Looking for a great Jewish Deli in Ft. Lauderdale. I am here for 2 weeks with my mom (she’s a snowbird—usually on the west coast). I know I can check Yelp but am hoping someone here has a good recommendation.

No recommendations, but with a foot plus of snow on the ground here, can I just say how much the combo of Ft. Lauderdale and Jewish deli enchants me. Please have a sesame bagel with a nice schmear for me.

There is nothing like a pickle from an authentic Jewish deli. Oh my goodness.

Oh I want a good bagel, poppy seeds and an inch of cream cheese with some good lox. I get excellent lox being on the west coast and I challenge Ft. Lauderdale to a delicious bagel.
I have never had a kosher pickle. I am missing out I see.

You need to go to the food court at Festival Flea Market. Their address is: 2900 W Sample Rd, Pompano Beach, FL 33073. You MUST MUST MUST go to the "Down Home Deli" and get the knishes. They are unbelievable and I really mean that. I have never seen so many varieties. They are huge too! Go as fast as you can!!!!!

I don't know any Jewish people so I'm naive. How do you know it's a Jewish establishment unless they have it listed as such?

Just like you would determine a Mexican, Indian, Thai or Italian place that doesn’t explicitly include it in the name: name, menu*, word of mouth. *pastrami, rye bread, matzo ball soup, bagels/cream cheese/lox, etc. Can depend on location; when I was in Montreal, Jewish delis all had “smoked meat sandwiches,” which are different than pastrami.

When talking about a Jewish deli one means the style of food that is served, not who owns or runs the establishment. In theory, a Jewish deli can be run by an Asian or Black or Brown or East Indian person.

Oh, and babka for dessert! Things that people who aren’t familiar with them might gloss over on the menu.

In theory, a Jewish deli can be run by an Asian or Black or Brown or East Indian person. We have a Jewish-deli-style restaurant in Berkeley that was founded by a couple of Irish guys from New York. They used to bring you the things to mix your own egg cream at the table, but I think they quit doing that.

I would search kosher deli or kosher style deli versus Jewish deli. They aren’t really called Jewish delis.
When we were in Florida we had THE BEST kosher meals but we didn’t seek out deli as we can get that here. We went to meet how restaurants. I killed my husband by ordering salmon.
There are some in Florida but I never found them to be as good as NY or LA.
