Visited the state botanical garden in Athens yesterday and the Atlanta botanical garden today. (Typically I don’t go to the one in Midtown, but it’s been a while since I’ve been to that location and so happy I went

what type of bush is that It is a lilac bush. I have a white one, a hybrid and an old fashioned lilac bush. One of my lilacs seems to have died, and yet it has new growth at the bottom, so my DIL who is a master gardener told me to cut it all back and it will probably com back. I hope so because my old fashioned is my favorite.

I brought my beautiful Easter flowers from Pennsylvania and I am so happy with them. My lilacs also bloomed. I love all your plants. I love where I live...but sometimes I wish my yard was larger so that I’d have more room to plant. I hate cutting the grass though. Maybe the HOA will let me dig up all my grass and replace with all plants. I’m still waiting on hummingbirds, but I did see my first butterfly of the season. 🥰

Thank you all for your encouraging words. It’s so easy to just lose track of time when visiting these gardens.

The variety at the midtown location cannot be beat. Honestly night and day. Gainesville is growing and getting better. There’s nothing at all wrong with it. But I’m not going to let as much time pass without going to Atlanta

@gajenny, Such beautiful photos! You have a real eye for light and composition. Thank you for sharing your photos.
What type of lens are you using? I have a macro lens but I'm a little scared of it. Do you have any advice or tips?

Do you have any advice or tips? The dogwood bloom was my 100-500, I think. ( I’d have to go look at image on computer to be sure but dog sleeping and can’t get up right now lol). The others I’m fairly certain were with my 18-135...my everyday “walking lens”. I have a 100mm macro lens and extension tube for macro. I love the 100 mm macro lens but never really mastered the extension tube. I was intimidated with macro lens at first. One day I decided it was the only lens I was bringing, so I’d be forced to use it. My suggestion would be to just use it. It’s the only way you’re going to get comfortable with it and learn how to use.
