As much as I’m amused by this, I’m not sure it matters much.

He could put up no defense at all and he still won’t be convicted.

We aren’t talking about a trial by an impartial jury. All of the senators have already decided how they’re voting and there aren’t enough votes to convict.

And this is why the five attorneys have left his defense team I’m guessing.

I think the 5 will vote to impeach. But unless McConnell flips, you won't see the 17 needed.

Frankly, since we all know the Republicans are going to let him off, I'd hate for him to defend himself and then be able to say he's the best lawyer there ever was even though he never went to law school because he's such a stable genius and everyone says so and just last week a big burly Marine came up to him and said, tears in his eyes, he said, "Sir, I hope you are found innocent of everything the evil Democrats and liberal media accuse you of doing. Everyone knows the election was stolen from you and you're the real president of the true patriots of America."

If there's no chance there will be enough GOP votes to convict him, might as well have those two geniuses represent him  for comedic value.

Not only would Trump be an uncooperative client, these attorneys aren’t going to get paid. They know that. I’m also guessing that they don’t see the need to forever associate themselves with this mess, especially in light of the fact that they know that he won’t be convicted. Trump doesn’t need them, nor do they need him.

Regardless. He’s not going to need one. A defense team. Aren’t Republicans pretty much telling everyone to go home, nothing to see here?

The foregone conclusion is that they will not vote to convict.

It won’t matter. People who still vote GOP will say that the police officers are “deep state,” or that they’ve been “gotten to” by Antifa or George Soros or the demon du jour. I don’t believe there is anything that will break their mass delusion.

What struck me most about the videos of the mod attacking the Capitol was the anger the mob displayed. The way they were attacking the door. How they had no problem squeezing that one police officer in the door.

And while I don’t believe they had a video of it or if they did didn’t show it, how the mob had no problem beating to death that one officer with a fire extinguisher.

The problem with a mob is once they get wound up there is no controlling them. Especially after being edged on as they had been for weeks by trump and his minions with the lies they told.

Vicious brutality best describes that mob.

So if the Republicans in Congress thought they would have been safe if this mob had run across them, they’re kidding themselves.

And in my opinion the Democrats should drive that point home again and again.  
In other words drive home the point Republican Senators could have been beaten to death with fire extinguishers by a mob incited by trump.  And while members of that mob are being held accountable so should the primary instigator regardless if he is in or out of office.

Also point out over 100 hundred officers were injured protecting their collective asses from a mob sent by the President of the United States.
