For you to decide to stay home from work? Especially if the fever came suddenly but you have no other symptoms (no sore throat, no runny nose, no pinkeye eyes, etc.)

I am not allowed to stay home from work. Throwing up in the bathroom? I still have to be there. Pneumonia? Yup same deal. (I was in the hospital emergency ward...still had to work the next day.

If I felt okay, I probably wouldn't have checked my temperature.
I stay home if I really don't feel well. It wouldn't matter what my temp was.

For me, if it's 101 or above, I stay home. But I've never had a fever that high where I didn't also feel pretty bad.

Any fever. People shouldn't be working with a fever. It's counter productive.

You can't stay home when you're sick...I don't for one minute believe you dani-Mani When I have a fever of over 100....even without other symptoms, I stay home. I just know for me I'd feel like crap and not be able to do my best teaching.

When I worked in an office, over 100. In my experience, it is only going to get worse if it's that high and I try to push it. Plus I don't want to spread the germs.
Now that I'm home-based, I don't have a number in mind. I'd have to feel pretty awful to call in sick now.

Especially if the fever came suddenly but you have no other symptoms (no sore throat, no runny nose, no pinkeye eyes, etc.) I had to think about last time I had a fever...and I'm pretty sure I had pink eye. I get very few fevers. But for my kids I count anything over 100 and then I keep them home, usually that's a good sign something is up.

I take advil and ignore it. If I think I am safe to drive I go.
I suppose 102 or 103 would be my threshold for staying home and at that point advil probably does not bring it down and I would feel terrible anyway. I know i have gone at 101 with advil.
No other symptoms is a little weird.

That means never. Fever and feeling like death mean I don't get to leave. It's up to you. If you think you might infect patients, coughing (not a fever) might be enough to keep you at home.
If you are feeling sick, I hope you feel better soon.

Christine58, I don't give a flying fuck what you believe or don't believe. I threw up at work and got sent home by the manager. The president of the company gave us both shit for me going home.
Go fuck yourself!

I've never had a high fever without feeling crappy, but I guess for me the cutoff would probably be over 101. With a temp like that I'd be concerned that I was brewing something that could be contagious.

For you to decide to stay home from work? Especially if the fever came suddenly but you have no other symptoms (no sore throat, no runny nose, no pinkeye eyes, etc.) I'd be worried (a little worried, not super worried) about 100, primarily because my usual temperature is around 97-something. But if I didn't have any other symptoms, I'd probably take some advil and check it again in an hour. And if it was down, I'd go in to work.

I never take my temperature. If I feel sick I stay home. If I have no symptoms I go to work. This is what I was going to say. I have to feel pretty crummy to stay at home. For me, there isn't a magic number. I would base it off of symptoms and not temperature. I guess I didn't exactly answer your question though.

If I have a fever I stay home. I try to be considerate and I'm not going to be responsible for getting the rest of the office sick.
But as others have said, I would only check my temp if I felt bad so if I was already feeling bad I would stay home.

Go fuck yourself! then maybe it's time to look for another job I digress...back to the OP. Chances are I wouldn't think about checking my temperature unless I felt like crap and felt like I had a fever. As far as I know I've never had a fever without any other symptoms.

Anything over normal. My temp runs low, so if I'm over, it generally means I'm sick. I have lots of little souls in my care, so I don't stint on taking off when I'm ill.
ETA- I probably couldn't function if my temp were 100, so I go more by how I feel.

Go fuck yourself! I'm not sure what this reply is about...but why would you want to work at a place like that? For the OP -for me, over 100 or so. If I felt fine otherwise, I might take an ibuprofen and go in.

I think 100-101 is the number our nurse at school uses to call parents to let them know about a sick kid. I get strep once a year. No fever with that usually if I get an antibiotic. I'm a teacher and have to be really sick because it is more work to be gone. I think you should go by what your body is telling you. We all have different pain tolerances.

If I don't feel well I stay home. DOesn't matter what my temp is. I assume running a fever is enough to make you feel bad so stay home. Sometimes I'm overtly sick without running a fever. And in the middle of my perimenopause an elevated temperature could very well be just a hot flash.

Go fuck yourself! Classy....and rather at variance with the usual image you try to project. I would say say at home if my temperature was over 37.5c and I felt ill. Mind you, I wouldn't take my temperature if I didn't feel ill.

BTW I love my job, my coworkers are the nicest humans alive, the locations is perfect, parking is free, it's in a great location, not far from home, I am just not allowed to get sick. When I had pneumonia I was told "I need someone reliable"...yeah. But other than her everything about the job is great.
Did I mention I love my job?

Without other symptoms, I would wonder what's going on. If you feel well enough to work, take some Advil and go ahead.
I just had a virus with a fever that lasted about 5 days. The doctor said I was most contagious while I had the fever (no, it wasn't Ebola), so there's always that to consider.
