has anyone tried these markers? They seem very easy to use and not a huge expense for a full set.....just wondering if they live up to the you tube videos in terms of blending....

I just watched the video on these this morning. They sounded good at first, but I couldn't have them as my only set of pens. Sometimes I want to start out with what would be their mid way through color instead of the color the pen writes when not dipped in the blending solution. There is no way to achieve that with their pens. I would have to dip it, then color on scrap paper until it got to that shade, then use it until it gets too dark and repeat, repeat, repeat until my item is colored. And if you have a large area to color, it would be the same thing.
I also don't like the 10 seconds you have to wait. I know that sounds picky, but it would drive me nuts to keep timing how long it had been in the blender solution gadget.
With Copic pens, you can put some blending solution in a small cap and dip your colored brush into it. When you start coloring, it does the same thing that the Chameleon pen does, goes from light to whatever the pen color is.
I can see myself getting irritated with those pens after a while. It sounded good, but when I started to imagine using them, I could see the areas that would bug me. The more you color, the better you become at blending, and I like having full control of where and how much each color is going to be needed.
I ultimately decided they were not going to be a part of my crafting gear.

Thanks so much I hadn't thought of that.....makes a lot of sense. Wonder if all that fusing has an impact on the life of ink as well.

I bought the set. I have zero experience with any alcohol markers, and these made it harder to learn. I sort of regret the purchase. The only good thing is that the work with other markers. I've since made my first copic purchase, and copics are far superior.

I wanted to add that I immediately signed up for the copics for cardmakers class after my first attempt at using the chameleons. Those mid tones have such a short life span. Literally, one swipe. The concept of chameleons is better than the reality. Once I bought the copic set, it all clicked for me. Now I just wish I knew the color equivalent of chameleon to copic.

Thanks garcia5050 I have little copic experience as well and I think that's why these makers caught my attention.

I ordered this set as a gift from DH for my birthday. It took FOREVER to get here . . . but I've been playing with them since Friday night. I've watched a bunch of their videos and found them helpful. I would agree IF you need color large images, this is not the set you want. Their sample images to practice are under 3", and that makes it easier to get the tint that you want. I practiced 10 times on the image I wanted and found I could achieve the look I wanted. I have ZERO experience with alcohol markers, but a ton with colored pencils and blending w/ a Dove blender. They are something that you have to practice with and understand the concept of how the pen works. For me I am glad I bought the set. They will work as they are intended. I was really not interested in collecting hundreds of Copics or Spectrum Noir pens. I have full sets of Zigs, Mementos, and from back in the day, Marveys. Since I don't color that often these will work as my alcohol pen set that will allow me to add highlights etc. I am sure more videos are coming that will address the "size of image" issue. They just had a DT call, so I am looking forward to seeing the directions they will go with this new product.
