I don’t typically watch daytime TV but I was at my mom’s the other day and The Talk was on. Sharon Osbourne appeared to be an obnoxious idiot who had nothing useful to contribute to the conversation but the other host, Sheryl, was so kind and patient with her! Then I saw a clip of her meltdown over the Piers Morgan walk-off...again, Sheryl was so calm. They’ll be glad to see her go!

I posted a video of her attack on Sheryl it’s classic and pretty reminiscent of all the times I’ve brought up racism to an unwilling “friend” 👀. The tears, the demand to be educated without concern for the emotional labor, policing of the friends anger or response, the shitty apology full of blame and lack of ownership etc. it’s why I am so careful with my friend selection these days What I hear in Underwoods response is what a blessing it is for people to reveal themselves for who they truly are. No matter how woke you are or how many Black friends you think you have, don’t hold your own ally badge ceremony. Especially while supporting Piers Morgan heaux ass. Racist people always talk about their link to the Black community. I remember when her daughter made the ON AIR comment that Latin people were only good for cleaning toilets. I hope she is canceled in a meaningful way. Underwood was a saint in her handling of such disrespect. I always wondered how she elevated herself enough to be on a talk show. Never a fan. Have never watched the show.

I quit watching regularly after Sara left, but the whole show needs to go (or at least get a whole new panel). Though I'm not sure I buy Ali's claims that she used slurs against Julie and Sara, Sharon is clearly so entrenched in her implicit bias and unwillingness to admit wrong, that she's become explicitly racist. Sheryl is a creep (not in this specific instance, but she often makes fairly sexual jokes and innuendo, to the obvious discomfort of fellow panelists and guests, and pre-pandemic, was quite touchy-feely with male guests that would never be okay if the genders were reversed). Carrie Ann always looks like a hostage (maybe she is, if the environment is that toxic there). I haven't seen enough of the other two.

Even if we don't always agree, it helps to hear others opinions and many times I have able to change my opinions based on more knowledge. |

I stopped watching The Talk after Holly & Leah were fired. I enjoyed them. I can’t stand Sharon Osborne. Why would anyone would want to hear her opinion? She’s so crass & loud. That voice of hers is so annoying. The Talk should bring back Leah & Holly.

“Woke brigade” “cancel culture” “political correctness.” It’s now formally decades of this narcissistic insistence people have on being able to say whatever they want because “freedom” while at the same time insisting that anyone who reacts negatively to them shut up, because “freedom” is a one-way street. There is no one more sensitive than a person who “doesn’t care what anyone thinks” and “just tells it like it is.”
Anyhow, I have never watched this show and don’t have much familiarity with Sharon Osborne, so that’s more of a general comment on the dynamic than a specific comment on her. But Piers Morgan sure can dish it out, but walks off the set if someone dishes back, right?

I’ve never watched the show but I did read Leah Remini’s book earlier this year and she detailed what it was like to work with Sharon, Holly and Julie. The reports about Sharon shared above match what Leah described.

I only watched a few times years ago and I think Sharon is the only one left I can’t believe she is still on the show. Actually I didn’t know the show was still on. She was always pretty crass and classless. I think it’s time for her to retire - no idea who else is on the show but it sounds like all the ones I enjoyed are long gone.

I like the concept of the show and have enjoyed most of the hosts over the years, especially Sara.
I have NEVER thought Sharon should be on the show. Rude, unintelligible at times, no wisdom to offer.
The things I'm reading about her here don't surprise me.

I agree with attitudes about Sharon and really hope this is what finally gets her off this show. But your remark about the sexual jokes & innuendo and being touchy feely has to apply to Sheryl too. I have long felt that she can be pretty disgusting at times when she talks about her & some athletes, for example. It always shocked me that she would talk this way one moment & then talk about her Christian faith in the next breath. |
