In this thread, many scrappers cited enamel dots as a currently collected & used embellishment. Since I have yet to purchase any dots, please share your favorite brands, colors, sizes, shapes, & ways to use them. (Our son is my primary scrap subject, so I'm especially interested in pre-/teen boy pages.) Photos &/or links are encouraged. TFS

I waited for a good sale and stocked up store.scrapbook.com/mme-ms1017.html?w=enamel+dotsI used the blue, yellow, and gold from ^ that set on this boy page.

The ones I tend to reach for the most are the ones from My Mind's Eye. They have tons of color coordinating enamel dots.

I use them in place of brads. So whereever I would have afixed a few brads on a page as an embellie, I put enamel dots.

Great layouts Loco Coco!
So far, I have primarily collected them...but do like to use them to bring in a pop of color on a layout. Generally an accent color that I might tie in with my title or another small embellishment.

OP- I sometimes make my own dots. My fav brand is My Minds Eye though...so many colors!

I am a huge fan of enamel dots/shapes. I use them all time, in fact I use them on almost all of my layouts. I find most brands are similar, although My Mind's Eye probably have the best ones overall. I love the gold trend, so I have bought (and almost used up) a couple of packs of Studio Calico DIY enamel dots in gold. They are a really lovely sort of liquid gold glittery dot. They work on boy or girl pages though (IMO) as they are neutral in colour. You also see quite a few enamel stars, hearts and arrows these days and I like those shapes, pretty easy to use. Basically, I use them in a couple of ways...First, they are great for clusters when you need tiny embellishments to round out the cluster or circular elements (if using dots). They are slightly raised but not too thick so they work on most pages. Second, I use them in my scatter effect pages. Sometimes, I like to lead the eye around the page with small scatterings of things....mist splatters, sequins, little wood veneers, brads and enamel shapes. They help provide interest and slight dimension to the scatters. I especially like to use them with splatters as they create a 3D splatter effect. I love enamel dots. They are small but being round they add a nice contrast to layouts which usually have a lot of straight edges and lines. Try some, you will be hooked too! Oh I forgot to mention there are also wood dots now (LOVE!) and cork circles too. Good for boy pages. The wood ones have been made by MME and Teresa Collins has a mixed set of wood and cork circles. This page shows enamel dots mixed in with grey mist, sequins and brads: This page features some lovely MME enamel dots from MME Market Street that came with coloured and GOLD ones in the same packet! I clustered the gold ones in groups of three, but I also used the pink ones on my banner almost like a push pin effect and there is a tiny blue on in my bottom cluster next to the mason jar and the heart.

I am an enamel dot ho. I like the mix of colors from MME, but I love the Doodlebug Sprinkles which are sold by single color. Their gold ones are my favorites. They are very subtle and don't scream gold.

I usually wait for them to pop up on the peachycheap website. They will often have a 5-pack variety from recent collections for $7.99 plus $3.99 shipping, which works out to about $2.40 a pack as opposed to $4-5 regular price. The MME ones are probably my favorite.

I like to use them in 3's. Where I just need a little "something", I'll use a large, a medium, and a small enamel dot in a triangle, but not evenly spaced.
I love the Doodlebug ones the best, but I don't have any I think are bad.

Thank you for your replies, tips, & inspiration for incorporating enamel dots onto my pages. Are enamel dots archival & can be applied directly onto photos? Per your recommendations, I checked out MME & Doodlebug Sprinkles. So many choices; now to decide on sizes & colors! Please feel free to add more thoughts, tips, & pages! TIA.
loco coco - Thanks for sharing your pages, which clearly demonstrate the versatility of enamel dots. The arrangement of black enamel dots in a circular pattern looks sophisticated on the "2nd Anniversary" page, while the sprinkling of enamel dots adds to the playfulness of your "Our Super Hero" layout featuring an adorable little guy!
impearia - Thank you for sharing your creative pages about your beautiful children. Your use of enamel dots reinforces the whimsical mood of the "Learning to Fly" layout, while they serve a more functional role on the grid-design "We Heart Spring" page. Note the MME wood dots you recommended are first on my wish list!

Imperia, your pages are beautiful!
I have a few types of enamel dots. The wooden ones are a nice touch on more masculine pages. Enamel dots also work nicely for the center of flowers.

I love any and all enamel dots. The MME tend to be a little flatter, which I like, but I will use any that are the right color or look I want. I also love some of the small enamel shapes too. A little heart or star mixed in are cute. I just bought some red hearts from CTMH, can't wait to use those. And they come 72 to a pack so I can use a lot I also like the SU brad fillers. They come in lots of colors (but just one size). You can use them plain or inside one of their special brads. They have a soft matte finish. I scrap mostly boy pages and use dots a lot.

Another fan of the MME dots but I tend to just buy ones with the colors I need no matter what the brand is. I've also learned that brads make great dots. I've got a ton of those so I can use up my stash as well.

Thanks again for your input. I picked up a couple packs of Teresa Collins Essentials (acid & lignin free) enamel dots on clearance at Joann today & hope to use your tips to incorporate them into my layouts!
