderly. My journaling is often in narrow strips, and I love little sprinkly bits of mist or enamel dots to finish off my clusters.

For some random photos that don't have a theme I pick a color and do a monochromatic page. So all shades of orange with orange embellishments, an orange title and orange journaling strips on a white background. The squares of patterned paper are usually in a grid in the center of the page. It uses up random embellishments, it uses up scraps, and I don't have to dig through all my stuff to find something that works because it's all from one drawer. OK sometimes I do have to go looking for something or other to finish the page off...

I was a slow, meticulous, almost boring scrapper until about four years ago when I discovered Shimelle’s videos. The way she cut pieces apart, adhered as she went, layered patterns, and used color really inspired me. My style is not exactly like hers but I like to think it’s similar! I love her collections, too.
ETA: My go-to designs are two vertical or two horizontal photos stacked next to each other and matted.

Stripes. I can usually do a fast layout with stripes. No idea why but that’s how my brain works.
After stripes, a repetitive pattern is also semi speedy.
I have my biggest issue when trying to use specific or themed paper that is not an all over pattern.
That being said my last 2 12x12 layouts have been on not stripes, not repetitive paper. But these particular papers just called to me when I saw them and I found the pictures for them. But they aren’t heavily themed or anything. What these papers had were, they have an off center pattern that seemed to lead the layout placement making it easy peasy.

More like sketches. I hate figuring out the design of a page. Sketches speed them up immensely.

I am not a fast scrapper. Years behind, and I am okay with that. It will get done when it gets done.
My style is what I call old school. The style that was around in the earlier years of the scrapbooking craze. I like patterned paper. I like to mix and match patterns(stripes, polkadots, checkered, floral, etc...). I love stickers. Bigger stickers. No tiny sticker sneeze. I love frames. I mat my photos. I like bright, bold colors. I will do a one page layout or 20 pages of layouts... based on the number of photos per event, photo op, night out, moment, etc... I scrapbook in chronological order, by year(January to December). 8.5 x 11.
Not a fan of muted or pastel colors. Not a fan of vintage.

I don't really have a go to design, just wanted to say thanks for linking to the video and blog hop. That is really enjoyable!

These 2 recent layouts are typical of my go to style. I scrap fast and this helps me use my patterned paper stash and embellishments, and my big sticker stash. I use a border across the bottom, and group my photos in the center. I use mats and often frame the layout and cut out the middle of the frame and use it to mat the photos. .

I'm not sure "slow" is a style! Seriously, it seems to take me forever and I haven't done a 12x12 in a year. Did a TN for the first half of 2020 - just of our camping trips / outdoor adventures. Then I've done some 12x12 pocket pages for the last half of the year, hoping it would kick-start my creativity... Thanks for asking the question and for those sharing - hoping it will give me some juice

I definitely know my style. I tend to do two page layouts with 3 to 5 photos, each photo being separate and distinct enough that the viewer will look at each photo, even if for only a half a second. I sometimes have more page decoration, sometimes less. It depends on the photos. The photos drive the design.
I’d rather spend more time on a layout and be happy with it. Every time I try to speed up the process, I regret the results.
I don’t use sketches. They feel like I am forcing myself into someone else’s style, and they take me a lot more time than designing my layout from scratch myself.
I think everyone has to find what works for them. I’m comfortable with my scrapping process. I just need to make more time to scrapbook.
