I have a laminator. I have my designs printed on cardstock with toner from Fedex Office. I have several different kinds of foil.
AND NOTHING IS WORKING!
The foil is not adhering to the images (words) that I have printed.
Any advice?

What kinds of foil are you using? Heidi Swapp foil uses a laminator. Deco foil uses adhesive.

You might want to go to Nancy Stamps Youtube channel. She has a lot of videos on foiling.

It has to be heat activated foil.

I’ll double check the brand, I know one was Gina K, the other Decofoil...I forget the 3rd I tried.

When they made the copies did they use black ink? Or did they use colors to make black? Is the cardstock smooth?

I'm foil challenged too. :/
But my problem is I get small areas that don't foil. Like the parchment crinkles when going through my laminator. I don't own a Minc or a the Royal Sovereign that everyone seems to use, just a plain old Scotch brand.
After watching a lot of foiling videos here is my take a way. 1. Make sure your laminator is really hot. Use the hottest setting and turn it on 30 minutes before foiling. And 2. you may need to shim it. That's all I've got.

It could be the quality of their toner too. When I first tried it, I had one of those off brand cartridges that are refilled but when I switched to HP it worked fine.

*make sure it’s toner * make sure your laminator is on hot *make sure your using the foil in the right direction - the proper side to the toner. I can’t tell you how often I make this mistake, even 1/2 an hour after doing it and all iG myself stupid I do it backwards again

I can’t tell you how often I make this mistake, even 1/2 an hour after doing it and all iG myself stupid I do it backwards again All of this. Must be a printer that uses toner and not ink, it wont work if its ink from an inkjet. I have a minc now and love it, I do have a laminator that I used briefly but I would have to have it on for forever for it to work. My husband uses a laminator at his work for foiling menus and product labels and it works just as well as the minc, apparently not all laminators are the same. Make sure your paper is smooth, the foil does no like the ridges on textured cardstock. Make sure its heat activated foil, I can not tell you the sheer frustration and multiple attempts I had at trying to get this one piece of foil to work, turns out it was for the foil quill and not minc....very frustrating.
