Hey all,
I'm finally upgrading my 10 year old Mac and I want to make sure I will still be able to use my original Silhouette Portrait. I know there were some problems with Windows & the Silhouette software but I haven't heard of any with the Mac OS.
Has anyone had any issue or heard of any issues? Thanks!

I am waiting a bit longer to update my 7 year old MacBook Pro because I read that there were some bugs still being worked out, including but not limited to wifi and bluetooth issues (not sure if that applies to your Silhouette). It usually takes a while for peripheral manufacturers to update firmware/drivers, so that might be a consideration for you. I haven't read anything specific about the Silhouette having issues, but I had a client with an older printer that is still waiting for HP to update her firmware to work with Big Sur (but her printer is really old, so she may just need to get a new one). Thanks! I read that same article.  I was texting with my old boss to see what kind of support issues he's had with the new M1 Mac Airs and MBP's and he said so far not anything too earth shattering except for the bluetooth/wifi issues you noted. I used to to tech support/network administration so I'm unfortunately very well aware of how far behind peripheral are when a new OS comes out. It's so frustrating from a support and user standpoint! My Silhouette is directly connected via USB so the bluetooth and wifi issues probably won't affect me. I'm planning on keeping my old MBP for my daughter to use so if my new laptop has issues with my silhouette I'll have a backup. I posted on a facebook group the same question. I'll post here if anyone has any problems and how they have rectified it or if they're waiting for a solution. |

I updated my MacBook Pro this summer. I just used my old one for my Silhouette (2011 machine). I finally started using my new computer on my Silhouette this week. My machine would say it wasn't hooked up, but when I pressed Troubleshoot, it took me to a website and then it just started working. It just took a minute or two of press all of the buttons to get it to work.
