Seems like a vehicle rammed into 2 capitol hill police officers, both have been taken to the hospital. Suspect is in custody. Events are unfolding. WTF?

Two Capitol PD officers injured by motor vehicle, one serious condition.
Although it may have been accident.
Officers and suspect at hospital. Car in police hands.
NO one in or out, stay in place.
Driver of vehicle had knife.

NO one in or out, stay in place. I'm watching the live coverage as I am in bed not feeling so great after my 1st Covid vaccine late yesterday. I've had Covid and had read the reaction was a little stronger for us, but wasn't expecting to feel like I had Covid again with the 1st shot! Anyways, the car looks like it hit the barrier straight on. Very strange. They are saying something about the suspect possibly having a knife. But you know how it is in the beginning, you never know what's rumor and what's true at this point!! But man, those poor people on capital hill must be so shaken! |

Suspect was shot by Capitol PD.
Drove through fence, hit barricade. Got out of car with knife. Slashed officer in face. was shot. Unknown whether the officer was also hit by car or another one. MSNBC

Between watching the trail yesterday and now this today, The line from that song from Childish Gambino keeps going thru my head, "This is America". I know we don't know the suspects motive yet, but it's just all so crazy in this new world we are living in.....

While attacks against Presidents and leaders are not new, the multiplication of individual and organised threats in the post-truth era is scary. It's feeding into false narratives, fanning the flames of paranoia and calling people to dangerous action. I just don't know how we effectively move on from this before a greater tragedy occurs (and I say that knowing all too well people have already died from this phenomenon, unfortunately).

I am angered.
I lose all patience when I hear the lies. I watched what happened on January 6th with my own eyes and yet some stupid idiot says that what I saw didn’t happen. They were “hugging and kissing!” Really?!!? That certainly what I saw and what many others saw.
I feel like our national security is gone. I remember after 9/11 the same feeling. However that was different because they were outside terrorists. This is worse and more scary because the terrorists are within. They are our neighbors.
I am so glad we have a truth speaking President.

So laying it at his feet, not yet.... We are living in a different world because trump brought to the forefront the worst of this country. As President he gave “permission” for the slim to crawl out from the sewer where they had been lurking. To this day trump has never acknowledged that he lost the election and continues to claim it was stolen from him. And the one final place that could have given him the win was Congress and in his mind they failed him. The craziest of his supporters believe this as well and the knowledge of Congress’s failure to overturn the election festers beneath the surface until they feel they have to do something. And that makes the Capital a prime target. So I’m going to disagree with you because I believe that indirectly trump was responsible for this. |
