leannec, Molly is beautiful! christine58, hoping you can feel at home and slowly regain your strength back. lucyg, sounds like your mom is healing well. That's great! We're having pork chops and green beans. I finally sat down for a bit. I washed 6 of my mom's pillows last night since I have a large washing machine. Hers is still the old one with center agitator where you can barely fit anything in it. It must be 30+ years old. They don't make 'em like that anymore. I've done two loads of laundry and one load of blankets today. I have dusted and scrubbed floors today. My knees and back hurt. I'm reserving the bedrooms for another day. I also cleaned bathrooms, bathtub, and humidifiers so I can pack them away. Comforters will have to be washed and packed away another day. I don't want to jinx anything. We've been known to have snow in May so going to space out spring cleaning.

lucyg, I'm glad that your mom is back home. She is too feisty to go anywhere. I am convinced that the feistier the better, eventhough it's a pain for us sometimes. christine58, welcome home. Rest and continue to heal. My pulmo/critical care doc has saved me many times. Today he told me that he was surprised that I never got COVID and that he was happy to see me alive. He's an outstanding doctor and I couldn't tell if he was being funny or serious. When he was leaving I thanked him for saving me so often and told him that he is a true hero to his patients. I think he was gonna get teary eyed. I really really really LOVE this doctor. He's great at his job.

scrapmaven in this world I think too many times we leave things unexpressed. I think it is wonderful you took the time to tell him what a great doctor he is for you. I hope he does think of it and get teary eyed. Because a lot of people go through this life thinking they are just average people and we ought to tell them they are our heros.

Hi Lucy, I went to a different international store but could only get matzo balls nothing chicken flavoured. I will make chicken broth with a carcass and chop the meat, add carrots, celery and peas and matzo balls as per the recipe. Does that sound ok?

Hi ladies!! I'm still alive and kicking! Sorry I've been MIA but surgery wiped me out. I was expecting to bounce right back like before but the last time I had any type of surgery was 15+ years ago. I'm not quite as young as I was then. LOLOL
I'm doing really well. I have what they call a bolster dressing on my head. If you Google it, it'll give you an idea of what I look like. It looks like a buttered biscuit sitting on the top of my head. It's stitched in and our only job is to keep aquaphor on it. I also have 1 slice on the right side of my neck and 2 on my left side. They were only able to find 1 of the 3 lymph nodes. He said they were so small, which is good I guess - not enlarged is a good thing. I literally feel like Frankenstein though. Great big slashes on my neck with these stitches that aren't exactly small. Thankfully, I have very little pain. My neck is sore/achy but no shooting pain or unmanageable pain. Still haven't taken a stitch of pain meds. I finally got around to looking at my discharge papers today and it said to use ibuprofen for the first 3 days around the clock even if you don't feel like you need it. Woooopsie. Missed the boat on that... but in all fairness, the nurses and drs said they don't like people using ibuprofen because it thins the blood. LOLOL One of the other drs that was assisting my Dr did say they write out a narcotics script and your could fill out of your want to. But they didn't give it to me. I feel as though there was some disconnect between everyone on what pain meds should be taken. Honestly though, I haven't felt I needed them so it's all a moot point.
I will say that they all need to stick to being surgeons. Because they absolutely murdered my hair. LOLOL Thankfully, I was not attached to my hair at all. And I had my dh buzz it for me. It looks so much better and everyone that I've shown a picture, says I have a nicely shaped head and it suits me. LOLOL
So the scans I had... they were nuclear scans done with a gamma camera and followed by CT scans. The injections, there were 4, were quite uncomfortable but the scans themselves were easy. I ended up having a 3 hour wait in between scans and surgery. Thankfully, my dh was able to hang with me in pre-op until they took me back. My surgeon was running behind by about an hour. They took me back about 2:35 and my dh didn't come back to recovery until 7:30. I was horribly nauseous... it took them 2 different meds to get it under control. But it was a Godsend when they did. For the first 2 nights, I slept sitting up and it sucked. LOLOL last night I was able to lay down a bit and sleep on my sides, which gave my very sore rear a break... but sleeping on my sides irritated my neck incisions.
But overall, I'm getting better every day. I have another covid test a week from tomorrow and then the second surgery on the 16th.
Thank you so much for all the well wishes over the last few days. I really, really appreciate all the love.
Dinner tonight was grilled steak, oven roasted potatoes, and corn.

Well, L'il Guy is doing well, even though I'm STILL nervous that something bad will happen. He's just a fragile lil' lovebug! Last night I was helping him stand, and held his hips very gently, but he yelped in pain. Of course I felt TERRIBLE !!!! He has NEVER yelped in pain !!! Dh and I are going to take him to a specialized, pawsome place that has physical therapy and acupuncture. They even have a POOL for physical therapy for pets! I'll bet that would be great for his poor lil' spine! We need someone to guide us in EXACTLY how to deal with his disc without further injury. Yesterday, DH grilled a bunch of yummy meats for us to enjoy for a few days. I sauteed some mushrooms and onions, baked some potatoes, made macaroni salad, and fresh broccoli and cauliflower. After reading this thread, I realllly want strawberry shortcake AND key lime pie. Ugh, I wish I didn't love sweets so much! I have gained too much weight during this pandemic!!!! Olive tapenade, crusty baguette, toscano cheese, apple and pineapple. Making smashed blackberries with honey and balsamic, brie and prosciutto bites on crostini. yummmyyy!!! I've never had olive tapenade or toscano cheese, but I'm sure they are as yummy as everything else you're serving. My uncle’s condition hasn’t changed at all. The doctor and nursing home staff are basically keeping him comfortable and trying to keep him hydrated, but say the end is near, they just can’t predict how long. (( hugs )). I was so sorry to read that your Dad lost another brother within the last year. Poor guy! Does he have other family around for his grieving? But the beach sounds like heaven right now. I am Soo jealous !!!!!!!!!!! prime rib, new mashed potatoes, been-in-the-fridg-too-long broccoli, more strawberry shortcake, and air. After I leave PolarGreen's, I'm flying to your house for prime rib (YUM!) annnnd strawberry shortcake sounds sooo good! You mentioned AIR----welll, if I'm eating all that yummy food, I won't be taking any breaths! I'll share the photo below. Left to right quilts are made by my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother and myself. Wow! Those are so pretty! Such beautiful heirlooms for your family! I made a key lime pie yesterday and elevated it by making my own graham cracker crust using this recipe. OMG, so much better than the pre-made ones from the grocery! I LOVE key lime pie !!! I'll be over soon to have some! I have a fun idea if anyone's interested....we got key lime pie from an AWESOME bakery, and they also added macadamia nuts to the graham cracker crust. It was TO. DIE. FOR !!!!!! Leave at 7 am on Thursday, so that means being at the airport nice and early! I arrive in CA at noonish. Vacation, or something not fun? I've been enjoying food and drink a little too much over the last couple months Ummm.....me too !!! Omg, even some of my roomy pajama pants don't fit right now!!! since the pandemic the ocean or bay just makes me breathe better. I craved open spaces. I’ve always loved the ocean. Me too! I absolutely LOVE the ocean and can sit and stare at it for hours! My brother and I used to ride waves for hours, too....even as adults. SO MUCH FUN! I got home couple hours ago still quite sore and exhausted maybe tomorrow I will write up a post of everything that went on. It was the worst pain I’ve ever had in my life Sounds HORRIBLE! Sorry you're sore and exhausted, but I'll bet you're sooo happy to be HOME! Also, being reunited with your sweet doggie is the BEST, isn't it? Mom has been sprung from the hospital and is home now. It’s just like her to bounce right back. <—no, I’m not as annoyed as I sound. I just know if it were me, I’d probably be crippled for life Are we related? I swear, I think I'd be the same way!! My Dad falls every once in a while, and has NEVER had an injury---not even a tiny scrape on his skin. It is seriously amazing !!!! IF he ever has a bad fall like your Mom, I think he'd also do VERY well afterwards. Well, I hope so! Every time he falls (and DH helps him up from the floor), my heart races and it takes me a lonnng time to calm down. Molly is gorgeous. And she looks like you! leannec...I Agree !!! (with everything my twin lucyg said ) My pulmo/critical care doc has saved me many times. Today he told me that he was surprised that I never got COVID and that he was happy to see me alive. Aww, he sounds wonderful !!! n this world I think too many times we leave things unexpressed. I think it is wonderful you took the time to tell him what a great doctor he is for you. I hope he does think of it and get teary eyed. Because a lot of people go through this life thinking they are just average people and we ought to tell them they are our heros. TOTALLYYY agree! That's why I like to TELL them to their faces (and that includes our pawsome veterinarians and their staff), but I make thank you cards and usually bring home baked treats. Whenever we get excellent service at a restaurant, store, or with someone over the phone, my Dad and I send emails to their corporate office to compliment their employees. (sometimes, we do forget---but I always make notes to remind me! ) I hate it when people who serve the public are rude/ lazy/etc. I don't send complaint emails, but sometimes, I'd like to. Nope----I like for excellent employees to know they are appreciated! In some of my emails, I'll also say I think the employee deserves a raise. ETA: LOL, as if ANYONE will see this----I take that back, I DO send negative emails, but only if something was VERY wrong or in the case of one PetSmart employee---VERY rude! Only problem was, the next few times I went into the store, I was afraid she knew I'd emailed corporate! (this was several years ago). brandy327 ....Sooo glad your surgery is DONE, and even better----no pain!

Hey everyone, hope you all had a good day. We had BBQ chicken salads (mine minus the chicken) using left over salad and chicken from Easter dinner. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Hi Everyone, This weekend has been off for me, pain-wise. I have been in a lot of pain since Saturday late afternoon and I started taking my pain medication on Saturday to deal with it. I know that I overdid it with my house. Which caused me to have had a tougher time sleeping and today my PT appointment was even off. I ended waking up this morning at 4:30 am. I took my medication and went back to sleep. When I woke up, was still in pain and I am hoping that by tomorrow morning I am ahead of the pain and take less of it. I ended up having to deal with medication refill issues with my insurance company and taking a nap this afternoon. Dinner tonight was fend for yourself. I had cereal. leannec Molly is beautiful! brandy327 I am glad that they didn’t find anything in many of your lymph nodes. scrapmaven I hope that you enjoyed your busy day. christine58 I hope that you feel completely better soon. cadoodlebug That meme is great! **GypsyGirl** Your quilts are beautiful! lucyg I am so happy that your mom is doing better. I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Mom has been sprung from the hospital and is home now. It’s just like her to bounce right back. <—no, I’m not as annoyed as I sound. I just know if it were me, I’d probably be crippled for life. If I remember correctly, she broke her hip. Did she have replacement surgery? When my FIL fell on Christmas night years ago, he had replacement surgery and had to spend over a month in a rehab facility. I'm glad she's doing so well! She just had screws put in, not a full replacement. She’s getting around fine with her walker, but my sister is going to stay there with them for the time being. Thank you everyone for the well wishes for my mom! scrapmaven, I’m happy to see you still alive, too. Delta Dawn, I’m glad the matzoh ball soup worked out for you. There aren’t really any rules. You just need to make matzoh balls and put them in chicken soup, and the rest is up to you. Your final product sounds delish!
