I spent some time this afternoon putting away my latest shopping purchases then felt moved to scrapbook a few pages. Like so many others I have enough supplies to scrapbook for the rest of my life haha, but am SO far behind in actually scrapbooking my photos it isn't even funny. This got me thinking that maybe enough is really enough and I need to stop shopping and start scrapbooking. I remember the pea who was challenging herself to a year of not shopping. I have no doubt she met her goal. I wonder if I might be able to make the same goal for myself? It's definitely something I need to ponder for a while.

I'm going to "try" and do this at the beginning of the year. Most of my scrappy purchases have been dies. I stopped buying paper ages ago. I have enough stuff to scrap with for the rest of my life. I have also done major purges this past year.

For the most part I did that this year. I placed a couple of orders early in the year for special projects/gifts and ordered a Dec Daily kit but mostly stuck to using my plentiful stash. Between that and some major purging, I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as patterned paper. I still have more buttons, non-neutral cardstock, letter stickers/thickers than I can use in a lifetime. I'm not sure what to do with that. ha!
I joined a make X number of layouts before shopping challenge on ACOT but there are facebook groups too. It sort of got addicting and to the point where I don't really want to shop until I really truly need something.

Yeah, seriously. I keep realizing that I barely use any product when I actually scrap. Photography and journaling regularly are way more important. I'm going to put myself on a freeze - no buying except for albums and page protectors as needed.

I also have enough paper and other things to scrap for the rest of my life, but I am not going to lie to myself and say I'm not going to buy, because I am when something catches my eye that I think I can use.
I can honestly say I do scrap my photos, even though I have at least 20 projects left to scrap before I could be 'caught up.' I have so many completed albums I am quite pleased with all the product that has actually found a home in my books.

I completely understand how you feel. I used to LOVE scrapbooking. I'd scrap several times a week and adored every layout. Back then I shopped for what I needed and didn't have a huge stash. Somewhere along the way scrapping became more about buying and not actually scrapping and my pile of paper grew and grew. While I don't feel the need to be completely frozen, I have cut back to only buying what I need and occasionally something I want. I've become more frugal about shopping for scrapbook supplies after feeling overwhelmed by my stash one too many times and realizing that I don't scrap very often.
Let us know how you're doing with setting and reaching a goal.
