DD is flying with her BF to another state and will be staying several nights at his parents' house. DD and BF have been dating for a year and she's only met his parents once when they were visiting BF in our home state. She would like to get BF's parents a host/hostess/thank you gift (not sure what to call it.) She's thought about wine but she doesn't think they drink much if at all. Any other ideas from the all-knowing Peas? Thanks for your help!

I would have her bring something from your area. If it was me, coming from Seattle I would bring some smoked salmon, chocolates made in Seattle etc.

She is staying there a few days so if they are starting to go out to places, a gift card to a local eatery or delivery place, and put it in a little basket with same nice scented hand sanitzer and maybe a couple of disposable masks and some towelettes. If there is something specific from your state, do that.

A famous or trendy cookbook from your area. Wine Pick up a potted succulent while out
Eta - it makes me reminisce I remember going home with one of my room mates to Massachusetts and I gave the mom a Chez Panisse vegetable cook book which my mom had to mail me to take!

Maybe add in a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant or a specialty grocery store in their hometown.

A little something local would be perfect. I wouldnt bother with sanitizer and masks, I think everyone has plenty of those items now

If I was your DD, I would ask my boy friend what his parents like and what their interests are and get something according to what he says. Easier and less stressful that way and it shows that she made an effort to know their likes and not just give random stuff. And yes, my answer would be same if it was my son going and staying at his gf’s parents place

I like the idea of something local. Barring that, if she has a favorite baked good, for example, from somewhere she goes all the time, that would be a good option. For example, I brought one of my favorite pies from a place I love to my in-laws many years ago. I actually held the pie the whole way there, and the TSA agents kept asking if they could have a bite, lol. But it feels thoughtful and personal at the same time?
