I placed an Instacart order for my local Walmart this morning. Mainly fruits and vegetables and some pet supplies. The shopper sent me a photo of the vegetable area that was totally empty! He said there were a few items, but the quality wasn't good so he was hesitant to get anything. I agreed with him but my list was predominantly fruit and vegetables. He told me that that location is closing down! I had no idea.
Now I am going to have to drive up to Foothill Ranch to the older store, unless they are closing that one down too. I am disappointed because the store that is closing was nice and big and really clean. The other location isn't exactly filthy, but it isn't as nice as the location that is closing down and it is always crowded. Maybe they are closing the better store because it was located rather close to the Costco? I actually liked that because I could do my Costco shopping and then run into Walmart for the few items that I need in smaller amounts, plus a few things that Costco doesn't carry.
I put in a Costco order yesterday but avoided getting any fruits and vegetables because the quantity is too big for a single person unless I am going to dehydrate them. Now I am going to have to run out to the grocery store tomorrow because I can't go without fruit or vegetables for very long. I did get a package of salad mix at Costco yesterday so that will hold me for a bit. It is just that an item on my to do list today was to make a big pot of vegetable soup. Kinda hard without any vegetables, right? Not the end of the world, just disappointing.
I haven't been out of the house much since last March to notice what is going on with the local stores. I slipped into Daiso to get a couple of things and it was busier than usual. I also noticed there was a long line in front of Home Goods to get in the door and a few people in line for the Pier One next door. This was in the evening around dinnertime, so I was surprised there was a line at all. The shopping centers around here usually empty out at that time of day. I was happy to see the lines because that means the stores will still be there when this is over.
Are there many stores or restaurants that are closing down in your area?
