My stupid farking Keurig just died, after a few years of finicky behavior and endless rounds of needle maintenance and descaling. I have a serious love/hate relationship with that stupid thing.
Now I gotta replace it, but really REALLY not interested in yet another round of "will it work today?" stress. Plus, I have a regular coffee maker (Bunn) that works beautifully and honestly prefer brewed coffee much better than Keurig.
Thinking instead about getting a Nespresso. Who has one? Which one? Is it a hassle? Is it worth it? Share your experience, please? Thanks!

I have a Nespresso and it is great! I bought it at Bed, Bath and Beyond on sale with 20% off and free coffee pods and a milk frother. There are so many models out there, but mine is this one: Nespresso vertuoIt is probably the best coffee maker I've ever had. It reminds me of the wonderful coffee machines in the hotels I stayed at in Italy. The quality is excellent.

I love my Nespresso. I have no idea the model...my daughter purchased it at Target and gave it to me as a gift two years ago. It is a Vertuo model, which if memory serves me has more 'american style' coffees (but espresso too) than the original nespresso machines.
The coffee is so much better than the Keurig coffee. I will never go back.

Dh drinks the coffee in our house. We had a Keurig that lasted a short time. He replaced it with a simple nespresso and he’s much happier with the coffee and the machine. I’d like him to get a new one (for the look on our counter) but this one won’t die so he won’t replace if. It’s been at least 6 years.

In the past, I could not purchase Nespresso coffee anywhere but online. I will mention that last time I was in BB&B, they had a LIMITED number of pods for the Vertuo line of Nespresso; I think it was Starbucks brand.
On the Nespresso website, you get free shipping with purchases of $35 or more.

We have two Nespresso Essenza Plus machines. I had given DH one for Christmas in 2019 for his downtown office. When Covid hit, it got stuck down there so we ordered one for the house. Like you, I drink brewed coffee daily so wasn't as interested in it for myself. Now I use it nearly every day. It allows me to have a cup of decaf in the afternoon without needing to brew an entire pot. There are two types of Nespresso machines. The original Nespresso forces the water through the pods so you get a traditional espresso. The Vertuo uses centrifuge force to spin the pods so the taste isn't the same. If you want the fancy drinks, or a less strong coffee, then the Vertuo is the machine for you. The Original is best for those who want the traditional espresso or cappuccino taste. The model we have allows you to make an Americano or Americano XL, which is my setting of choice. DH goes for double and triple espressos. Choosing a Nespresso Machine As for the pods, Nespresso brand pods are excellent. They have several decaf pods that I can choose from. We order directly from the website and delivery has always been very quick. DH's preference is the pods by Illy, which I either pick up at Sur la Table or order online. The cost averages about 80¢/pod. It does sound expensive, but when compared to what we were spending at Starbucks, it is actually a money saver for us. Thinking instead about getting a Nespresso. Who has one? Which one? Is it a hassle? Is it worth it? Share your experience, please? Thanks! There has been no hassle at all. It's super easy to operate. Periodically it will signal that you need to run the descaling solution through the machine. Timing depends on how much you use your machine. It's definitely been worth it from a cost, as well as a convenience factor for us. I also have the Aeroccino milk frother (had it long before the Nespresso machine) so that I can turn my espressos into cappuccinos.

I have a nespresso as does dd. My BFF tried mine and immediately bought one. I will say nespresso has amazing customer service! After about 8 months or so I was having intermittent trouble with my machine (I later suspected it was user error but at the time I didn’t realize). I called their Customer service line and someone spent a long time with me troubleshooting and then just like that they shipped me a brand new one.
ETA: I’ve ordered the nespresso pods through them many times with quick shipping but I more often buy compatible pods from Peet’s or Starbucks at Costco. Williams Sonama also has a brand of compatible pods but I thought those were just so so. My Macy’s also has a pop up type shop that sells the machines and pods and gives samples.

Mine is older. I think it is the Pixie model. I used it for a few years and then put it away to use the Keurig. About 6 months ago, I picked up some Starbucks capsules at Costco and thought I would try it again. It is so much better than the Keurig. I order my capsules from Amazon on the subscribe and save feature.

We've had a coffee pot, Nespresso and a Keurig. We ditched the Keurig a couple years ago and are quite happy with just the coffee pot and Nespresso. We have one of the original smaller models that came with a stand alone milk frother. We use it multiple times a week. Shipping from the Nespresso website is VERY fast! Like order on a Friday and it arrives on Sunday, fast. While we haven't purchased, I've seen Nespresso pods at Costco.

Curious why you need to replace it if you have a Braun you like and you prefer the coffee from there? We had a Keurig and zero problems, but I just hated the waste of the pods and the expense, so we donated it. We have a Ninja coffee pot because I like iced coffee and it can make that for me and a pot of hot coffee for my husband.

I love my Crux. At the time I purchased mine it was only sold at Macys. Now it appears that you can get it elsewhere. I got tired of replacing my Keurig every year. My Crux has been great. Take a peek.

I was gifted a nespresso virtuoso for Christmas. The coffee is a little strong, imo. I have found a couple I like. I find many of the pods taste alike, where the Keurig has more variety with pods. The nespresso has a richer flavor. My keurig is old but so far so good!

I’m reading this thread with interest because while I don’t drink coffee at all, DH does and the KitchenAid coffee pot he has now is on its last leg. He mostly drinks regular brewed coffee but occasionally would like a fancier coffee drink if we had something that would make one. If it could also make hot chocolate for DD and me, that would be a bonus.
He won’t do any research (that’s kind of my jam) but he definitely gets irritated if what he buys on a whim doesn’t work out the way he thinks it should.

I had no interest in a Keurig after trying them at friends' houses a few times. DH's office had a Keurig for a while and went back to drip. Then I stayed with a girlfriend and tried her Nespresso, came home and told DH I only wanted one thing for Christmas. The coffee is really good, easy to order and the pods are recycled. On the weekends we still make a full pot of drip coffee but during the week I love my daily Nespresso. We only use filtered in ours and I'm still waiting for it to tell me it needs to be descaled after a couple years use.

Curious why you need to replace it if you have a Braun you like and you prefer the coffee from there? Not the OP, but I can answer why we like having both. DH used to make a pot of coffee to take one cup on the road with him at 4:30 and I'd heat up and have a cup sometime after 7, pouring out the rest. The Nespresso fits our weekday drinking habit better. We each get the one cup we want, fresh when we want it. On the weekends we will go through a pot of coffee together.

I guess that makes sense, we can make individual cups with our machine so that makes a difference. My husband makes a half pot and then I just make my iced coffee after his is done (he gets up an hour before I do). I just make a single cup.

I have a mini Keurig that my son gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. I've never really liked it, but I use it every day because itvwas a gift from my son. I use refillable pods and it makes better coffee than the one-use ones for less money. I even use really expensive coffee and it and it cost less than buying pods. Before I got the Keurig, I used a little drip coffee maker. It made better coffee in the same amount of time as the Keurig. It was perfect for me as the only coffee drinker in the house. I highly recommend this over a pod machine. www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DCC-450BK-Coffeemaker-Stainless-Steel-Carafe/dp/B0000A1ZMS

I far prefer my Nespresso over DH’s keurig. It’s definitely more like brewed coffe than keurig. I usually use a larger coffe setting unless I want a latte. I can sfintely tell the difference in the coffee flavors, but I had a friend who had a nespresso for years help me pick my selection so I didn’t choose all one type of flavored.

I have a Nespresso Lattissima Touch with a built in frother. I do not use it daily, mostly on weekends or days off. Like it, makes good Lattes but like regular coffee on a daily basis. For daily use I have a Kuerig. It is not the bulbous or single model, it has a water tank and can make about 12 cups from one fill. I think it is the supreme. This replaced my 15 year old Kuerig, the heater finally went.
I am addicted to pods. Cannot stand the sight of coffee grounds, they turn my stomach. When I was a child I once grabbed a milk carton out of a friend's refrigerator and she said it was okay to drink from the carton. Took a big swig and the carton was full of garbage, meat fat and tons of coffee grinds. To this day I cannot stand the sight of either.

Popping back in on this, as I got busy with other things and totally forgot I got pissed off at my Keurig. . Skellington - I need to replace my Keurig because other than when we have guests I don't make a full pot of coffee. I'm the only coffee drinker in the house. Thanks for all the input, ladies. I'm going to go figure out a Nespresso, I guess. I have been a couple of weeks without my Keurig and I'm pretty bothered by it. I am throwing out a lot of coffee!

The Vertuo system is very different from the Original one. Original is your traditional pressure-driven pump system but Vertuo uses centrifugal extraction. That's a major difference in taste. If you like your coffee American-style, go Vertuo. If you like your coffee Italian-style, definitely stay with the Original line.
I have used the Nespresso Original system since... 2007? Maybe earlier. It's not a cheap system when you consider the price of a single pod but it's so easy and convenient for single cup use. Nespresso have continued to make the best quality pods out there (nothing from the grocery store tastes anywhere close to the actual Nespresso pods) and I just wait until the have one of their special offers on to stock up these days. Even my milk frother is by Nespresso. The only reason I'd move away from this setup would be a very fancy traditional espresso machine. Otherwise, I'm good. Bring on my morning cappuccino and afternoon ristretto!

We used to make Ice cubes out of left over coffee, and store them for the ole to hot cup of coffee or if someone wanted an iced coffee, because I hated throwing away good coffee and I couldnt figure out how to make less then a full pot and it taste good!

I definitely prefer the Nespresso. There is no comparison in the coffee quality. I use the Keurig for hot water for tea and if I’m in the mood for a lighter brewed coffee. I buy the Starbucks or Peet’s brand Nespresso pods at Costco and occasionally order directly from Nespresso.

We have this one. a Latissima Pro. Very easy to use, makes a lot of different drinks with a push of a button or two. I love that the frother is easily attached and ready to go. I only use Nespresso pods. DH uses non brand pods. I tried them but don't like the taste. The machine is very easy to maintain and clean. Worth every penny.
