It's my friend's birthday today and I'm making dinner for her and her DH Monday night. Her favorite cake is German chocolate so I always make her a batch of German chocolate cupcakes. I've always just frosted the cupcakes with my mom's recipe for German chocolate frosting but this year I want to step it up a bit and fill the cupcakes with a fudgy filling before I frost them. Do you have a good recipe for the filling you'd be willing to share?

What about a whipped ganache? If you use dark chocolate it makes it really chocolately.

Ganache was kind of what I was leaning towards but wondered if anyone one had any other ideas. Thanks anxiousmom!

I checked my pinterest and some other recipes I use, but I almost always go with either a ganache or a chocolate cream cheese frosting so I don't really even have anything else that you could substitute. Hopefully, someone else has an idea!
