You really have no ability to self-reflect, do you? If you did, you’d realize that you sound like a complete asshole when you say stuff like this. I hope to god you don’t send condolence notes to people through texts. If so, in the future, just don’t bother. Nobody wants to hear your lack of human warmth and compassion. My 21-year-old DS took the time to make me a Mother's Day card with crayon drawings and his own sentiments written on it, which he presented to me yesterday at brunch along with a purchased sentimental card from DH and a silly card from the cats with googly eyes. They are both precious to me. I’m sorry you can’t recognize the gift of human connection when it springs from a source of love. I’m expressing my opinion on a message board. I hate cards. If that bothers you so much, perhaps you should self reflect. I’m sorry you need someone to spend money to feel love. I can feel love in words and texts. If you can’t, why not? I just reflected. I said in my original post my son MADE me a card—no money spent, I feel so loved by his gesture. Not so much by a medium in which I schedule haircuts and confirm dinner plans with friends.
