Do you make your own tags?
Because my family is so spread out I don't do many gifts - send money instead - ugh. So as much as I love making Christmas tags I really don't have a use for them.

I make some of them. But only to those who will appreciate a homemade tag.

I'd like to. I find the tags themselves (just the bases) hard to find here...not sure why, but even the office supply stores don't seem to carry them.

For some gifts I do, but most of the time I don't even use them. I am such a dork, but when I wrap, I use a really plain wrapping paper and then do some kind of design on it (with paint, ink, yarn, whatever.) The to/from usually gets incorporated in the design somewhere. There is never any doubt which gifts under the tree come from me.

I love making them too....then I give them to friends and family early as a pre-holiday surprise. I don't give enough gifts to use a lot but I love sharing....

I have manilla tags from back when I used to do a lot of swapping and grunge was popular. But I really don't care to use them. I always make my own with card stock. I found I was always covering the manilla tags which is a pain so I switch to making my own and I like the control I have. I can make them any size or shape or colour or pattern. There are even dies out there which is great too.

I do make my own tags. Last year, I made a different tag for each recipient. They were all the same sized tags from one of my dies, but I have so many holiday stamps that I wanted to use a bunch of them. I just started making tags and enjoying myself before I realized I had more tags than gifts and had to stop.
I even made tags for the gifts from my dog to my family member's dogs. I found a stamp that looks like my pup with a little antler hat and a strip of jingle bells on him. I baked up a bunch of healthy homemade dog biscuits from a doggie health food book I found. I made two different sizes, one for the big dogs and some mini bones for the smaller dogs. I stamped them, colored them with my copic markers, and then added some dimension with some paste that looked like glittery snow. I would add a picture of it, but all the buttons that used to be at the top of a reply post are not showing up for some reason. I can't add pictures, likes, scroll to the bottom quickly, or a few other things that I used to be able to do on this site.
I also have a stamp with a dog standing in the snow with one leg lifted. I started to make those up for the gifts from my dog but a neighbor said she didn't think I should use those on a food product gift, ha ha. I saved the tags I had already made up of that stamp and will use them again at some time that I'm not making edible treats.

I make some of them. But only to those who will appreciate a homemade tag. As I said I don't really make tags but I do Christmas cards and I don't care whether they appreciate them or not. I make them because that is what I like to do and once given it is none of my business what happens to them, I've had my fun.

Excellent attitude! I'm that way with my scrapbooking. I only have one child to scrap, and he's not exactly sentimental. He may just toss all the books after I die. I'm hoping that by then, he is married and his wife will be interested in preserving his history for their own children. If not, like you say, I've had my fun.

I do a mixture of handmade, tags made by cutting up old Christmas cards, and store bought. Mostly handmade though. They're fun to make. And the people I give them to will keep them, if others don't that's fine by me too. Once it's theirs they can do what they like with them.

I haven't made any this year.... Hopefully I'll have enough left over. I used to spend a weekend with my sister for just this purpose before she lost her eyesight to diabetes. We had much fun doing this.... But my sister died in November

Sorry about your loss, scrapaddie. I love to make tags! I give them as gifts also and use them on homemade rolls, bread ,candies, jams, vinegar, vanilla that I give to family and friends.I use die punches or hand punches and use up a lot of scraps. For me,it is therapeutic and I love to receive handmade items,so it seems appropriate.

I usually use plain manilla tags and decorate them. What do you use to make your tags?

I wasn't planning on making any, but I ran out while wrapping, then got carried away. I think I made enough for next year, too. I just used cardstock and a Tim holtz die that I've had forever but never used. I didn't even know that I had To and From stamps, but I did. That was a nice surprise.
They are fairly plain, but it did save me a trip to the store.

I'm in the same boat as you - as much as I love making tags, I don't really have a need for them since my family is spread out.
