“Motivated reasoning is a phenomenon studied in cognitive science and social psychology that uses emotionally biased reasoning to produce justifications or make decisions that are most desired rather than those that accurately reflect the evidence, while still reducing cognitive dissonance.”
Kind of like deliberate ignorance.

Since when did elections become a “competitive” event? Since when did voting for the individuals you want to run the government become a “competitive” event?
And how by making it easier to vote “discourage” Republican voters from voting?
“ the RNC argued that overturning the suppression law would change the structure of the competitive environment in which Florida holds its elections, harming their electoral interests and discouraging Republican voters from voting. ”

Chief of Staff for GOP Florida Rep Gimenez overheard a conversation in the lobby if the Regency Hotel near the Capitol on the morning of Jan 6th. At about 10am he thought he heard them say that they were going to go to the FBI building. That something was going to happen at 2pm. They were in full body gear. The Chief of Staff reported the incident to both the Capitol Police and the FBI. www.cnn.com/2021/05/21/politics/carlos-gimenez-aide-january-6/index.html

These poll results are exactly why nothing will ever happen to assholes like Gaetz. Yes, they can be charged, but good luck finding a jury that will convict. If I were a trumphumper charged with any crime, I would take my chances with a jury and not take a plea.

One positive is Federal juries are a bit different, if he even requests a jury.

Ohio GOP Rep Gonzalez is being challenged by Max Miller an aide to former twice impeached one term. But he has spoken out against the big lie. I think continuing to perpetuate falsehoods, especially ones that are dangerous that led to the violence on Jan. 6, is a recipe for disaster for the party, but it's also horribly irresponsible," Gonzalez said..... www.rawstory.com/anthony-gonzalez-trump/

Wondering, should this have its own thread?!?!
It is a temporary photograph, the oil is in planning .. he is directly across from John Lewis.. he is back to back with Obama, which is normal for the last two presidents. The article is sort of worth reading.. It shows the photo that is a bit strange looking, or maybe just the angle is off.

Lawmakers are afraid to go home for this first longer break since Jan 6th. Capitol police says threats are up over 107% since the also. The House/Pelosi has considered funding some protection/security. Many, particularly, Democrats, have paid for their own. www.rawstory.com/lawmakers-fearful-of-being-targeted/

DOJ has not made the decision whether they are going to block the papers for the Barr fake investigation. The info is supposed to be released to CREW tomorrow. The judge did give the DOJ a chance to keep it confidential. In the long run Barr could face charges. He also lied to Congress, so that could be added in too
