Congrats to Naomi! I think her win mind of got lost in the unusual hoopla of the Australian Open. First there was the rules of you wanted to participate, then the boo hooing about rules they agreed to. Then there just doesn't seem to be much build up to the actual event when people aren't there in person, and finally all the speculation about Serena.
I hope as the pandemic gets used control, we will see all sports getting back to normal as I look forward to seeing all athletes, and especially newcomers, perform well in their sport.

Oh I opened this thread thinking Stevie Wonder died. I am so relieved to hear otherwise. My heart needs to go back to a regular rhythm now. Phew!
And also, I continue to be so impressed by Naomi and the skill and grace she exhibits both on and off the court.

Frankie Beverly performed at the inaguration and the advertising looked like an obit 😳

I’ve known that Naomi Osaka is major since the 2018 US Open where she outplayed Serena and kept her cool and won, despite Serena’s issues with the chair umpire. Serena is usually impeccably well-behaved, but she’s had her moments over the years. Serena, in my mind, is the GOAT, so it’s hard to watch her in the twilight of her career. She and Venus single-handedly transformed women's tennis.
And my heart skipped a beat too, when I saw Stevie Wonder as the title.

I too wondered if he had passed. Very glad to know that is not the case. He authored the soundtrack of my middle and high school years. Love his music, and just now turned on my 3 hour playlist of his music Perfect Saturday morning music. I found a very short YouTube video between Stevie and Oprah where he briefly touches on why he’s leaving. That article is interesting, thanks for posting it. Don’t know a single thing about tennis so I’ll leave commenting on that to others.

Good word, I was opening this expecting word of his death. Thank goodness it was not!
Can't blame him. I hope he finds what he is looking for in Ghana.
As for tennis, I had heard a clip that Serena had lost. It's unfortunate everything focused on her loss instead of the winner. Otherwise, I don't follow any sports. Even the Olympics has become tedious.

Stevie Wonder's talent is a gift. I'm so glad to hear that he's doing fine and just moving.

I am so happy I saw Stevie Wonder in his Songs in the Key of Life tour. That was bucket list, truly special. I also saw him at Live 8 in Philadelphia. The way MTV started their coverage and interrupted the acts, I put my girls in the car and drove down there. Paid who knows what to park at 30 th Street Station and walked towards the crowd. Told them I wasn’t leaving until Stevie sang. And didn’t. I hope he is happy in Ghana.

Also Naomi won! No tennis fans I see. Nah tennis bores me silly! I was hoping that local girl Ash Barty would win, and when she was knocked out I was hoping Serena would win. I know people like to see up and coming players win, and get bored when the same players win every year. But Serena is so inspirational, I love seeing her win. I am happy that Naomi won, she would be my next choice after Ash and Serena.

You realize Osaka Naomi san plays for Japan and she is as Japanese as my son is. We are curling fans and are watching the Scotty’s Tournament but she will always be Japanese to us.

Oh gosh, I had a moment there. I thought something had happened to him, He's one of my favourite singers.
Sir Tom Jones is a judge on The Voice UK and celebrated his 80th birthday a little while ago and they surprised him with a personal video message from Stevie Wonder.( they're good friends) Sir Tom got quite emotional as he was watching it.
