My mom is just getting into paper crafting and for her birthday I got her a paper pumpkin subscription from Stampin' Up. What (if you have gotten it) do you think of it? I like it a LOT that it comes with everything she needs, (adhesive, etc...) because she gets stressed if she has to think about what she needs for a project, and she's not going into stores right now, etc...Additionally as a new crafter she gets overwhelmed with too many supplies and how to cut them, so it seemed good that everything was kind of done for her and all she has to do is some assembly. She can follow the directions or not, that is up to her, so some room for creativity. Anyway, I hope she likes it! It would not be for me, but I wanted her to have some happy mail and a little monthly project.

That was a super sweet and thoughtful gift for her! I haven't tried the Paper Pumpkin kit, but when I was a new cardmaker/stamper, the SU products were perfect since everything was already coordinated and I didn't get overwhelmed. I hope your mom enjoys her kits!

I'm a long-time Paper Pumpkin subscriber and I think that's a lovely gift! The beauty of the kits is that other than a tape roller (or liquid adhesive) and maybe scissors, you really don't need anything else to create some cute cards! They are a fun way to spend an hour or two relaxing and creating. There are some great ideas for expanding the projects given with the kits on Pinterest and there are some good FB groups for subscribers that have lots of inspiration. You really get a sense of accomplishment because you can create something pretty without spending hours doing it. I bet she'll love it!
If she really enjoys it, it might be nice to get her a Tim Holtz mini ink pad storage tin to store the ink pads that come with the kit each month. It's nice to keep them organized and together.

Kind of an offshoot discussion...I was a longtime Paper Pumpkin subscriber but canceled my subscription when the kits started being more gift-y than cards. By gift-y I mean notebooks, gift packaging -- things like that and all things I wouldn't use. I know it's likely not feasible, but I would love to see a card-only version of the Paper Pumpkin kits! Does anyone remember the SU Simply Sent card kits that were available years ago? I'd love to see something like that again.

I used to get them all the time for the times I wanted to make something but didn't feel like searching through all my stuff for something to make. It was nice to just pull the kit out and get the cards done in one sitting. I would 100% buy these again.

Great idea, thanks!! Quick question though, doesn't it come with the adhesive? Thanks! It does come with adhesive dots. And they are useable. But for a lot of us seasoned paper crafters, tape rollers are faster, easier, and more convenient. I didn't really care for the block that comes with your first kit, but I have plenty of blocks from other companies so I just use what I have. If I didn't want to stray too far from the box, the only things you really need to add are something to clean your stamps (could be just a wet paper towel for now) and some scissors. Otherwise, everything else is already included to make the projects as designed. If she's on FB, have her join the Paper Pumpkin Fan Club group. There's always some alternative that is STUNNING that I would never have thought of in my limited creative thinking. And it gives you ideas to utilize the extras that come with each box.

Those glue dots are great for gluing down bows and sequins, but I would not recommend using them to put down big pieces of papers. It will get tiring to take the protective paper off of them. I use a piercing tool, dollar tree has them 2 for $1 to take the protective paper off from the gluedots and foam dots. I would just decorate a PaperPumpkin box to hold the Stampin spots. Love to use the boxes for organization.
I have been getting PaperPumpkin for 4 years now @kendramage sometimes I just put them together following the instructions, but mostly I will make alternative cards with them. Good for last minute cards to give as a gift too.
The only thing I don't like that they send the same color mini pads, they don't duplicate in a year, but now I'm ending up with 2 or 3 of the same colors. You would think that out of 50 colors you wouldn't get duplicates for 3-4 years. I do get the ink refills to extend the life of the ink pad

Sounds like a great low-stress way to craft. If she wants more ideas I know some crafters share “alternatives” using the kit. I have seen Call me Crafty Al on YT share hers.

She could also use a little bottle of Tombow liquid adhesive too (the green one you get at Michael's) if she'd be more comfortable with that.

I got a few boxes during the holidays and they were so much fun!
