Although my husband's Gaming Convention at the same hotel the week before was cancelled, CKC has opened registration for their July 24-25 convention. My friend and I do plan to go. They have all day crops this year like Scrapbook Expo has. Is anyone planning to attend a scrapbook convention this summer if you have the chance?

I've given it lots of thought, and I just don't think I can. I am not sure when I'll feel comfortable doing something in a group of that size again, especially for as long as I want to scrapbook. I'd be interested in the amount of people they are allowing in the space, I would guess it depends on what the state regs are at the time. I did find this one their website for Covid protocols:
Face coverings are required, except when eating and drinking. If you forget your mask, we'll have one for you. (Each location may have different requirements, look at the Safety Precautions page for each specific event). Hand sanitizer stations Frequent sanitizing of high-touch surfaces Upgraded sanitation and cleaning methods Capacity limit per CDC guidelines Wider aisles in the vendor area Physical distancing in classrooms Increased cleaning and sanitizing in classrooms Crop seating is 4 to table and those attending together will be seated together

No. I’m not there yet.
I’m not ready to spend hours in a room with strangers I don’t know. People who’s safety precautions might well be non existent. And I’m not going to get a darn thing done if people are sticking their noses out or wearing their masks on their chins. I’ll have to leave if that’s the case.
And I will still be worrying that the 60-100 people I saw that week for work ( for 5-10 minutes with masks ) could have transmitted a variation to me. Could I be carrying covid & not know it? I live in fear of unknowingly infecting someone.

Was just at CKC St. Louis this past weekend. I was fine with it. But then I'm fully vaccinated. Number of vendors was down considerably. I also thought the crowds were down. The St. Louis convention was one of the few held in 2020.

Creating Keepsakes is still putting on events, even though the magazine is gone? Who makes the money off it?

I don't plan to do any indoor events until at least fall. Once I do feel safe, I suspect I'll sign up for everything!

I went to CKC this past weekend in Collinsville, IL. I believe that they call this one St. Louis. Anyway, there was no social distancing in the "shop" floor. It was very crowded and people were not staying six feet apart. Everyone had on masks (although some still don't realize that you are supposed to cover your nose too.) There were a few hand sanitizing stations. I didn't take any classes this time. The vendors were fewer and just not offering classes that interested me. I didn't crop there either as a group I normally craft with had already scheduled a crop at a scrapbook retreat location near by the convention center. I did find things to buy even with the reduced number of vendors and had a good time. I wore my mask and used my personal hand sanitizer frequently. I will admit I had more fun cropping at the retreat center with my close friends.

I will not be attending any in-person scrapbooking events for the foreseeable future. I don't trust other people to follow the rules that are put in place to keep everyone safe. Too many selfish assholes running amok for me to feel comfortable in an indoor event of that size and length.

I live in fear of unknowingly infecting someone. This is me. I want to go to a scrappy event. There’s going to be a crop at a hotel less than a mile from my house in June! I just can’t though. I’ve spent so much time at home since March 2020. I’m higher risk and have had to work from home as a teacher even though my school has been in person 100% since the first day of school in August. I’ve now been vaccinated but so much is still unknown with these variants. I have spent over a year isolating as much as possible at home, pick my daughter up at that school and we’re both masked during the ride home, and making her shower before she can even give me a hug just to blow it by going to a crop? I can’t. As much as I want to, I just can’t.
