Happy February one and all. I hope I’m not stepping on toes by cranking up the thread but as I mentioned it on the January one, I felt I needed to! There were lots of lovely projects last month so what are the plans for this month? Is anyone trying a new to them craft? Really looking forward to seeing all the photos and I will post something myself in a few days.

I am trying to catch up on my temperature blanket. I will try and post a progress photo later. And yes, I am going to try a new to me craft. My friend at church teaches at a pottery studio. So I am going to have a private class with her, and we are going to "throw some mud." I can't wait!

Good morning gillyp! I just finished up reading last months thread. joblackford the pink and purple yarn in your first blanket is awesome. sueg how exciting having a new little one to knit for. I want to tag grammadee so she can link the scrapbook board other crafts challenge over here for challenge participants to share their other crafts. I'm going forth with the 100 day project and my Happy Trees blanket. I might work a bit on the Christmas blanket but we will see. And I've got to paint my living room before my new furniture arrives on the 23rd. I also signed up for the scrapbook challenges this month too. Whew! I committed myself to lots of crafting.

@patter the pottery sounds like fun! I'd be all in to do that. I can't wait to see how your temperature blanket is coming along.

I have just cast on a sweater for me. It is a pale grey DK yarn, and the sweater has cables panels up the front, back and sleeves. This should keep me busy for a while!

I have never heard of it. But it sounds like it would be a fun show to watch. I'll have to search for it. It's the pottery equivalent of British Bake Off Exactly, there have been a few series of it now. The current presenter is the actress who plays Sister Michael in Derry Girls. It's a lovely gentle watch and there is quite a lot more to pottery than I realised. The main judge is very emotional about pottery, if he reacts it's similar to a Paul Hollywood handshake. Last night the technique was naked raku, a lot of hard work with little control over the finished look.

So I am going to have a private class with her, and we are going to "throw some mud." I can't wait! OMG!! I am so envious! We have a show over here, like the Great British Bake Off, called the Great Pottery Throw Down which follows the same premise as Bake Off. A selection of amateur potters go through a number of challenges each week to determine the best potter. It is a fabulous show. I did a little bit of pottery myself at art college many, many years ago. I was meant to be in the drawing class but it was full and I got put in the pottery class. It was such fun! Watching Throw Down is re-kindling my interest but I do not have the time nor space to take it up, I don't think. You will have a ball! I've just noticed gar has mentioned the Throw Down. Oops, so has wellway! Last nights was so exciting! I loved the finished pieces.

Pulled out a partially finished quilt top from a Gyleen Fitzgerald class several years ago and will work on that this month. I am also in need of a crib quilt as a gift so the Fast Track QAL is perfect timing. There is also a small needlepoint I need to finish as well. d

I love following these craft threads, I’m going to try and participate more! I have all the blocks made for a quilt for my Dad, and the fabric purchased for a Harry Potter baby quilt. After that I would like to sew a dress for my first grand daughter who is due in April.

Happy February crafters! I kinda lost my basket mojo last month - wasn't able to quarantine for the 14 days necessary to go weave with my mom and wasn't inspired to weave on my own. Also - my girls were home from college until mid month and I was trying to spend lots of time with them. So I had trouble keeping up with the January thread. I did visit from time to time to see your lovely projects! I don't have any definite plans for this month either, but I do still have this unfinished rim (from NOVEMBER!) calling my name:

My cousin has been on the current series of Pottery Throwdown! She went out last week (Suz from Aberdeenshire 😊). She is a very talented sculptor but hasn’t actually been potting for as long. And she doesn’t do that well with pressure so I was really surprised when she told me she was on it!

What fun lesley! Kudos to anyone having the bottle to enter competitions like this. The whole group seem really lovely. I’m a member of GPTD FB group, not because I have anything to contribute but I so enjoy seeing all the makes.

This is the January rows for my 2021 temperature blanket. I'm using Cascade 220 which is worsted, and I've now considered it won't be as long as I might like it - but oh well! I felt they had the best color selection and washability. Had I to do it again I might do two rows per day. I am also working on some Moss Stitch Fingerless Mitts for myself. I finished one and just started the cuff on the second.

I've knit (knitted?) the cuff and leg of a magic heel sock, hoping to get the heel section done today. I'm using this yarn from Hobbii, I can't remember who shared it but thank you
I've ordered some needles, I've been getting a bit frustrated with the cord on my Knit Pro Zings so I'm giving these a go Addi Flexiflips

Love that yarn lainey 😊 How are you today? I’m plodding on with my sock but man it grows slowly! I’ve done the rib so should be faster now and I’m getting used to the magic loop but I can see I’m going to be bored by the time I’ve done one!!

The rib is quite slow going and my least favourite part. I did ankle socks for my first pair just because I couldn't face a long leg! Is there something else you fancy knitting if you aren't enjoying socks?

Is there something else you fancy knitting if you aren't enjoying socks? Well, I want a throw for our bed so I might combine that with having a look at crochet. I've never done any so I might look at some YouTube tutorials and play around with doing a little bit with a couple of hooks I inherited and any old yarn and just see if I think I might like it. Glad you're better

Julie W I really like your temp blanket! I’m making a temp quilt But I’ve only done the first 19 days of Jan. Hope to catch up this week. I absolutely love your fingerless gloves and wondered if you could send me a link for the pattern? I saw a similar pair somewhere online and then when I went back to look I couldn’t find it. I’d really like to make pair. I haven’t knit in a long time but I think I could do that. Also, if you could suggest a type of wool. Where I live in Canada most stores are closed so it’ll need to be something easy to get a hold of. Thanks! Emelle

Go for it gar! I taught myself crochet about 3/4 years ago but I did it in a cockeyed way. I found something I wanted to make and then I learnt how to do it as I went along. There are loads of tutorials; you just need to find one that suits you.

There are loads of tutorials; you just need to find one that suits you. I think that may well be my method too 😉 I prefer the closer knit type look of crochet rather than the lace open style so I need to find the right tutorial as you say 😊
