I label all of my photos before I stick them down with the names of the people in the pictures and the date. I have noticed that people that scrapbook on videos don't do this. Is that a privacy thing or do most people not label their photos?

Is that a privacy thing or do most people not label their photos? When you say label, do you mean you write directly on the photo, or on the back? Or use a label on the back? For me, I would never write directly on a photo, unless I was doing an "art-y" kind of project like a smash book or something where I could easily print another copy if I needed it. I have several old photos from the 1970's where my mom wrote on the back with ink pen, and it shows through. Over the years she switched to sharpie and that is terrible too. For the label, I cannot be sure any label is acid free, unless I make it myself (haven't seen acid free labels, but haven't really looked either) so I would not adhere anything to my photo that isn't acid free. Hope that helps! I guess I "label" my photos through journaling.

Are you saying you write that info on the backnof your photos?
I write the info on the LO or the back of the LO so it can be seen with out taking apart the LO. I don't post my pages online but I would wait to put that info due to privacy.

If I lable photos (because they are for others or will not be scrapped right away) I use a wax pencil made for writing on photos.

I write on the back of my photo and on the back of my layout.

I tend to write in the journaling.
Sometimes I'll write on a post it & tape that to the back of the pic.
I don't write on the pic itself, because it'll show through or indent it.

Is that a privacy thing or do most people not label their photos? You're a good person to have as a relative. I wish all my ancestors had done this (and yet I don't do it consistently).

I use a fine tip Slick Writer. It doesn’t show thru or indent the photo.

I identify the people and place through the journaling if it's not already obvious.

Post-its aren’t archival/acid free, so I wouldn’t permanently leave it on your photo once scrapped - it will damage the photo.
