I’m tired of this and I’m not Black. I’m sorry and wish it wasn’t happening. I’m sorry it ever happened. I’m sorry there are probably an innumerable number of similar incidents that the public doesn’t know about because cameras were not available, weren’t turned on, or the footage somehow disappeared.

I hope he wins his lawsuit and those cops are tossed out. Hard.
Maryland just passed police reform over the veto of Governor Hogan. Pretty sure he's gearing up for a presidential run even though his chances are slim, so he's recently started moving right of center on his opinions.

I know not every cop is bad, yada yada, but this is why overall I don't trust them. They protect each other even when knowingly harming someone. I can't imagine nurses doing that (I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but we spend A LOT of time critiquing the care other nurses have given our patients and finding it lacking/not up to our standards and no one hesitates to call someone else out when they're doing something that could be harmful).
Imagine if cops held each other to a higher standard.
This story makes me so angry for this man. I never need to worry that I'll be hassled and assaulted by those who are supposed to be upholding the law just because I'm a white woman driving a new car.

Our governor called for an investigation. My damn racist dixie state. I was just in the county where this happened this afternoon. The George Floyd murder currently being tried should be mandatory viewing for these asshole cops with the caveat if any of you do any of the shit in this case you will be charged and tried.

Women are taught to pull over into a well lit parking lot or gas station if the police need to pull them over after dark. (Is that still a thing?) It should be acceptable for anyone - any race, any gender - to choose to pull into a gas station instead of a dark road and not face this kind of treatment.

On the news this morning, they said that one of the suspicious things was that he was driving slowly. So, you're black and you speed? You're in trouble. You're black and you drive slow? You're in trouble. I don't understand how some people refuse to see that there's a different standard here. |

It was never about respecting troops or honoring a flag. At that time few wanted to talk about the reporting or research so the pea comments devolved (as my threads always do) from police treating Black people with respect during traffic stops to how I did not deserve respect during a police stop because of my “interpersonal communication style”. Meanwhile less than polite treatment by police is Breonna Taylor, Sandra Bland, Korryn Gaines etc. single most hurtful thing a pea has said to me and never apologized for. “I have no doubt regarding the findings of the study. Which is incredibly depressing and wrong. And, I would also add that one's interpersonal communication style also impacts how one is treated, regardless of race. it should be the norm to drive to a well lit and OFF THE ROAD place to stop. no drivers should ever stop on the freeway/highway. as long as you are not going 100 miles per hour getting to the place, there shouldn't be a problem.

Another issue of people, not police, harassing uniformed Army in an IHOP in Virginia!! A gentleman did step in to help!! Officials at a Virginia military base are conducting an internal review after TikTok videos showed a woman harassing several Black soldiers at an IHOP before cursing out another patron who intervened.Two TikTok videos filmed by one of the four soldiers, all of whom remained unnamed, shows a white woman coming over to the seated soldiers and addressing them as "shitbags." The woman continues cursing at the soldiers, with her reasoning unclear, as they ask her to leave them alone. In a second video, a larger nonuniformed male patron, who was identified in the video as a retired airman, confronts her and demands that she leave before the woman threatens to engage in a physical altercation. "I will f------ drop you. You wanna go? You wanna go?” she is heard yelling at the nonuniformed man. "Oh? Drop me? Really?" the man says in response. An official at Fort Belvoir, where the four men are stationed, confirmed in a statement to The Hill on Thursday that the base was conducting an "internal review" of the incident. "We are committed to fostering an environment of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our force. A view of the video will show the Soldiers maintained their composure and military bearing throughout this shocking incident," said Joe Richard, public affairs director for Fort Belvoir, calling the soldiers well-trained and disciplined.
