My husband think that it is absolutely the grossest thing that I will blow my nose into my hand and wash it down the drain while I take a shower. He can't believe that I would do that. And this is coming from a retired plumber. The man who did my fecal sample that needed to be mailed in because I was so repulsed by doing it. The man who thinks nothing of having to do anything with any other body fluid that can come from a person - blood, spit, urine, anything. Do you blow your nose in the shower? How do you do it?

Nope, that is pretty gross to me. But I bet a lot of people do it!

I don't. I don't recall needing to blow my nose in the shower. I would probably get out and blow it.

Nope never done that or even peed in the shower. If it's an emergency I can understand but I would never do it regularly. To each his own!

Gross. I also think peeing in the shower is nasty but I have heard of people doing it.

I don't think it's *that* gross, but no, I would personally never do that, I'd wait until I was out and blow my nose in a tissue (or a few sheets of TP if I was really desperate)
ETA: I have never peed in the shower either - I would get out dripping wet and use the toilet even if it was an emergency.

I have both blown my nose AND peed in the shower. Not gross. Cleaner when you think about it. It all ends up in the same sewer line.

Keep the responses coming. This is interesting. So far, I'm surprised how many find it gross. For those of you that are familiar with using a netti-pot. It almost the same thing, the crap in your nose comes out and goes down the bathroom sink. It's been around for thousands of years. I wonder if anyone uses a netti pot and still thinks this is gross. Anyone of those out there?

I recall in SoCal during a past drought period that city officials were actually encouraging people to pee in the shower to save water (e.g. it saves a flush).
I don't recall ever having to need to do that, but wouldn't worry about it if I had to sneeze or something. having to stop, turn off the water and go find a tissue to blow one's nose in seems like way too much work and mess (water all over the floor)

I've used the squirt bottle version of a netti pot in the shower before.

Gross! I don't use a neti pot either because the thought repulses me! I also don't pee in the shower. Blech!

When I have a bad cold, I go into a hot steamy shower, let it do it's thing, and do exactly as you do. I prefer that because no harsh tissue is rubbing against my nose and making it even more raw. It's a great way to open the sinuses and clean them out thoroughly.
I can't believe people would NOT do that.

It's easier to use the neti pot or neti bottle in the shower. Less mess and the steam helps. Then all the nasty goo goes down the drain instead of into the bathroom sink.
Not a big deal either way, whatever works for you.

I do actually use a tissue. The steam often gets any stuffiness cleared up and I just turn off the water, reach for a towel, dry a hand, and grab a tissue. Luckily all of those things are within reach from the shower.
I have peed in the shower while pregnant. I figured trying to rush out, sopping wet and enormous sounded like a recipe for disaster (I managed to fall once with both kids while showering, so I wasn't going to tempt the fates.)

Well, you could say the same thing about peeing in the kitchen sink...or standing in the toilet after you've peed in it "it all ends up in the same sewer line"
To me it's partly about bacteria but a bigger part is standards of behaviour. Even though I know my urine is 'clean' and I'm not going to catch anything...I'm still not going to pee down my own legs or stand in my own urine if I have any choice in the matter.

I do that. I agree that the steam loosens things up and it feels better to do it without a tissue.
I also pee in the shower.
It doesn't hit my legs at all and I don't stand in it?? It goes straight in the drain without touching any part of me.
