Happy new week. I hope it is indeed happier for brandy327 and christine58. I'm thinking good path report thoughts for Brandy327 and discharge thoughts for christine58.
Today will be a bit busy. I have errands(all curbside or stay-in-the-car dropoff)and a doctor's appt in person. Dinner is Giada's Chicken meatballs and Orchiette.
What's on your menu?
jeremysgirl, do you have your 2nd shot this week? I have mine on Friday. We were just a few days apart.
I truly wish everyone a happy, fun and calm week.

We are having rechauffe prime rib, new mashed potatoes, been-in-the-fridg-too-long broccoli, more strawberry shortcake, and air. Gotta breathe with all of that heaviness!
Thanks for the thread. DRIVE SAFELY, OH QUEEN BEE OF THE DINNER SISTERHOOD! WE BOW TO YOUR GREATNESS EVERY DAY!

Hi, scrapmaven. My second shot is on the 21st. Which is good for me because next week I'll be in Alabama on vacation. I feel pretty well protected but I will be driving down and staying in a condo, eating in. So basically I am just going for the beach. Still avoiding the public. But the beach sounds like heaven right now. My boss is on vacation this week. And when he's gone my week goes one of two ways...either it's slow and I can do revenue reconciliations all week in peace and boredom. Or everyone who needs him will come to me and I will be putting fires out all over the place. So far this morning it's been quiet. Tonight's dinner will be lamb kebabs. I'm going to go in and marinade the lamb on my lunch hour. And I'm adding some zucchini and sweet potato to the kebabs. Which seemed less weird when I originally planned it. What veggies do you guys like with lamb? And there will be a mix of rice and quinoa on the side. Have a great day!

jeremysgirl , I would gladly join you on a beach vacation. May it be relaxing and totally fun. You have certainly earned a good vacation. As for veggies I don't like side veggies. My mother used to boil them to soggy death. I love veggies sauteed w/my meal. For lamb, you could do spinach. I'm thinking about Greek Easter, lamb and spanikopita. We celebrated every year w/my parent's best friends. Though my favorite part of that celebration was dessert. Oh, the cookies. She was an amazing baker and her cookies were delicious.
desertgirl, I'll be sticking my fork into your screen in search of prime rib. I'll be very safe, because I'm in my happy car. I just love my car and feel fortunate to drive it. Normally, I don't like driving.

Cold this morning ~ it started sprinkling while we were on our walk so we cut it a bit short. I have to leave soon to visit my Chiropractor. Think dinner tonight will be spaghetti and meatballs with a green salad for me.

Today was the last day of our 4-day Easter long weekend, and we had absolutely nothing to do - no shopping, no church, no anything - and so naturally I was awake at 6:30am! I spoke to my dad mid-morning. My uncle’s condition hasn’t changed at all. The doctor and nursing home staff are basically keeping him comfortable and trying to keep him hydrated, but say the end is near, they just can’t predict how long. I went out for a walk as well. It was a lovely day, cool but sunny, so I wanted to make the most of it before we drop down to really cold and possibly rainy over the next few days.
Dinner tonight is going to be shepherds pie, made with the leftover meat from last night’s roast lamb. It is all prepared and is in the oven, so dinner will be soon.

Happy Monday! Don't over do it on your busy day scrapmaven jeremysgirl a bit jelly of your beach vacay, that's a long drive! Detour through OK and I'll take you to Loops(yarn Heaven).
530am was brutal this morning after 4 days of sleeping in. It's almost 80 today and I always lose my appetite a bit when we start getting warm weather so planned a charcuterie for dinner. Olive tapenade, crusty baguette, toscano cheese, apple and pineapple. Making smashed blackberries with honey and balsamic, brie and prosciutto bites on crostini.

a bit jelly of your beach vacay, that's a long drive! Detour through OK and I'll take you to Loops(yarn Heaven). It is a huge drive for me. 1000 miles. I'm stopping over in Nashville. And let's not forget it will be DD and me. So if we don't kill each other on the way there it will be a miracle. And my friend Tiffane told me recently that every time she's on vacation she seeks out a local yarn store and buys sock yarn. She knits herself a pair of socks for every destination she goes to. I thought this was a fabulous idea so I plan to seek out a LYS and buy enough yarn for a vacation shawl. I'm pretty excited about it. But I'd love to take a detour and yarn shop with you. If I ever come visit, this is definitely on the itinerary.

Happy Monday everyone! I'm off to a good start with the week. Have made a mile long to-do list for the week. No task is too small to go on the list. I've learned that if it doesn't it most likely won't happen. DH is back to the office 5 days a week. The quiet is heavenly! This afternoon I'll be doing some chores and finish sewing down the binding on a quilt. It's been sitting there partly done for a few weeks now. Also need to add labels to a couple of DD's quilts she brought over yesterday. I needed to borrow one that my mom made for her for a photo project I was doing. Hung four quilts in front of the garage that represented the work of four generations to share on Facebook. I may have tagged all the younger generation when I mentioned that it looks like I am the end of the long line of quilters! I'll share the photo below. Left to right quilts are made by my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother and myself. lucyg - I made a key lime pie yesterday and elevated it by making my own graham cracker crust using this recipe. OMG, so much better than the pre-made ones from the grocery! Try it next time you make one! Dinner tonight will be rechauffe ham made into a crustless quiche and a salad on the side. Dessert will be the vanilla ice cream that didn't get made yesterday. Seems someone forgot to put the bowl in the freezer 24 hours ahead of time. Bowl is cold now and I'm going to start up the machine shortly.

I have a couple of more days before I am off! The plan is to do absolutely no cooking. Since it is just SO and I, we will probably get something take out for the next couple of days. Today and tomorrow at work, Wednesday I am going to lunch with my son and then a hair appointment at 3. Plus I will be packing in the morning. Leave at 7 am on Thursday, so that means being at the airport nice and early! I arrive in CA at noonish. leannec - beautiful daughter!! Great quilts **GypsyGirl**! Love that you have that history.

What veggies do you guys like with lamb? For kebabs the usuals are zucchini, onion and peppers. I've never put sweet potato on kebabs but will file that in the back of my mind. If roasting lamb then it will likely be carrots, beets and potatoes. Really, anything goes. Making smashed blackberries with honey and balsamic, brie and prosciutto bites on crostini. Another mental note filed to give this a try. Hung four quilts in front of the garage that represented the work of four generations to share on Facebook. They are gorgeous and I love the way you hung them! Molly is stunning, leannec! A sad thing happened when I switched my clothes from winter jeans to summer capris so it's a reset Monday for me. I've been enjoying food and drink a little too much over the last couple months and have to draw a line in the sand at least until DD's birthday and Greek Easter, which are both the first weekend in May. Dinner is going to be cheese tortellini and a Caesar salad. I'm not a big fan of tortellini so won't be tempted and will be happy to have the last piece of grilled salmon instead. I do have to hit a store or two today looking for discount Easter eggs. A definite benefit of celebrating Orthodox Easter, but can't leave it too long or there will be nothing left.

leannec, I love that picture of Molly ~ just beautiful! **GypsyGirl**, I love the quilts! Being from Western PA, all my aunts had cedar chests full of quilts. I have one that is probably from the 1930's or so that has a hole that our family dog chewed in the 60's. I can't bear to throw it away but it has been well loved and used for decades.

your quilts are amazing! If you don't mind, I think the ladies on the craft thread would love to see your generations of quilts. Thank you! Perhaps if you mention it they will wander over? I hate to overwhelm the board with duplicate photos! I love the quilts! Being from Western PA, all my aunts had cedar chests full of quilts. I have one that is probably from the 1930's or so that has a hole that our family dog chewed in the 60's. I can't bear to throw it away but it has been well loved and used for decades. I understand not wanting to part with it. How big is the hole and where is it located? There may be a way to work with it to stabilize it if it isn't repairable. If not, then there are options to remake the good parts into a smaller keepsake.

How big is the hole and where is it located? Pretty much in the center and about the size of an orange. The edges of the quilt are also quite worn and raggedy. My philosophy is that I am glad I used it all those years instead of preserving it in a chest where no one got joy from it. KWIM? My aunt gave us a quilt for a wedding present which we kept on the bed in our guest room for years. Unfortunately I inadvertently put some old batteries on it and they leaked and made a huge brown stain ~ right in the center. I didn't love that quilt like I did the first one. The first one was a wedding ring quilt.

Happy Monday ladies!
I hope everyone's Easter was relaxing.
@**gypsygirl** Your quilt display is awesome!! I have two quilts from great grandmothers and one that my grandmother and I made when I was a young girl. She quilted every winter and I would walk to her house after school often to sit and quilt with her. She made a quilt for each of her grandchildren for their wedding presents. They are all cherished! My quilts will never be the same level of keepsake quality, but I make them for my creative outlet and enjoy passing them on.
Dinner this evening is totally up in the air. I think it will be clean out the fridge night, DH has some real estate things going on, so he'll likely grab something quick and be happy with that.
Have a great day!!

Mom has been sprung from the hospital and is home now. It’s just like her to bounce right back. <—no, I’m not as annoyed as I sound. I just know if it were me, I’d probably be crippled for life. Dinner will be on the road tonight, as I’ll be picking up my East Coast sister at SFO. She gets to stay with mom and stepdad for a week. Other sister is coming along for the ride, and she wants to stop in Oakland for ice cream sodas on the way. Ice cream for dinner works for me. leannec , Molly is gorgeous. And she looks like you! **GypsyGirl** , I noticed yesterday you were making key lime pie. Thanks for the recipe ... I pinned it. The quilts are such a treasure. I LOVE bow tie quilts (in fact, there’s a raggedy one on my sofa that I made half a lifetime ago). christine58, I’m so glad you’ve been sprung, too!

If I remember correctly, she broke her hip. Did she have replacement surgery? When my FIL fell on Christmas night years ago, he had replacement surgery and had to spend over a month in a rehab facility. I'm glad she's doing so well!
