28-4-28 #7 – My challenges for 28-4-28 will all be centered around you. We all have the stories we’ve heard over the years about our parents and grandparents. I’m inviting you to play along and document your stories. I’ll give you a couple of prompts each week. Each challenge met will be worth 10 points. First up is your name. Is there a story, a special meaning, were you named for a relative or friend? Next is a bit about your parents. Names, where were they born, did/do they have siblings? Here are mine - I decided to do mine in an 8 x 8 format. IMG_5298 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr IMG_0012 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr

Hmmm... I did a bit of this a couple of months ago. Not sure what I can come up with that is different, I included pic's and a description of my parents. But I don't think I included my two grandmothers, each of whom gave me a part of my given name. Will have to see if I can find photos to scan. I can't believe you have your BABY pictures, gramma!!! Off to look at your pages more closely on Flickr.

Okay, I have an idea for a name story. Not my name, but one of my DDs. I'll have to do some journaling in the morning (which I very much dislike doing ) and then I can put everything together during the Sunday crop.

I have lots of stories about my name. But finding a picture to go with that will be challenging!
Having a "complicated" name also led my kids to their own names... I kept them simple, able to find them on plaques in stores, and with 4 letter nick-names.

Good morning all. After some thinking I think I made the subject of this challenge too narrow. Some of you may not have baby pics for example or a certain subject may just not be doable for you. I pulled the prompts from a site on the internet - it's broken down into several categories. So - here is the entire first category. Choose anything in the category and complete two. journal_jar_adult_about_1.pdf (136.37 KB)

gramma thank you for the adventure! I went through some boxes and albums of old photos to find something for this challenge. Along the way I came across some copies of very old family portrait photos that I knew would be off interest to the ancestry.com community, so I took time to scan and upload those. I'm in a facebook group for the neighborhood I grew up in, so when I came across photos of the old neighborhood I had to scan and share those to facebook. I had a sweet time looking through old memories. So then I was going to print this and use it as my background, and I thought to just keep it digital.

What an amazing adventure you have been on, jjpeapea! Love the smaller pic of you and your sib's on top of the larger neighbourhood photo. And your title sets it up nicely.

I hope you are happy, gramma! I sat down to type out some childhood memories of fall on the farm, and ended up with two pages of type. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet. Have no photos. And the papers I had selected won't really work with this story. But it's a start...

No photos of mine on these two pages. I grabbed a couple from the internet to try to represent fall on the farm. I photographed the two facing pages separately in the hope anyone who is interested can read my long winded story.
Points: two pages created & shared (4). Taking Easy Peasy points on these two pages (40). Total: 44

jjpeapea, I love your page and love that large photo. Your neighborhood looks exactly like the view across the street from our home in the 50's. What fun to be in a "neighborhood" group. Great job. I love your journaling. It brings back lots of memories. gramma and grammadee, there is love in the gallery. What beautiful and wonderful stories. Mine are 2 stories related to picking potatoes as a child. Spud PickingNew Coat

Nylene! Your pages are such treasures. Your family is going to be so glad to have these. I really enjoyed reading them, and they'll love them even more. I hope you keep writing them down for them.

Better late than never. I've been wanting to write down this story, and a bunch more too. Thanks, gramma, for giving me the push.

Thanks for the wonderful prompts gramma . I knew vaguely about how my name was chosen, but I learned some extra tidbits when I spoke to mum and then dad about it.

I didn't have enough room to tell all that I could have, and I see that is a problem to work on. Sometimes the journaling should take center stage. Anyway, here's my page for the prompt. Leslie by Joyfulnana, on Flickr
