I grew up in a Midwestern suburb. The only smells that come to mind are freshly cut grass in the summer and fireplace smoke in the winter.
My current hometown is magnolia blossoms, rain, car exhaust, and mold. Oh and somebody smoking meat nearby.

Captain crunch cereal. We have a big Quaker Oats plant not far from me. Also a big General Mills plant. You can always tell when captain crunch is being made.

The town I grew up: Money. But not a lot of money, just enough to be comfortable, living in the 'burbs money. Until you burn through most of the candle, then, lots of new money and obscene McMansions. Also, hymnals and Sunday best. And the slightest note of sauerkraut.
The town I live in: Poop. All kinds of animal poop, dirt, and a general wariness of "outsiders".

I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. My candle would be called Sweet Wavin’ Wheat and it would smell like wheat waving in the breeze after a springtime rainstorm.
Of course I got the idea from Oscar Hammerstein who wrote:
Oklahoma! Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain; And the wavin’ wheat, can sure smell sweet, When the wind comes right behind the rain.

I grew up in Kansa City, and there were certain parts of town that if the wind was blowing just the right direction, you’d get a good whiff of the stockyards.

Some of your hometowns sound (smell) fabulous.
I grew up on the lake, so that wonderful smell of sunshine on the sand and water. And backyard grills. And running shoes. And dogs (I don’t think I knew anyone growing up that didn’t have a dog).

We have a tomato factory in town and every year during the last week of summer we can smell it in the air. When you smell the tomatoes you know it means back to school.

Depends on what was being processed at the canning factory down the street. Could be cherry pie filling or green beans or sauerkraut.

No one wants a candle from my town. Chicken poop (egg farm) and cow poop (farms in general).
Thank god the mushroom farm is closed. It would smell so bad we would actually gag when we went outside.

I grew up rural so no town and would have to be whatever part I was in, the woods, by the lake, farm field would ll smell different.
If I used the town that was my zipcode and where my mail was delivered from, it would be chocolate. There is a Nestle's factory there. My kids used to roll down the window if we drove by, and try to capture that aroma in the car. Some days it actually worked and I could smell it first thing in the morning when I got in car for work.😂
Come to think of it, growing up on top of a high hill, probably 10-12 miles from it, we could smell it if the wind currents were right. The nearest neighbors below and around our property never got the chocolate breeze. That far out it must have been on the higher air currents. There was a mint farm (closer) in that direction and when they processed that a strong smell of mint would come. Given the right conditions, chocolate and mint= thin mints. Lol. Wow, hadn't thought of that in a while.

Right now it would smell like rain, coffee, fir trees, dogs, breweries and beard oil. In the 70’s (when I was a child here) it would smell like rain, fir trees, and granola.

I don't really claim a 'hometown' as I've moved too much. We only lived In Mobile, Alabama where I was born for barely a year more before we moved. I've only lived in the south though so magnolias, gardenias, wisteria, and tea olive are the smells that weave through the seasons.
A town nearby to me now has a plant that makes the flavoring for pet foods -- now THAT'S a distinct smell some days. When my dog is with me when we pass it, he sniffs the air so loudly it's almost deafening in in the car!
