I was just cleaning up the kitchen and have Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons playing. Some of those songs brings tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. I think it reminds me of my tween years when my sister and I would belt out the songs and dance to them on Saturday morning when they were on Bandstand. It just makes me very nostalgic and miss my family.

Oh yes, I don't listen to my records anymore, and I never got them on CD's or on i-tunes, so when I hear songs from Bread, or Pink Floyd, I automatically go right back to junior high/high school to a guy I just loved.

Oh yes. Last Waltz by Englebert Humperdink. I have a few tears every time I hear it, and it's been around 45 years.
We used to have dances a few times a year when I was at high school, and Last Waltz was always the last one - and I was so often dancing it with Ron. We didn't see each other once school finished, but man, I loved him. He actually contacted me a few years ago seeing me on one of the social media, and we exchanged a few emails; but we didn't meet up. No good would have come from that.

Yes! Certain songs can take me back to a moment in time - a place, party, people, etc. I can also remember my dad or other loved ones that are not here when their favorite song or artist come on. I know smell does that as well, but with music it happens to me frequently.
I also love music and never far from my iPod.

Born To Be Alive by Patrick Hernandez takes me immediately to a disco in Mallorca and dancing with a gorgeous young Spanish waiter. Black Betty by Ramjam reminds me instantly of trying to pogo in my best friend's bedroom, and his mum shouting at us to stop making such a racket. That's Amore by Dean Martin especially makes me chuckle as it was one of my dad's favourite songs and my brother used to sing it in a really exaggerated way to annoy him. And Self Control by Laura Brannigan is the song my DH and I fell in love to.

Ah yes.... I feel my life has a very long list of songs that make up the soundtrack of my life. I do believe I have songs connected to each and every guy I've had a crush on, and a lot of my friends have songs connected to them aswell. My 7 year old DD absolutely LOVES Les Mis, and Eponines deathsong has become the song that I will sing to her before she goes to sleep. It sounds crazy, but she doesn't speak much English, so she doesn't fully understand the lyrics (she knows what the song is about we've seen the movie and the show). Sometimes a song can come on the radio and I am instantly pulled back to a party in 1999, or a concert in 2004 or another event. I love that feeling

Most definitely! And it runs the gamut - Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street brings me back to laying on the beach, slathered in oil. Let's Go by the Cars brings me back to a NYE party when I was 16. Anything from the 50's reminds me of my mom. Tony Bennett is my dad. When I hear Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations my husband, my family & I are showing off our dance lesons at my wedding. Blessed by Elton John makes me cry (I'm tearing up as I type) because it had special meaning for my mother when she was very sick and I had just had my son.
I could go on and on . . .

Definitely. I have listened to the radio for as long as I can remember and different songs take me back to when I first heard them.

House of the Risin' Sun, by the Animals. It was the song my hubby and I first slow danced to. I grew up listening to my sister's old 45's. Songs from the 60's are. the. best. Still listen to those old tunes on the radio, and can still sing along - almost word for word - with most of them.

Yes, anything by Van Morrison. Especially "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" it was "our" song. Whenever we heard it when we were together my late DH and I dropped everything and danced

I grew up in a house without tv, and we listened to music all the time. Either radio, or albums (I am old LOL) and even live (we went to concerts, blue grass festivals and other musical events a lot) so music is a huge part of my life-then and now.
There are more songs that have connections than don't.

Yes...but lately it just makes me feel old. DH and DS are all about the classic rock. My feeling is that I've heard Night Moves by Bob Seger a sufficient number of times in my life, and I don't want to dwell in the past. There are fantastic newer bands putting out exciting and exquisite music all the time (re: First Aid Kit) and it's a whole new world to explore.

Yes! It's usually odd ones too. My dad listened to country music. I always tear up when I hear a certain Charlie Daniel's song. Silver Bells is another one (grandpa memories); it's not a sad Christmas song either.

Yep, so emotional when a song takes you right back to the times it was popular. I can 'see' in my mind what I was wearing in those days, remember the feel of the times and they usually make me smile. But...sometimes cry real tears.

There is one song that I listened to over and over with my friend Stan our senior year of high school. He was murdered while I was in college and I always get nostalgic thinking of him when I hear the song. It's Barenaked Ladies If I had a million dollars....which is not typically a nostalgic type song.

Absolutely! Music is huge in my life (I can't play an instrument, but I love listening to music). I was a teen in the 1970's so of course classic rock is one of my favourites. Yes, just hearing a song can take you right back in an instant.

I immediately thought of Don McLean's American Pie. It was "our song" for a group of friends in the late 80s and brings back memories of great times.
The Little Drummer Boy will always take me back to my third grade Christmas concert. It wasn't a song I'd learned in church or heard before. I thought is was so beautiful and couldn't wait for my parents to hear it.

Whenever I hear Pink Floyd it takes me back to the dope smoking idiots I knew in high school - that's all they listened to. Consequently I can't stand Pink Floyd!

Definitely. Lots of songs bring back strong memories. I never really gave the song "You Are My Sunshine" much thought at all until I heard the whole thing played in its entirety at the memorial service for a former neighbor's wife who passed away from cancer at about 60 years old, ON CHRISTMAS MORNING. Ugh. They did everything together, and he was absolutely devastated. I will never forget the look on his face. It probably took a year before I could hear that song without misting up, and I'm not normally a very emotional person.
