gillyp I can't count the number of times that has happened to me. My absolute favorite is when my dog comes up to me while I'm working get tangled, then runs away. She will drag a string of yarn all around the house. And I will be chasing her to grab it back and she thinks that's a game so she keeps going.

Yes, pets and yarn are a game waiting to happen, aren’t they. Thankfully this wasn’t much and the piece I’m working on is ok. This particular yarn is like a drug to them and they can not resist it.

lainey - what is the name of that sock pattern please? I am mostly making plain socks lately but would like some pretty, but easy patterns for my plain yarns. It's this one Viscerion It's a really fun to knit pattern.

lainey those are fun. Look like little alligators. They really do I think I'll refer to them as my alligator socks.

It is lovely seeing what everyone makes. I used to craft every week , mainly papercrafting but things have been on pause for the past couple of years , hopefully I can get back to it in the not too distant future.
I love looking at different fabrics and yarns too, I tried quilting , sewing and knitting but struggled with it and kept going wrong. Things ended up inside out and upside down or totally skewwhiff.
It is good to see photos , it brings it all to life.

Ugh. My current WIP, current as opposed to those in hibernation, clearly knows that I was thinking of being unfaithful to it by wanting to start a new project this evening. I only thought about it, I’ve not started anything but as a consequence I have spent the evening working and frogging then working and frogging again and now I see I need to frog a further two rows. Sigh.

gillyp that sucks. I've listened to you guys enough to know that that was way too heavy a consequence for just a thought of a side piece. 😉 lainey I thought of alligators too and dubbed them snapper socks. Now no getting drunk on St Patrick's Day and finding yourself with a snapper. 😅 @ktc welcome. It's a ton of fun here and holy cats do these girls make fantastic things!

Now no getting drunk on St Patrick's Day and finding yourself with a snapper. 😅 I'd completely forgotten about St patrick's day, it's odd because there's absolutely nothing going on. The shops, pubs and restaurants are all closed, there's no parade and no tourists I think I'll just wear my alligator snapper socks and raise a cup of earl grey. I made a little test swatch of the Painting Honeycombs shawl yesterday to make sure I understand the pattern, it took me three attempts to get the icord cast on right but the rest of the pattern is very simple. I'm going to cast it on for real later and have it as a long term project, I think it'll be good for using up leftovers from socks.

We’re not talking about the socks 😉 Safe to say progress is slow and the thought of finishing this one then having to do it all over again isn’t thrilling me 😁

Maybe use the yarn for something you'd find more enjoyable?
This is my little test piece for the shawl. It's taken six goes but I've cast on for the actual shawl now, I strongly dislike the i-cord.

Yes, life's too short to force myself to finish them I think...the wool won't go to waste though That looks like a complicated pattern but you'll master it

There are some really pretty yarns on that premier site. Do you know if any stores carry that brand, or is it only available through the website? My nephew texted me on Monday that they are expecting their 2nd baby! I think a baby blanket is in order. Their son is going to be 2 in May, so I want to make something for him first though. I have until August for the new baby. I'm so excited for them. I FINALLY finished my daughter's blanket this week. I'm pretty sure I messed up when I enlarged it, and it's really hard to tell that it's sharks, but that's ok. It was my first crochet project, and my daughter loves it.

I have always just been a plain, dark sock kind of girl, but your socks have me thinking that the next time I buy socks they need to be fun, colorful ones! 💚

Good thinking because you just never know when a fabulous new pattern might appear magically. OR you have planned for the next month!

So, how do y’all get excited about weaving in well over 200 yarn ends? My own fault for not doing it as I worked. Now that the blanket is done, it’s sat for a week as I try to gather the motivation to spend hours on the darned ends. And is there any super quick way to do it that I haven’t thought of? I just wanna get it done, then work on the fun stuff again - blocking, and the border (whine whine)! And yes, I’ve learned a valuable lesson
