The other thread got me thinking about things I regret purging. There's a bunch of things I wish I had sold instead of just giving away, but as far as regretting that I didn't keep it, here's a few highlights: - My Basic Grey magnetic cutting mat
- My Making Memories Slice glass cutting mat (not the machine, just the mat, it would have been great for general crafting use!)
- Lots of patterned paper I purged, especially the Dear Lizzy Enchanted collection and lots of Making Memories
- Tons of 12x12 colored cardstock (I went through a phase where I used a bunch, so I bought a bunch...then I didn't use it, so I got rid of it and now I use it again!)
- A bunch of A2 envelopes from blank card sets I bought. They were super flimsy and I prefer thicker envelopes...but then I donated lots of cards last year and needed envelopes for them and I was kicking myself for getting rid of them because most people aren't as picky about envelopes as I am!
Mostly I'm glad that I haven't hoarded all the crafty things over the years, so I'm not knocking the purging process, just wishing that I had kept a few select things! What about you?

I had the opportunity to buy stickers on the roll for 25 cents each when an LSS was closing. I bought all kinds of stickers that I paired with paper and sold them at scrapbook yard sales to get money to buy other people's stuff. I wish I had a whole lot of that paper and those stickers, especially the big Disney ones and Sesame Street. Some of the stickers I bought for 25 cents had cost 2 or 3 dollars each back then.
I also set my cousin up with everything she needed to scrapbook, and now she doesn't. I wish I had access to all the paper and stuff I gave her. It would be old stash now, but I would love to go through it and 'shop.' Maybe next time I see her I will ask but she doesn't live ner me.
That is what pops into my mind right now.

My criteria for purging tends to be along the lines of “What was I thinking? This is ugly, and there is absolutely no chance that I will ever use it!” Or if it’s a duplicate tool or stamp (rare, but it has happened).
The only time I ever almost regretted purging were some ugly Halloween papers that had come in a paper pad. The friends who took them off my hands were new to paper crafting. They used those ugly papers for splashes of color, as lower layers on a card. Most of the ugly patterns were hidden, but the splash of color was very effective. Their cards were adorable, even if the papers of the underneath layers were a hideous pattern.
One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.

There are a few old Stampin'Up stamp sets that I wish I hadn't sold or given away. Every once in a while I want to use them, but then I remember that I don't have them anymore. It's OK, though, because I have lots of other stamps to choose from. I just hope they are making someone else happy now.

Not yet that I can think of. I don’t tend to purge like that. I almost gave away my red original lever sizzix but I just couldn’t. Which is a good thing because my DD uses it.
I have a box of stuff I might purge but I’m waiting for an opportunity ( LSS garage sale after the pandemic ) but I already took something back from there because I needed it. I might still purge it ge side it’s a crappy stamp but while it was still here I se used to use it. Since I didn’t care that much I just glued it to a block for now.

I regret getting rid of my "Baby Bug" or small Cricut. DH bought it for me and I had it decorated really cute with vinyl cut outs and my name, etc..I decided I HAD to have the big cutter but I really couldn't afford it, so I sold the little one to help purchase the big one. As my crafting has evolved over the years, I can see that I didn't really need the huge cutter (as the Joy is calling my name, but no freaking way, too expensive) and the Baby would have done me just fine. I know I could re buy it, but I don't really want someone else's, I just want mine back.
More that that though-I want all my books (hundreds) that Marie "No Joy-Just Tears" Kondo convinced me I had to get rid of. It's like I just dumped 100's of friends off at the GoodWill and can't remember who they were. I think I grossly underestimated how much my books meant to me and how much they were connected to certain parts of my life.

My mom bought me a sizzix side kick many years ago amd I used it zero times. I sold it. Now sometimes I find myself wishing I had it to do some die cutting. But I probably would never get it out.

I regret purging my Quickutz handle and my Sizzix sidekick.
When I moved up from the red Sizzix machine, I was SO excited to have one die cutting machine that would do it all.
But those little tools made it so quick and easy.

I had a little blue guillotine trimmer, made by CM I think, that I gave to a friend. I had used it a lot but I wasn't using it much at that point, so when I noticed her cutting photos by hand I sent it to her. I don't regret sharing with my friend, not really. But of all the crafty things I have given away over the years it's the one thing that I sometimes think would've been handy to still have around. (especially when I got back into cardmaking and my Fiskars replacement wouldn't cut square).

I am still purging supplies that I've had since I started scrapbooking in 1997, so am trying to be honest with myself about what I will really use. The only regret I have so far is purging some CM albums and page protectors, since I find the 12x12 ring bound albums to be too large to handle, and I want to finish a couple of 12x12 projects (Disney, vacation, etc) but put them in strap hinge or post bound albums. I am moving to 6x8 and 9x12 albums for new and everyday projects, so will be purging 12x12 ring bound and pp soon ( I hope I don't regret that ) steakgoddess, I have my QK handle on my purge pile, but now am having second thoughts....Why do you miss yours??

My only regret is selling my Cuttlebug. I got the Big Shot off Craigslist for cheap and decided that I didn't need to have both. Now I barely use the Big Shot because it's so damn heavy and that's why my poor dies are languishing in my scrap corner.

Not much. The only thing that comes to mind is some fugly paper that I should have saved to used the back which was white. I reach for that a lot. Otherwise I feel better about not having too much stuff that isn’t being used regularly.

But I probably would never get it out. i started reading the comments and thought, "no, i don't regret getting rid of a thing". and then i saw your post and was reminded that the side kick is my one regret. i sold it years ago. with the advent of thinlit dies, i wound up buying another one a few weeks ago just so i don't have to drag out the bigger die cutter just to cut small thinlits.

After a few years, the spring in my handle wore out. I upgraded to the original Revolution (ETA: made by QuicKutz, not WeR). That's been a great machine for me.

I sold all my 12x12 Bazzill in 2012 before a move - when I knew I was losing my scrapping space and had switched to 8x8 scrapping. I don’t regret most of it, but I could kick myself for selling all the Doodlebug coordinating colors.
I flip flop back and forth about my Quickutz alphas and Revolution. At the time I had a Cricut with Sure Cuts A Lot so I could cut any font I wanted, but after Cricut sued SCAL2 only runs on older Macs, and my old Expression is on an old firmware that can’t run the new libcutter workaround, and the Expression isn’t supported, So I’m back to the handful of cartridges, and I hated dealing with the cartridges. I do much better seeing sizing on the 12x12 virtual mat rather than guessing with a dial.
I was flipping through DD’s toddler years and admiring all the Quickutz fonts over the weekend.

I know I could re buy it, but I don't really want someone else's, I just want mine back. I have a Cricut Maker and the Joy. I've had the Maker for several years after I upgraded from the Explore Air but I find that I don't use it at all now I have the small machine. I bought the Joy mostly because of FOMO but it sits happily on my desk 100% of the time and when I need a die cut I don't have, I just knock one out. I used to do a lot of vinyl and HTV work but I got over that and now just make cards so the Joy is perfect for it. If you do find one on sale or second hand and decide to pull the trigger, I think you may find it a really useful addition to your crafting. You don't need the Access subscription as you can upload most everything you want directly to Design Space. I worry that if I sell my Maker, I will regret it and although I'm sure a newer one will come out eventually, it's still their flagship model at the moment. I won't bother upgrading as all its new bells and whistles were a disappointment compared to what the Explore models could do.

I made the mistake of getting rid of my CM little blue trimmer. Don’t know what I was thinking. Happily, that’s my only regret, but that may be because I have kept too much!

My original Perfect Layers cutting set. I bought it in 2003-2004 from QVC. Never used it and finally gave it away. Then I started scrapping with a friend who had it loved it. I ended up re-buying it. Now it's one of my most used tools.
ETA - I just pulled out my QuickKutz and I'm still glad it's in my purge pile :-)

I usually don’t regret the purged items but I do regret purging my fiber. I had a ton of it and now i can think of some uses for it. Of course it’s not popular so you can’t by it in sets now.

The only thing I regret giving away was my Heidi Swapp Memorydex hole punch. I tried the Memorydex thing in 2015 when it all came out, but I was more focused on 12x12 layouts. I gave it up, and now the whole thing has become the sleeper trend of the crafting world. And it's a super specific tool, so it's not like I can use something else instead. I'm not going to repurchase it new, but if I see it secondhand somewhere someday, I will grab it.

A few months ago, I saw a YouTuber use a hole punch and then cut two small slits to the holes to make it work. I looked really good and worked. I bought the actual punch last year.
