WTEF!?!?!? Of course it is TERRORISM related - unless it is a clear case of mental illness.
Just because it's not people from the Middle East doesn't mean these assholes don't mean to cause TERROR!
And even if it IS mental illness, it's still sickening in a country where BILLIONS OF DOLLARS GO UNTAXED for some of the violent mentally ill to walk/drive/live in communities in ways that are VIOLENTLY DANGEROUS to others.
It's all terror to me whether broken society that can't take care of its own OR whether home-grown or external TERRORIST hell-bent on DESTRUCTION.

The officer who died had two young children. He was originally from my area and was the family member of a very close friend of mine. It's shocking, but not too shocking, considering the state of this country.

I just saw this thread and I just wanted to point out that the thread title is misleading due to that typo...The capital was not locked down, the Capitol was. The "a' vs. the "o" makes a big difference. Not trying to minimize in any way the events at the Capitol, but the only area locked down was around the building and its grounds. Also, it makes a big difference to me because dd was in DC yesterday at the cherry blossoms.  |

When I first read about this attack, I thought about the the “A Gun Is Simply a Tool, Just One of Many Tools That Can Also Be Used to Kill, Like a Car or a Chef’s Knife” crowd.
I have to admit, I even wondered if the assailant was somebody trying to prove that point.
