28-4-28 is here! 28 challenges in 28 days. Here is the challenge for February 1: The challenge today is to use a grid in your project. It could be as big as the page or as small as a hashtag, it is up to you. Some ideas include putting matted photos in a grid, using washi tape to make the lines, hand drawing a flowy grid, or using a die cut. The twist is to use a heart in your project. 1 extra point if the heart is between the grid lines. So 1 point for using a grid, 1 point for using a heart or hearts, 1 bonus point if the heart is enclosed in the grid. That's 5 points for doing both the challenge and the twist, and 6 points for doing everything. Here is my layout example: And since I love cards, here is a card example:

Oh I love grids! And I was just thinking today of a LO idea for all our quarantine activities. This challenge will fit in perfectly with what I was thinking of doing.

Great way to kick us off jjpeapea! I love your layout so much. It looks great as a cut out, and I like the way the title extends outside the square. Such a cute & clever card too.

I love your layout jjpeapea, and how you have everything backed behind those windows. Grids layouts are my go-to because they're such a great way to get a ton of photos on a page. This one is the companion page to a birthday layout that will have the title and a couple of larger photos on it. The background paper is from PinkFresh Celebrate

msliz That was a great way to capture lots of expressions and moments. And you snuck a heart in the grid, , I like how your embellishments add interest without taking over.

Way to get us started, jjpeapea. Great story and great way to tell it. I like your choices of elements to go into/across each square. I knew you would be one of the first to this one, msliz! Love all the fun photos of your girls taken against that brick wall. Awesome grid. Love the bits of embellishments spilling over the one photo. I cleaned off my scrap counters yesterday, and although my fingers are itching to get right into this, my mind is full of too many ways it COULD be done... Hmmm... washi & spritz? And I need to Step. Away. From. Christmas . Maybe should have used some of the diecuts I stowed away yesterday in a couple of grid backgrounds for next year? But I don't dare open than cabinet door...

Here's my take: I was inspired to do a "zoom" style grid with all our miscellaneous quarantine photos. 28-4-28 #1 safe at home by Schroema, on Flickr jjpeapea I love your Christmas kindness theme! I love the way your journaling fits in the boxes of your grid. msliz I agree- I love grids for adding lots of photos!

schroema, your zoom layout is really fun. I made a zoom style layout a few months back, but I didn't think to add icons. They're a smart touch and they add a lot. jeremysgirl, I love those cheery colors!

Awesome grids, Ladies! Hoping to look more closely at them on Flickr. I have my background put together for this one, and hope to get that LO done tomorrow.
And I actually used a grid pattern for the sample for one of MY challenge samples (that grid is not part of the challenge)

schroema, using a zoom theme really works and the little button-like circles at the bottom will help document why we need zoom. Thank you for sharing. jeremysgirl thank you for showing us your special people. I enjoyed the symmetry and balance in your layout. And the colors!

jjpeapea , I love the grid you used for your example. The red, white and green are so pretty together. Very clever grid design on your card. I love the little pockets for hearts and kisses. msliz , and grammadee I left love in the gallery for your pages. jeremysgirl , I love the way your title doesn't stay within the grid and brings all the squares together. Very pretty layout.

Thanks for the fun challenge. I love using grids, and I have so many saved layouts to scraplift that it was hard to choose which one to do. I started off using a template, but only ended up keeping the circles and a couple of elements, and adding the rest from a kit I bought the other day. A circular grid, wow! I like how you think outside the square or rectangle. I love the color combo - is it close to the Pantone colors of the year? The light aqua goes great with those tones. Another very, very cute dog!

I went looking for your page on Flickr, jeremysgirl, but didn't find it. Wanted to say how much I love the photos and your fresh colours and patterns. It all pops so nicely on that soft yellow background. I think I have caught the others in the Gallery.

I've been playing along with the She's Crafty sketch/6x6 paper pad challenge on youtube and conveniently one of the sketches was a grid. Here's my page using some Christmas card fronts from the 2peas card swap a couple of years ago in place of the patterned papers.

Chinagirl828 What a great layout! It has your light, sweet, balanced style. My daughter watched "Christmas with a Prince" and the sequel multiple times over the holidays. My favorite was "A Very Merry Mixup" - set in a small town where one of the families is warm and accepting, of course.
