Thanks to the years of posts about SC's horrible customer service and damaged products I would never consider giving them my money. Word gets around and I'm sure they've lost a lot of potential business due to their "I don't care" attitude. It completely stinks that after laying out a ton of money you all aren't getting your kits on time. They should just suck it up and express them to you. We all know they'll still be making a profit and it would do wonders for their image. Hopefully things work out and you at least get your pages on time.

Really, come on. Why didn't they plan on having the DD kits on hand in October or even September? What is so hard about that business plan? How can anyone "feel bad" for a company, where their ultimate goal is to make money. They should deliver their product no matter what...

I have offered that they can refund me the album and just send me my kit as is, I am happy with that as I have other albums I can use anyway. I just want my kit, even more so after seeing the video Ali E posted yesterday showing the contents.

They are not the only company to have to deal with customs. They should know how this goes and the kits should have been in the US months ago. People like to start working on them early. I didn't realize they weren't shipping until November that is already too late in my book. Ali always starts showing what she is doing by when September. I know I have seen that other people are starting them around then as well. I am glad I didn't buy one I would have been pissed. They really should plan ahead more if they want to stay in business.

And this is why you don't sell products that you don't physically have in your hands. How hard is it for these companies to grasp that concept?

I just watch the AE video with the DD box. I am not sure if this is correct, but was that entire red/white box for $99? I guess there was an album too. I checked out the SC blog with people saying they have to prepare. Does this kit give you the page layouts too? I am just wondering because I haven't ever ordered anything like it. Is it worth the money?

Is it worth the money? yes the kit is the box plus an album and page protectors. As far as is it worth money, I think it depends. I do think this kit is more of a boutique type thing where you may get less but exclusive and unique items. I got the kit last year and felt it was worth it - although I do think you can get more from other kit clubs at the same price point- like gossamer blue or Scraptastic. Sometimes it just depends on preference. The kit does not come with page layouts but a lot of people like to pre-plan their pages so they have the base of the page ready to go. Ali typically does pre-plan. One of the benefits is she mainly uses the kit and some of her overlays, etc. So you can follow along with her and use some of the same supplies if you like her layouts. In the past, Ali really emphasized pre-planning pages so I think that is what most people are used to...I hope this helps answer your questions.

Yes, Megan. Thanks for taking the time. It is hard to imagine just seeing the things in the box. I need to find a video of Ali making the pages to see it all together.

I can't believe how Studio Calico treats its customers! The product is so skimpy in those kits anyway, then to have bad CS on top of that . . . I understand that people really like Ali Edwards and that she's able to sell pretty skimpy products because she offers a lot of content along with the products, but now her schedule seems too full to keep up with the products and the content there is suffering as well (no complete WITL, etc.) I wonder if it's due to becoming involved with the Studio Calico business model.

UPDATE.... I received this reply.....
"We have an official email going out later this afternoon, but I wanted to personally let you know that we have decided to go and ship domestic kits now with a 2-3 day delivery time and then ship the albums when they arrive later via the same shipping method. Again, we just really want to apologize for the negative experience you had with the shipping of these kits. If there is anything we can do to personally improve your experience with Studio Calico + Ali Edwards, please let us know."

I'm happy to see that SC is finally doing something to fix this mess. I'm even happier that I didn't buy the kit. I am continually amazed that it literally takes a 5 page thread of unhappy customers on the SC board, plus threads here to get them to do the right thing: put the customer first. You would think that after 4+ years of DD supply/shipping problems, SC would learn to schedule delivery for late October.
Glad things seem to be working out for everyone who ordered a kit.

I think that $99 for that kit (was there more for shipping?) was giving SC a big profit in the first place. They can afford to sent out the album later.

I am incredibly glad they are shipping USPS and I will have it for this weekend.

Mine shipped UPS, not USPS. I haven't gotten the updated tracking though so still not sure of the arrival date. I'm really hoping I'll have it for this weekend as well. I have a lot going on Thanksgiving week.

I'm glad that SC is shipping the contents right away and the album later. I'm stunned that this wasn't offered from the beginning -- especially with their past record of DD "mishaps".
Happy Scrapping!

That's what they should have done - their error so they should eat the extra shipping costs.
