Our high school has symphony orchestra that includes brass and woodwinds and chamber orchestra which is just winds I think. We have 4 different groups - just strings, concert band (usually everyone that signs up), orchestra (select strings and woods, have to audition), and wind ensemble (also audition). Strings and wind have two different teachers.

Lol. Someone needs to point out that the actual purpose of a mask is to cover your mouth! (and nose of course, but mouths are included in the proper usage of a mask ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg) ) -- So everyone's mouth is uncovered *and* they're blowing harder than they would be if they were just talking. okay...

Are there any studies showing effectiveness of these masks? That's crazy. Our choir still can't meet and sing with masks on. wait your choir can't meet or they can't sing without masks?

Bands don't have strings. Orchestras can have it all.

They can't meet in person at all, even with masks. The class is still held remotely and they sing over zoom/webex - can never remember what system we're currently using.

My trumpet player will be 100% online for the rest of the year. No masks needed when you get your lessons over Zoom.

I forget most schools aren't in person. Actually most classes are hybrid right now, but not choir - or any other music classes - they all stayed fully remote. Not sure what others also stayed remote.

I’ve seen some that were made specifically for sports and they have a slit in between some of the layers so that you can drink with a straw. I haven’t seen them in use to see if they are more effective at keeping germs from being spread than they sound...

My middle school trombone player (hybrid twice a week) is only rehearsing outside with half the band, distanced of course. They are masked up any time they aren’t playing or when they are stuck inside for inclement weather.
