I am eligible now due to my work. I made an appointment online with my health provider (although my work also offered a location to get it, it was more convenient for me to go to my own health care provider). I had to check a box saying I was in and legible group. I bought my letter from work and an ID badge like my work told me to do but no one asked for it or cared and i realized anyone could check the box and get it that wasn’t eligible like Dh or dd if they wanted.

You are completely OK to feel how you want to feel. I hope you get yours soon. I can't speak for your "line jumpers" but I sort of feel like people probably thought that about me at some point. My MoM at church, his wife is the Infectious Disease head at our local hospital. As they were first doing the clinics, if they had no shows and vaccines left over at the end of the day, they started calling and texting people who could get there before they closed so they wouldn't be wasting doses. I was the very lucky recipient of one of those shots. I had posted on FB and had several friends my age ask me how I got it. They weren't open to it at that time. I told them honestly how I was able to get it. Did I line jump? I don't think so. I am also in an area that a lot of folks just aren't open to the vaccine. Ya know, due to the chipping and all...smdh... I was to the point that I was going to put myself on "extra doses" lists, but didn't need to. That is not at all jumping the line! Those open vials are thrown out at the end of day - no need to waste vaccines!! And as far as chipping ... chip away I saw!

Thanks Peas! I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my wild feelings. I'm feeling a little calmer since we were able to make an appointment for our youngest DD who has Urinary Cystitis which wreaks havoc on her skinny little body. Trying to be patient a little longer. Casii I can’t remember the town/area you live in, but try CVS and zip code 21666. Many appointments available!!

I am so grateful to have gotten my first vaccine and will be getting my second this Friday. Our county opened up to anyone 16+ a few weeks ago. I am so grateful that my DH and youngest DD got their first vaccine a couple weeks ago. We were at Sam's Club and they were giving appts to anyone who wanted a vaccine. DD and DH were quite happy to make an appt. It makes me sad that so many that were eligible in our county refused vaccinations. That is why we opened up so soon.

I sometimes feel that I am the last to be vaccinated - I mean I am in the last group, but even so it feels like everyone else already has been. But, like others have said, the more of my compatriots who are reduces my risk. I'll be eligible on the 15th.

No jumping here...we waited until the state sent a text that we were eligible. I was lucky to find an appointment for the next day (just happened to check when they posted more slots). Dh won’t get his first one for another week

I have a neighbor who was able to vaccinate her two children before it was even open to 16+ without some sort of medical issue. I was FURIOUS. She is a PT and has opened her own business out of her home, and apparently put her two sons who are 16 & 18 down as employees, even though they do NOT work for the business. Her two healthy children are fully vaccinated before my 75 yr old dad, and we are in the same state (MD). Another friend's husband works for Northrup Grummond, and apparently they sent out a letter stating their employees were "critical." Ummmmmmm, no. No they aren't. Not like doctors and nurses and school teachers and grocery store workers, etc. Because it was a blanket letter, people were signing up for appointments, but then were turned away bc the letter didn't specifically state Mr. So and So was a critical employee, so I was grateful there were some sort of control, but pissed bc what if dosages were thrown away bc they assumed they would be given that day? I got my shot bc my BMI is considered obese. BMI is such a redonk benchmark, but I figured, what the hell, for once being fat is gonna pay off. So I got my shot. So I validate you!!!! Is your 75 yr old Dad nearby? Does he have an appt yet? If so and he is still waiting, PM and I'll tell you where I was able to get in quickly. If you want. Nothing tricky required, just brought up their website and picked an appointment time. Thank you! My Dad got his 2nd shot today but my husband needs it ASAP (heart issues)! I will PM you!

I’ll sit on that bench and wait (impatiently) with you, casii. My DH has had his first shot but I don’t begrudge him that at all since he is the one going out into the world every day to work and has a couple comorbidities that would make getting Covid really bad for him. I keep checking my clinic’s website and the vaccine locator thing for my state but I’m not willing to drive for three hours one way to get it. I’m hoping that it won’t be too long before availability opens up a little more in my area. What I have working against me is that our governor opened up vaccines for everyone 16+ all at once instead of dropping it down in age brackets more gradually, so now allll of those people are scrambling for shots right along with me.

I do understand, and it makes me mad too when people lie to get the vaccine quicker.
I was in a situation where I had no clue when it'd be available to me or my family, yet we're high risk.
But the local pharmacy had people either cancel or just not show up. They need a certain number because of the multi-use vials. Hubby is friendly with them and is there 2-3 times a week, so they called him. Do I feel bad about that? Not one bit. Because we really need the vaccine, and we just got lucky combined with being nice (hubby). To me that's not jumping the line, that's taking advantage of a legitimate opportunity. And I am very very grateful.
I knew I'd get it eventually, but it was sooner than I expected. And while the side effects were rotten, they were short-lived, and way better than getting Covid.

I've felt the same. Everyone around me has been vaccinated and I'm still trying to find some place. If I want to drive 3 hours one way I could have gotten one any day this week, but with my work schedule and being tax time, that just isn't possible. MN opened up for everyone 16+ 2 weeks ago I think, but the hospitals are still only doing 65+ for some reason. Very grateful for my work though. We received an email yesterday that they are setting up a clinic for May 7th so anyone who wants a shot cane sign up and get one at work. Sent that email in right away yesterday saying I wanted to be signed up. I know things are going to be off for a while, but it just feels like a huge weight off my shoulders and that maybe we can have some sort of normalcy. I’m not sure where you live, but both of my kids were vaccinated last week. DS in Annandale and DD at a theater in Minneapolis. I’m grateful that both were eligible so soon.

One thing about COVID is that levels of personal jealousy, judgement, and tattle tale behavior has increased about 3000%. We've become very petty in the last year.
Get in line and pay attention to yourself. The idea is to get people vaccinated. Someone got it before you? Oh well. Sucks, but oh well.

Oh I had it! I think you're normal if you have it. I mean you WANT people who need it the most to get it, but when they're young and healthy, you're like WTH? My 20yo super healthy son was called a couple weeks ago, just before VA opened up the sites to everyone. I think they are trying to get college kids under control, too. So I am good with that, but luckily I was called just before he was or I'd feel the same way. FWIW, my other two haven't gotten vaccines yet. One in the UK with serious health issues (it will be soon!) and the other in Switzerland and she won't get it until August. They haven't started the under 75yo yet. I am just happy we are here in the US and we have a president who put this as an incredible priority. They're doing the clinically vulnerable now and have been for a few weeks. If she's registered with a GP tell her to contact them or alternatively ring 119 and explain her situation to them if her papers haven't come through yet. @dottyscrapper thank you! You are always such a big help for me. It has been a HUGE struggle getting her paperwork in order. She has her pre-settlement papers, but they told her it would take 3 months to get an NHS number (I think that is what she said - the number is important, right?). They told her to go into doctors' offices, and she has randomly walked in to them, but no luck yet. I promised her I would stop asking weekly because I know it's stressful, but I will tell her to ring 119 (I see that's the nonemergency number) and tell them that. You rock!

I've felt that way hearing about young people with no co-morbidities getting it. Then I'd rethink it and realize every person getting vaccinated is beneficial to us. It helps that all of my at risk, elderly relatives have had their vaccines. I'd probably feel different if we were still searching for appointments for them.

I've felt from the very start that it is more unethical to let a vaccine go to waste than it is to get one before it is your "turn". No waste lists are absolutely not jumping the line.
For a while there was a large pharmacy chain in a nearby college town that was vaccinating people in congregate living situations - i.e. students living in apartments/dorms. It was a checkbox on their online screening form, despite not actually being an eligible category in this state at the time. So students were checking the box and getting their shots. Confused parents were calling the pharmacy to clarify. The situation was that the chain had plenty of shots and weren't filling up their appointments. So they found a use for their vaccine allotment. I was perfectly fine with that too. College students are not great at mask wearing, distancing, and isolation when needed. So getting that population vaccinated helps the community these colleges are in. May not seem "fair" but that is the reality of where we are.
The goal should be getting as many people vaccinated as possible, as quickly as possible. It defeats that goal to waste time waiting on people in an arbitrary tier group to get their shots before moving on to the next arbitrary tier group.
I do think it is icky to check the box saying you have diabetes in order to get the vaccine if you don't actually have diabetes. Don't do that.
But also, as I said in my first post on this thread, I'm not going to spend time being upset about it. Every single person that gets vaccinated helps protect all the rest of us.

He is a college student and works in the food industry and will be teaching sailing to teens this summer, so I wanted him fully vaxxed before that. Happy to share the info.

Here is a helpful bit of info for those who haven’t gotten and would like to get and appt and are tired of trying internet resources for signing up. I have been spending a good bit of time lately helping some friends, neighbors and relatives who have been able to get an appt. I have even done it across lines. It takes some patients and the ability to wait on hold for sometimes as much as an hour on more-I use speakerphone for this part. Make sure you have Full name, maiden name or middle name, last name all spelled correctly or according to what’s on ID, DOD, known life threatening allergies, best time, best times are from 11-3 so get the person to agree to those times, address, phone number, cell phone number cell carrier, any comorbifities such diabetes, heart disease, high blood press, overweight and the correct email address. Now find out you cities health department and county health department numbers. Also fing out which hospitals they may gone in the last 12-18 months. Now call the city or county numbers first asking to speak to representative and remain on hold until someone comes on and wait and wait, etc until someone comes, then ask the assist you in scheduling an appt, make sure to tell you have no preference for whichever vaccine or location, just that you would like soon as possible, be nice, be thankful, be grateful and they will help you, because they know when the next locations are opening. Try all the numbers and hospitals. I have helped 36 people all ages with just one to three calls each, usually the county one!

Sometimes people lie, and sometimes they just don’t tell you what their comorbidity is. I know lots of folks who weren’t comfortable sharing that their BMI put them in the 1B group because of others’ judgment about whether fat people (even just a little fat - BMI of 30 is very common) should get to go earlier.
People don’t share that they have an autoimmune disorder that has embarrassing symptoms, that they are a lung cancer survivor, or all kinds of other things because others judge.
And yes, more people vaccinated means a safer society. I hope as demand declines in states where there are more opposed to getting vaccinated, they’ll find a way to re-route additional doses to states where people are waiting for a long time.

I hear you, I feel/felt the same way. I did not meet the criteria for scheduling yet but got my first vaccine on Tuesday because I was lucky enough to get on a call list for end of day. They had 12 no shows plus the extra doses from open vials. You have to be ready to go there. I was told at the end of their clinic days (held at different venues) they would rush around to neighboring businesses and ask customers and staff just to use up. They do not care what group you are in. My husband was bugging me about getting it done because I am close to the current age group and have pre-existing conditions. Not that met the current standards so would have had to lie. We had family members that had scheduled appts and I don't know how they got them. Personally I think it was handled all wrong. They should have started somewhere in the middle of the age groups and worked their way out. Get the working people to keep the economy going and the most mobile age groups that are contributing to the spread. Just my completely unprofessional opinion - there could be reasons I am missing! I heard as people get vaccinated unexpectedly they are not canceling appts like they should. Find out in your area who is giving them and see if you can get on a list or be nearby at the end of the day.
