As much as Iâm amused by this, Iâm not sure it matters much.
He could put up no defense at all and he still wonât be convicted.
We arenât talking about a trial by an impartial jury. All of the senators have already decided how theyâre voting and there arenât enough votes to convict.

Dh and I were talking about it this evening - the main positive is that evidence will be presented and recorded. The GOP Senators who vote against convicting him will not, unlike last time, be able to claim deniability as to awareness of the evidence of Trumpâs actions. And hopefully, some voters will hold them accountable for that.

But but he would have to answer questions from the prosecuters... Let his hoards watch that hot mess. He would have 20 different answers to the same question.

That's the article I have been searching for....
There are a few democrats and republicans who are trying to see if they would be able to censure dt and still bar him from future offices.
I saw an article somewhere and cannot find it now, in fact I forgot what I was looking for, but knew I would know when it was found. You triggered it!!!!

Frankly, since we all know the Republicans are going to let him off, I'd hate for him to defend himself and then be able to say he's the best lawyer there ever was even though he never went to law school because he's such a stable genius and everyone says so and just last week a big burly Marine came up to him and said, tears in his eyes, he said, "Sir, I hope you are found innocent of everything the evil Democrats and liberal media accuse you of doing. Everyone knows the election was stolen from you and you're the real president of the true patriots of America."

I agree that it doesnât matter who represents him, the collective Republican balls are apparently still held in a desk drawer at Mar-a-Lago.
What Iâd like to see is some of the police officers there on Jan.6th called as witnesses. These punk-ass Republicans and their law and order mantra should have to sit thru nationally televised testimony to what those Trump loving cretins did in the name of their chosen one.

My only tweak would be that the Marine be handsome Handsome in addition to big and burly and patriotic and tearful.

Not only would Trump be an uncooperative client, these attorneys arenât going to get paid. They know that. Iâm also guessing that they donât see the need to forever associate themselves with this mess, especially in light of the fact that they know that he wonât be convicted. Trump doesnât need them, nor do they need him.

Trump doesnât need them, nor do they need him. It is good that they refused to go along with his preferred defense about the election. Now that he is no longer President, he might find it more challenging to hire sycophants. That said, I agree that it would not be good to have him argue his own case.

Interesting scenarios/conclusions.
Regardless. Heâs not going to need one. A defense team. Arenât Republicans pretty much telling everyone to go home, nothing to see here?
The foregone conclusion is that they will not vote to convict.
Weâve seen this play out before.

He could put up no defense at all and he still wonât be convicted. He won't be convicted because of the Republicans are only looking out for their positions and not the best outcome for the country. Spineless b*stards.....

I donât believe there is anything that will break their mass delusion.

What struck me most about the videos of the mod attacking the Capitol was the anger the mob displayed. The way they were attacking the door. How they had no problem squeezing that one police officer in the door.
And while I donât believe they had a video of it or if they did didnât show it, how the mob had no problem beating to death that one officer with a fire extinguisher.
The problem with a mob is once they get wound up there is no controlling them. Especially after being edged on as they had been for weeks by trump and his minions with the lies they told.
Vicious brutality best describes that mob.
So if the Republicans in Congress thought they would have been safe if this mob had run across them, theyâre kidding themselves.
And in my opinion the Democrats should drive that point home again and again. In other words drive home the point Republican Senators could have been beaten to death with fire extinguishers by a mob incited by trump. And while members of that mob are being held accountable so should the primary instigator regardless if he is in or out of office.
Also point out over 100 hundred officers were injured protecting their collective asses from a mob sent by the President of the United States.
