I have to call them every 5-6 months to "threaten" to cancel, etc. The last few times they cut to the chase and I was on the phone for less than ten minutes.
Just now--actually 6:56 pm I called and got a recording they are really busy and I can do this via text. Fine. So I guess they are texting 50 other people at the same time, I had questions that they wouldn't answer. I guess the answers weren't in the script. Anyway after wasting 40 minutes of my life... I got it for 6.86 per month per car for 12 months. That's up from 6.41, I guess due to royalty fees, etc.
Next time I will do it over the phone. I actually wanted them to charge me for 12 months at a time (because my cc points are worth more this month) but I guess that's not in the script either.
ETA--It's 4.99 + fees + taxes per car = 6.86 each.

i always have to call and threaten to cancel. this year, i didnt even have to play that game. I assumed bc so many aren't in their cars, they were getting a lot of cancellations, bc they didn't even make me threaten to cancel! they just rolled the rate over, for 12 months.

What is "XM"? Thank you in advance! Sirius XM is a satellite radio company, most new cars have a free trial, or you can by a radio or listen online too. =)

Every year I call and save $200+! It’s totally worth my time. Last year I spent 2 hours on the phone getting passed from person to person before they gave me the price I wanted. This year it took 4 minutes.

Last time I called them, I told them my friend got a year for $xx and if they couldn’t match it, I was canceling. They quoted me a higher price. I told them I wasn’t paying it and they could cancel my subscription. They instantly gave me the price I first requested.

My subscription runs out next month. What’s the best rate I can ask for for one car? Six something a month?

I paid right at $6/mo this last time. Paid it all at one time for a year. I love not having to call every 5-6 mo. I put a reminder for the day before on my phone.

The last lady I talked to told me I had to call every six months to get a new deal. She said to mark the date on my calendar so I wouldn't forget by even one day. The last time I got my reminder in the mail a few days after my contract was up and ended up paying a lot more per day.

Thanks for this info!
I just got my notice that it's going to renew at the monthly jillion dollars in a few weeks, so was ready to call with my (phoney) threat to cancel. Glad to hear we're not playing this game anymore.

I do it via their chat function. I set a calendar reminder the week before it is due.

I finally cancelled my subscription last week. I have worked from home since last March. I drive about 5 miles a week maybe. It makes no sense for me to have it since I'm not using it. Yes I know I can listen on a tablet/phone etc., but I generally don't. It took me about 15 minutes to get through the phone call!

I bought a new car a few months ago. My free trial expired, I had no intention of continuing. I go to the office 2 days a week and work from home the rest. I barely drive anywhere and it's usually a 10 minute ride or less. There is no reason for me to pay for radio stations during a pandemic especially when my favorites are free broadcast music stations. They will not leave me alone trying to get me to sign up with them! It's constant emails and letters in the mail! I would never join, it seems like it would be a hassle to cancel.

Yes, I pay 4.99/mo plus fees and have it in my car and of course on my laptop as well. It's amazing how they try to charge people much more until they threaten to cancel. I've noticed verizon wireless does the same thing.

We have had Sirius for several years now. I have learned to just call and say if you can match the rate I had last time I will renew, otherwise please cancel my service. I don't want to hear all the other options. We have 2 cars, plus I call and rewnew my mother in laws car for her and I don't want the run around. The last few years I have paid $60 for 12 months per car. I put a note on my calendar so I know when its renewing and I just call a couple of days before it renews.

The funny thing is we renewed while driving while the kids were in the car and thought it would be a great lesson to show how you negotiate with them. Well that turned out to be a dud of a lesson.

This is what I will pay, charge me for 12 months. I renewed on a Thursday, my car was totaled the next day! I had to call and put subscription on hold. I now get to call back and give them my new car info

I hate Sirius XM with a burning passion. It took 45 minutes during a workday getting the runaround and “oh just one more thing”. I try to be polite because I know call center people get a lot of crap, but I finally blew my stack and said “if you can’t cancel this NOW, then get me a supervisor because I am tired of this shit and you are wasting my time.” I know it was harsh but I’d be put on hold then they’d give me a song and dance about reducing price for x months and I would decline and then it would repeat. I think that happened four times.
I don’t care if they would give me free lifetime access. I will never do business with them again.

I renewed at my old rate of $4.99/mo plus fees and taxes today with the online chat. Yay! Now I don't have to give up my Coffeehouse station...which is basically the only one I listen to.

Just did the same; $5/mo via chat. No pushback or anything. I just said I wasn't going to continue at $22/month, but I would stay if they'd roll over the previous deal of $5/mo (+ fees&taxes), in one payment today. CS said "hold on and I'll check" then came right back and said no problem.
Be sure there's a credit for any prorated days if you're calling a few days early.

Last time I called I got $110 for 12 months.
I guess that wasn't a great deal!
I just got a letter stating that my year is up in May and it will go to $26.95/month.
NOPE. I will be calling soon!

I renewed last April and did it over chat on their site. Much easier. I just tell them I want to continue with the deal I have or cancel. They say okay, here's the cost for the next year and we're done.

I was disappointed that I couldn’t take advantage of the deal they tried (really hard) to offer me when I legitimately called to cancel. I hated to cancel but we moved to an area where the reception is just not good when we’re in the car. Too many trees, I guess. So, I started to use Apple Music or listen to podcasts or audiobooks and that’s working for me, but I do kind of miss it.
